      TricksterKev's backhand is a real weakness. A lot of pushing the backhand and losing control of the point. If you went for power, there were too many unforced errors. I really think switching to a two handed backhand would help.

    • @TricksterKev
      @TricksterKev  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@joek5078 I used to have a 2-hander as a kid. Hated it, and it never felt natural for me. Plus I've played with a one hander for 20 years so it'd be a huge waste of time to switch. That time's better spent strengthening the forehand

    Great match and legit 5.0 and match was quite close despite the score. Dillon ran away with it after 3-1 in the 2nd set which happens when you are already a set down. Felt like Dillon got to hit too many FH which helped him dictate the rallies more.
    Achieving 5.0 or any rating/rank is not about how your shots look or how fast you move etc. It's about the results. Both players move pretty well, are consistent, don't make too many dumb mistakes which lower rated players do.
    To all those in the comments saying "this isn't 5.0", "who is power vs speed, both are hitting slow" lol. Please tape yourself and see how you play. I did and realized how delusional I was to think similarly 😆

    • @TricksterKev
      @TricksterKev  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol, well said dude 🙌. I never liked the NTRP scale honestly. The descriptions for each rating that USTA provide are super vague

    • @adityasarang5755
      @adityasarang5755 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's pretty broad. A 0.5 difference could be big. But regardless, if you can beat 4.5 players easily, can be competitive at 5.0, you are a 5.0.
      It's that simple IMO.

  • @dogbombballet

    Tennis is so much easier today. Those small headed wooden racquets of yester year were like fine crafted violins. These clubs used to are technological advances and they do make an every day rec. player appear to be on the circuit. I like the tactics of my generation.

    • @naveenyarlagadda3760
      @naveenyarlagadda3760 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those rackets were shit. The new ones let you hit literally three times as hard, with ten times as much spin. How much more of an athlete do you have to be to handle that pace and that ball movement? If you think tennis looks easier, you're not paying attention. Watch the feet.

      Both played with some fear of making errors and not playing at their full potential. Thus, they were hitting without a lot of power. The serves were more like 4.0 or lower. at 5.0+ shouldn't have this type of fear

    • @03cobra4
      @03cobra4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose everything is relative, but these two are very good and I thought both played with high levels of speed and power (other than maybe on serves). Excellent tennis. Would either of them beat Alcaraz? No. However, I would say watching this was just as enjoyable, and in some cases, more enjoyable, than many pro matches (and I watch a lot of ATP/Challenger tennis).
