Hello Alvin! I have a Petrbilt 387 and I am repairing my Eaton Fuller 13spd. Before starting the repair I watched a lot of your videos. You are a professional and I wanted to ask you what is the right thing to do. What parts do you use for repairs, original or auto market? If auto market, which ones can you recommend.
Some genuine and after market parts, for bearings i always use the NTN bearing kit or timken brands, for gears i use cobra gears and eaton gears, and mix it with aftermarket brands, there are some good aftermarket brands that last pretty long. For the gears that are always in use i recommend you put genuine parts and for gears like the reverse gear you can put aftermarket, and for syncros and sliding clutch put genuine parts.
Oh yes im sorry about that, i will make another video and make it more detailed. But yah the shims on top of the countershaft should be flush with the back case you will feel it with your fingers if the shim is too thick or too thin. Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
thank you for this video !! i have a problem with my transmission the shifting splitter cylinder is leaking oil ... is hard to replace the O rings and gaskets??? anything special that i need to know?
Hey my rear bearing cover gasket is leaking can i just pop it off and replace the gasket while the transmission is still on the truck? Any specific spec to torque the nuts after i install the gasket?
Rtlo 18913 behind strong cat popping and rolling back on hard pull in low side, does it In reverse als0. Power devider looks good. Problem in the rear box?
Hi sorry for the late reply, you just need to time the countershafts, reduction gear and the splitter gear in the back box, i hope I answered your question. Thank you for watching.
When the back section is bolted to the main case that’s when i put the shims, those caps are installed just to keep the timing in place. Please watch till the end thanks!
Ok it was real quick missed them going in first time I watched - how do you know what size shim? Just reuse what came out? I was replacing my back half in the truck tonight with a rebuilt unit
Hi. My truck is a 10 speed manual (Eaton) the gears stock was on high range (I was told that this was a minor issue) But The mechanic told me it's a big damage, they need to rebuild it for $ 3500 without labor!!!. I agreed. Then I found out, that he replaced it with another one, that one doesn't have a cooler (my transmission had one) tell me please if what the mechanic did is right/okay?. Should I accept this transmission ( the new one without the cooler)? He's working on the truck now, haven't finished yet.. I still have time... should I accept what he did or not?? Please reply 🙏
Hello thank you for watching and sorry for the late reply, yes sir they’re supposed to be tight. Is the play up and down or side to side? That means the countershafts are worn out it’s better to change them rather than having a problem in the future.
@@maximumpowertrain1433 I ended up rewatching this video and your other videos I got it all back together and in the truck the bearings were shot but seems like it's all good now thanks for the vids
Just bought a truck with a converted 9-13 speed. When splitting from high to low in high range it always grinds. Downshifting is fine. For instances, if I’m in 5h and upshifting to 6l, I preselect and attempt a normal shift but have to feather the throttle a lot to get it into gear without grinding. In my experience this is t normal. Any ideas what the issue could be?
@@maximumpowertrain1433 the video could have been extremely informative. But i couldn't understand any words through the mask. Sorry i didnt watch past the beginning. It was a pointless barrier to get past. Hence my frustration.. Like underwear on a prostitute. Whats the point?
Why are you not pre soaking the synchronizer material you know that when you start that up if it’s not resolved you can take the chance of tearing the material off the synchronizer supposed to pre soak them. 😢 Don’t mean to step on your No but if you research the manufacture suggestion depending on where you’re purchasing your synchronizer give me freeso synchronizers in transmission fluid that way the material is pre-sold prior to assembly and it’s still a good idea for a little bit overcast like you have been on her when you were somewhere because I don’t know you reinstall your transmission immediately or not because if you do not free to Lucy this is just like pre. Luby automatic transmissions yes even though you fill out the transmission fluid when you put it in here and you put all the Torque on the disk you will. Premature take the life out of the transmission same concept I’ve been rebuilding the transmission for 40 years I know what I’m talking about and I’m very good at it I wish I would’ve thought about making video shoot no I just took a picture
Thank you so much

Do you have to time the front case to the rear?
Hi sorry for the late reply, you just need to time the countershafts, reduction gear and the splitter gear in the back box, i hope I answered your question. Thank you for watching.
Can you make a video how to do that, thanks!!

Hi there, you’ll need to pull out the back section
What grease do you use?
Any type of gear grease is good
No shims on the counter shafts?
