    Naveen! Normalize a backhand slice down the line. Feel comfortable with it. And both of yall... Yer forehands have such extreme grips that your approach shots are a shanky gamble. Then say the approach is read and anticipated, your volley choice is some wack punch to a non-contradictory spot. There is an art to approach shots and corresponding volleys. It requires a more traditional form. Western Grippers inherently have problems at the net. Wrap yallz heads around this. Send junk, receive junk. Send structure, receive something calculable.

    • @naveenyarlagadda3760
      @naveenyarlagadda3760 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Backhand slice down the line is a decent choice against lefties because it goes to his backhand. But Kevin has a nice backhand flick, and the shot goes to the forehand against righties anyway. A bit of a waste of time to take a risk on that shot imo, and I regret going for it the few times that I did in the match. It has to be placed so well and so low to be really effective. I'd rather develop a good down the line backhand. There's reason why Djokovic, Zverev, and other players on tour with good backhands aren't hitting backhand slices up the line very much. It's not effective anymore.
      Kevin's forehand grip is very classical? He uses pretty much the same grip as Federer so not sure what you mean. I definitely have a more extreme grip, a la Sock, kyrgios, etc. It's hardly unusual at the top level, and it's just plain a bunch of fun. And most players change their grip at the net?
      If you don't have enough time/your approach gets read then you shouldn't have come to the net. Of course if you hit a bad approach shot then you will get punished. Why would I change my grip so that I can have the same grip for both when I could just hit a better approach shot? It may not look that fast, but at the pace that Kevin and I are playing at, you really get punished if you can't hit with pace and spin. And the pros are so much faster than even we are. You plain can't do that as easily with continental. There's a reason why pros don't use continental anymore.
      I'm continental at net though. I won't stick by my volleys, they definitely need work. Kevin has really nice volleys. That's why I don't come to the net very often and he comes in more. It really doesn't have much to do with my grip.

    • @TricksterKev
      @TricksterKev  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @joetenise
      @joetenise ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @TricksterKev

    • @joetenise
      @joetenise ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TricksterKev exactly man, not to mention you’re going to draw at least a few errors with how difficult it will be for him to get underneath a low sticking slice…I’m a former d1 player and this always works with against the extreme FH players, simple but so effective

    • @joetenise
      @joetenise ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you have a very good slice it was just way underutilized in that match. Your top spin backhand is good too, but the problem is it sits up and extreme FH grip players love hitting high balls!
