    I am in an interracial marriage. I am an Indian lady married to a Tanzanian man. Growing up all our parents n Indian society teach their girls never to marry African. And that's exactly what I did n I got disowned for years. Now they realize actually the African man is more respectable than the Indian sons in law. The Indian society still treats me like an outcast but the African society I am like a princess they show me off and want to associate with me.

    My sister introduced me to bump love and it was the best thing ever! These girls are headed for a global show platform! I’m Ugandan living in the USA Married to an American man. I was initially married to an Ugandan man who treated me like a doormat, a slave, a dog!I had never known what love was until I met this American. I urge everyone on this platform that don’t limit yourself selves when it comes to love because of some society rules.Thank you bump love; this episode made my day!

It has been quite a journey but all I can say is that love is much more special in that dynamic of not knowing really what is expected of you. I have a lovely family and what you realize is that either way God makes a way for you and you will be fine.

    You ladies are really great. I uphold Racheal for standing for her faith. As a fellow Christian, I think you owe no apology for standing for your faith. Faith is not the same thing as values though our values are definitely influenced by faith. Just because there are those that do the contrary, it does not mean there are no right ones. I think objectivity is needed around faith and tribes.

But now as a grown woman looking to start my own family, being born again, my non negotiable is faith, my husband has to share my faith, about race and ethnicity I’ve always desired a white man because i feel like i want i want my children to be exposed to both the western culture and my African culture but that’s really a negotiable, i dont mind marrying from anywhere as long as we share certain beliefs and values of life. wow wow wow, I absolutely love that part of sharing how your week has been coz we also be curious and would be satisfied to know about your lived outside bump love. Plus I have also noticed that its not only the moderator that leads the conversation. I'm so thrilled with the creativity of bump love and congratulations on your enormous achievements. I grew up from a same tribe same religion family and that was all I looked up to, I hoped to marry someone of the same tribe and religion. I'm from West Nile but was born and breed in Buganda, and so our first language to learn was Luganda and I remember this frustrated our Mum, the fact that we couldn't speak our native language but were fluent with Luganda didn't register well with her. I remember she put a strict rule at home of Whenever she came back from work, she didn't want to hear any language spoken other than our mother tongue, you either speak it or keep quiet. and that's how we got to learn it. I recall sometime in high school my parents came for VD and I invited my friends, they (my friends) were fascinated by the fact that I spoke my local language fluently because they couldn't speak theirs, they were not Buganda and they only spoke English. I remember feeling so proud about it and that's when it hit me that it is crucial to know a local language and have an identity. otherwise I guess I would also be amongst those people who identify as......I had an expectation though, I know most of you ladies are in intermarriages, I expected to here your personal experiences, how you navigated that decision to enter such a marriage, what were your influences and did your support system cheer you on?

    Wow! This topic is so multi-faceted yet so interesting.
    There is always a story behind the story. One of the key reasons why people kept within or married their own race was for preservation; deeply unique qualities or practices that were proven over time as good, and they didn't want to lose them. Because our ancestors preserved these things, for over thousands of years, we still have authenticity of who we are! This doesn't mean there aren't some disadvantages...
    Yet there are great benefits with inter marriages such as better offsprings, connections beyond borders, larger and diverse experiences, and learning to live with others in community.
    I believe that we need to treat everyone with goodness & respect regardless of race and religion or culture, but there are places when we have to stand and decide to hold fast some key principles...
    Well, THANK you so much, ladies! You are amazing. Your diversity of views is thought provoking; many times, I agree with one of you, and then after some time, I agree with all of you, and so forth.. Thank you! Thank you for sharing and shining light on these topical issues. You rock ❤❤❤❤

      I don't agree with Rosette's reasoning about Muslims praying in one language. There shouldn't be a dominant language one shd be able to pray in a language one understands best!!

    • @Safy828
      @Safy828 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elizabethm7159 That’s your opinion. we all pray in languages that we understand but there are those unifying elements. Again, I loved her explanation. I think, we seek knowledge to expand our perspectives on the world we all share.

      I actually think being multi lingual is such a beautiful gift I wish I had. My parents are of different tribes(one from Eastern Uganda, one from WesternUganda) and yet were working in a different district, where we were all born. I must confess that we grew up in a home speaking English, and the language of the place we were in(coz there was no one to teach us our original languages).
      On tbe other hand, in our parents' time, they joined university and the only common ground was English. But to make each other feel at home, they learnt a bit of each others languages. So I found that my Dad knew a little bit of plenty of languages, coz he learnt from friends that were in Kampala for.the first time when they joined Makerere.
      So I really admire multi-linguists. I feel it's such a blessing
