In my case, she wasn't smart at all, just very sneaky yet equally as dumb. I was just as dumb because I kept giving her chance after chance even when I caught her red handed. I had NO IDEA what a narcissist was until I finally had enough and left her ass. Not even 30 minutes after I left her I started having a feeling of dread which after going on TH-cam I later found out was the trauma bond. I went No Contact with her and it took me 3 months to break the trauma bond. I did it by repeating Bible scriptures OUT LOUD to myself several times daily that dealt with breaking curses and God fighting my enemies. I also prayed A LOT!

I do still have thoughts of her daily but not because I want to be with her it's because I want to see her get what she deserves but I'm slowly coming out of that. She and I live within 5 minutes of each other and we've only ran into each other once. The look of terror on her face was priceless lol I didn't say anything to her just walked right past her. I've seen the new supply that she triangulated me with, twice. The last time was about a month ago, he was in the hospital emergency room, I couldn't help but ask him what was wrong lol he said he's been throwing up what looks like bowel movement hmmmmmm....

Absolutely spot on. Watch their actions, not words. Always. The truth will come to light sooner this way. I was lucky -but I worked towards my luck too - as soon as the devaluation kicked in I was out, never to contact her again. The kindness, the surface level compassion, and empathy will be there during the idealisation phase, so it is difficult to see through the mask, however these are subtle, and if you watch and listen carefully, even these are gaslighting, because any questions you may have are turned back at you; you have the problem, not them. Nevertheless, there will be tell tale signs, only apparent if you watch their actions. I must confess I overlooked, justified, excused the inconsistent behaviours (usually appear 4 months into the "relationship") initially, giving the benefit of the doubt, as I was falling for her. The lesson is to remain dispassionate and watch carefully, and if your gut is saying something is not right -this is true. A woman who truly loves herself, has values, and can share this love with you, will be consistent in her actions; and these will be externally consistent with their words/affirmations. Period. You on the other hand, make sure you remain true to your values, principles and be consistent and reliable. You will be better placed to move on, knowing you did nothing wrong.
Yep I agree on much of what you said but, my ex covert narcissist partner is super pretty at 57 and when I left her (I was a forced discard) she had a new guy in just days. Men were always sniffing around especially at her work. Not when I was there but she used to come home and tell me all about the guys she worked with most private life details. I'd say to her you go there to earn money, these are work colleagues and you always tell me how you can't get all your work done because you are so busy, but based on the in-depth personal information you have shared with me, you must spend a lot of time talking to them. LOL she then learnt to not share with me but she was still grooming them all for future supply. So you see if a female narcissist is very pretty, she won't care about losing a man or wanting him back at all, she sees men as like buses, there'll be another one along in 10 minutes.

My narcissist knew how strong I was before I even knew, but then of course was surprised by it when I saw through him and went no contact and wasn't left devastated.
He was playing emotional and mental games with me for weeks (just because he was not happy with something I called him out for) , putting me through emotional hell, I was still trying to salvage things because I did care for him.. finally I flipped the script and said to him we are over, he tried to backtrack and I said no, and I practice no contact since No contact is absolutely the best thing for self-care after dealing with people like this.. it was absolutely hell for the first 1-2weeks, withdrawal was painful, but I gained so much clarity and strength from it

I had amazing success blindsiding my ex husband. When I decided to leave the narc after 10 years of verbal abuse, I first got a PO Box and forwarded my mail. Then I secured an atty and gathered tax and bank records. Put a down payment for the attorney and planned the time to tell him. He was shook and stunned that his control was over! When he tried to lie about our finances my atty already had years to review everything and shot down all of his lies. Got my settlement and proceeds from the sale of the house and my life improves every year! In trust narc fashion he played the whiny victim lol

Once I learned about narcissism and realized I was being discarded for another supply, I was forced to live in my own house for another 30 days. The best part was “knowing” she didn’t know I knew. We lived on a farm so I made it a point to teach my children and wife all of my chores and bought them all the tools they needed that I was taking with me before I left. I cooked for them and bought groceries the day before I left. I walked away a completely broken man but I walked away knowing that I wasn’t the person that utterly broke mine and my girl’s hearts.
The worst thing n feeling was when he moved back with his mom n they were cooking together n she had that look in her eyes that she won n he was now her husband along with her other two sons where she decimated all of their partners n now all. Three are single for 20 yrs they aren’t allowed out or date because she puts them down n shames them it’s beyond sick n disgusting
