    Crying shame it's all gone. Fred's pride and joy. He was a great chap as far as I'm concerned. He always came over as one of the lads. God bless him.

    The house and garden should of been turned into a Museum . It's so upsetting to see whats happened to it all.😥🇬🇧

    The thing with this is . Freds legacy was fred once he was gone it is just a collection of old iron. It was his drive an passion for story telling that made the whole thing special. No matter what you keep he's gone.

      It actually was The Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre for some years. Sadly the wife of the couple who owned it was ill and they were both in their 70s, and it’s not fair to expect old ill people to keep doing something that they are not able healthwise or moneywise to do anymore. What I want to know is why didn’t anybody in the area step up and buy the place and keep it going? No, everybody wants to moan but they don’t want to take any action. If I’d of been in the area and had the money or wanted to move house I would have bought it as both myself and my husband of big for dipping offence but I am hundreds of miles away so it would not of been practical to own it and not be able to maintain it as I also have health issues.

      @@NailHeavenAshford this is the problem of most people, who would have loved to look after it. Always comes down to money and time.

    Just got onto his TV show , all of them. Fascinating man and life ,even the missus found it compelling. But then found out this place is now defunct , is it? If so it is literally a crying shame.

    sad end to the life of a great man who went far too
    early, the garden that echoed with the sound of real honest hard graft and bellowed steam now lies
    overgrown and abandoned, RIP Fred, they just don't make em like you anymore

    • @Sylvia-Storm
      @Sylvia-Storm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s probably best that he died whilst still able to work. Imagine how he would feel if he got too old and infirm to look after it all.

    Such sadness,it looks like the steam engine has not been fired for some time ? the place should have been kept as a shrine to someone who was a National treasure and loved by many people,Bolton should have his statue in place or better still a running steam engine in his memory,even an heritage centre where people can visit and a group of enthusiasts to keep the machinery working,what happened to his steam engine and old Landrovers ?

    • @NailHeavenAshford
      @NailHeavenAshford 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The house was a heritage centre but was closed after the owners could not keep it running anymore they were getting too old the thing is people want the place to be kept open but nobody wants to take responsibility for it. In all the time it was up for sale with auction not one person wanted to buy it he could’ve been bought and kept us the Heritage Centre that it was.
      I am not sure about the Land Rover but I know at least one, possibly both of the steam engines were sold when his wife, who got nothing in the will made a claim upon the estate. I know that at least one if not both the engines were bought by an enthusiast who proposed to his sons that they help him keep the engines running and keep them maintained and still go to shows with them and the new owner, which they did do.

    I wonder if Heaven has pubs? If so I can imagine Fred at a table in deep discussion with I.K. Brunel, James Watt & Frank Whittle over a few pints. Goodness knows what they'd have come up with
    Fred stated that Heaven would be his workshop, a few rusty old engines and enough metal to re-build them.

      @@JohnUk65 yes . I knew Fred very well, Jack and Roger got the Roller and the steam tractor was sold and remains in the North West . The house needed structural work. Fred did put in ties but it needs additional strengthening as it sits on a slope. A nice guy that is missed by us all .
