    this would be my list for uses of calculator to check answers for core pure 1:
    chapter 1: your calulator does complex number arithmetic so just substitute to check.
    solving a polynomial always find out by the roots before you try to solve we it to sense check it (remember though that list all your working like "two of the roots must be complex" because...)
    chapter 2 argand diagram
    slightly trickier to use calculators but try solving same ploting polar. coordinates visulaise the scenario using Cartesian coordinates.
    when solving a nonlinear simultaneous equations always remember to substitute then use Solve N to check.
    chapter 3 just check using the actual summation notation solver
    and just substitute your values to check.
    chapter 4 just find the actual roots by solver and check if they follow the rules in the question.
    chapter 5 use the built in integration tool to check and substitute
    chapter 6 and 7 just use in built matrix tools questions with variables just sub in values qnd sub in the same values to see if they match. Questions with 0 det simultaneous equations use the simultaneous equations solver to check how many solutions.
    8 actually check values to see if the proof seems reasonable
    9 If you want to do dot product do two vectors but do the transpose of the first vector then use matrix multiplication.
    for cross product just do the det of 3 separate matrices.

    Hi Mr Bicen I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos, especially your lessons. I am self-teaching Maths and Further Maths in Year 11 right now to take my exams next year independently, and your videos make me feel more secure as it feels like I have a structured learning environment to fall back on if I get stuck. Thank you again :) Do you have plans at all on uploading lessons for Further Maths: Further Pure 1 (the option topic) or do you not teach that? Either way, your content is great and so are you!

    Made a short list of items I would like to see on the next version of CG50:
    Show the derivative in X or Y solver, not just in trace in the graph mode.
    Provide dy/dx solver in graphing app so that x/y value can be found for a given gradient... and also for a given second derivative.
    Provide a gsolve option to identify points of inflections in the graph. And even identify concave and convex areas in different colour.
    Allow parametric equation solve features just like normal cartesian graph gsolve features as none of the g solve soft keys work at the moment when it comes to parametrically defined curves. Allow us to do everything including finding areas.
    Please move the radian degrees item to first on the list of settings as we have to frequently switch between degrees or radians and it requires too many key strokes.
    We can find the tangent/normal to a graph using sketch option but the equation of the tangent/normal cannot be pasted into the graphing app as a curve. If we could than it would be easier to find where the normal/tangent intersects other key points.
    Please allow us to adjust the font size.
    The bottom keys of the CG50 have been shaven off at an angle compared to the Classwiz 991EX. The height of the area we press is less. This makes key presses less comfortable than classwiz 991EX. Please could you restore full size.
    Allow recurring decimals option where we can enter and convert between recurring decimals and other formats.
    Allow us to find prime factors of a number, as other less advanced Casio's do.
    Allow calculations of volumes of revolution, and 3D depiction of volumes of revolutions.
    Conics app is isolated from graph app and is really not that useful... we need to be able to plot tangents or other curves with the circles to find intersections with the circle etc.
    Importantly, please could you allow us to define a cartesian graphs IMPLICITLY... the grapher becomes useless when an equation is implicitly defines. Other calculators are able to show implicit graphs. This allow circles to be plotted easily without a separate conics app.
    The new distribution app is almost useless in an exam conditions or computations setting. This is because it lacks all the features for calculating but visually shows the distribution (useful), which means you need to be in the stats app for calculations. So to make the ability to see the distribution accessible, I would like the option to visually see my distributions where I am doing my calculations (stats ap) and not have an isolated distribution app to go to. Please integrate the distribution ap features in the stats app. Infact, the z distribution shows in the stats ap. Please integrate the distributions app this way.
    When we get an answer for a probability in the stats ap, please allow us to copy / store in a variable like x/ANS so we can move to main and use that value for the probability in a calculation... often we have to remember a string of digits to copy.
    Transformation of 3D images in geometry app will be very useful.
    Please allow us to copy the ANSWERS from intermediate calculations in main rather then just the calculations line... this is a really annoying omission from the calculator.
    Also sometimes calculations line that used ANS in the calculation does not contain the answer from the part before if further calculations were executed...a software method to detect this would be nice where it takes the answer from the line before.
    Enable Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient calculations in the stats ap.
    Allow access to all Statistical Table of values (eg. Critical values) for all types of distribution such as for critical values for Hypothesis testing for zero correlation of bivariate data - PMCC values vs significance level and sample size. Allow us to access stats data as we still have to use a book to access these stats data, it should be in CG50, if it has a periodic table it should have this.
    Allow the stats app to perform Hypothesis testing for different distributions by taking all the required parameters (like numworks calculator does).
    Allow Negative binomial distribution function in the statistics aps.
    Recursion web graph does not start at the table start, please fix this.
    List commands have to be executed in main rather that in the stats app making it difficult for use.
    Again, please bring the ANS key to CG50 like the classwiz.
    Square root should also ideally be a direct key and not a shift operation.
    When we select a function operation using soft keys in main and it appears on the screen, knowing the syntax is often a problem, find a way to quickly view the syntax of the operation.
    Some of the vector operations and vector input are in different locations, bring them in a coherent place.
    Provide decametres and decimetres for length conversion.
    A dark mode option.

    • @BicenMaths
      @BicenMaths  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, you do! The examiners know this can be done in this way, so it would warrant full marks. Make sure you write down the distribution though (eg X~B(60,0.3)) as this is a separate mark!

  • @puggam3erp

    I personally use the distribution mode for statistics. For question where it is asking about distributions and it's talking about ≥ not ≤ can you just use the calculator or do you have to show working?

    • @BicenMaths
      @BicenMaths  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can just use the calculator - I read in some feedback from Edexcel that ‘if students can do it on their calculator, we should be expecting that they will do this’ (of course this doesn’t apply to questions that say ‘show, using algebra’, or ‘graphical methods are not acceptable’, etc. For the binomial questions, it’s often 2 marks - one is for writing down the distribution (e.g. X-B(10, 0.2)) and the second for getting the answer, there is no method mark, so no need to show it! Hope that helps.

    • @alitan5583
      @alitan5583 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi! adding on to this comment, i wish to enquire more about when we have to write down the workings if the calculator can do it for us
      one instance is when we need to calculate the area under a curve: can we do the numerical integration thru the GC or do we have to manually show all the workings out?
      2. i have a question on which calculators are approved: i have noticed some calculators are able to give answers in surd form while not for the others; will give a decimal. for “leave ur answer in exact form” type of qns, having a calculator that gives u surds is very convenient otherwise u have to work out the surds manually. is this type of calculator allowed?
      Thank you😊

    • @BicenMaths
      @BicenMaths  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alitan5583 1. For integration you MUST manually show the actual integration, and in pure you must definitely show that you are subbing in the limits for the upper and lower boundaries - you can only use the calculator to check your answer is correct.
      2. Calculators that can do surd form are definitely allowed!

    I have a few question about
    core pure 2 2019 paper:
    for question 8 d why did they change 15litres to 0.015 instead of using 15?
    Also for question 5 how did you know whether to use radians or degree?
    Lastly for core pure 1 2020 paper questions question 4a why are they using cross product in the mark scheme that isn't in the specification.
    Sorry to bother you with these.

    • @BicenMaths
      @BicenMaths  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t normally reply to such specific requests as these… but for 8d, it’s because 1m^3 is 1,000,000cm^3 or 1,000,000ml. So 15 litres in m^3 is 0.015 (convert the litres to ml then divide by 1 million). I’m not sure in Q5 where degrees/radians would come up, but you always use radians for calculus, never degrees. Lastly for 4a, the cross product is only in the mark scheme as it’s a common method that students who do FP1 module would use, so it’s there just for reference. There are other methods that you can do instead! Hope that helps.

    I wonder if you're allowed to use the CG50 for the IAL Math exams.... sketching questions with the fx991ex classwiz on P3 for example still require some thinking, but using the cg50 you can just find all the points of int. on the calculator. To my knowledge you can't do that on the classwiz.

    • @BicenMaths

      Yes - first you need to be in Radians mode, so change that first. Then if you go to Graph, draw your graph, then press V-Window. I would think the grade boundaries will be roughly in line with previous years, which is about 55-60 marks per paper for an A, and about 70-75 marks per paper for an A*. You can look up the grade boundaries from Edexcel on their website! There are some things that could make them higher (like people have the advance information) or lower (like giving out more As than in 2019), so on the whole I think they’ll come out roughly similar.
