I'll go: 1. Al 2. Jane 3. Doc Cochran But it's an impossible task to do a Top 3 or even Top 10 list when the series is full of unforgettable legendary characters.
For a non native english speaker this show taught me alot of english , some words are so historically probably accurate, they dont speak like today which is nice
Farnum is similar to Mikey Doyle from Boardwalk Empire (another underrated HBO show) They're both snakes, great comedic relief, repeatedly betray their boss, cowardly but also smarter than they seem.
Yeah, there's a scene at the beginning of s2 where cy is talking to Joanie about how she funded the new brothel without his help, and he suspected Eddie had given it to her before he ran off.
Deadwood, True Blood, and Newhart fans, check out our interview with TV Icon William Sanderson on Kettle Of Fish. One of our favorites. traffic.libsyn.com/kettleoffish/WilliamSanderson91315.mp3
It’s funny because in deadwood over 100 years ago this man was considered dumb among his peers especially al when infact just by his vocabulary he’s more intelligent than 90% of these young adults with cell phones...imagine if people like him had infinite knowledge in his pocket.
@stirange EB in the show. His peers tried to make him look dumb in the show...but that was my point if he was considered the dumb guy in town back then by today’s standards 90% are below his intelligence and have a worse vocab with all the words right there in their pocket.
@@ianmangham4570 keep beating that meat in your mothers basement noddy, while getting online and telling everyone about your exploits with women, you types are always easy to pick out, more often than not thin balding heads and no chin, high pitched squeaky voices with food stuck in their yellow teeth, I can picture you right now, torturing small furry animals, gerbils for example
season 1 is the entire show..............seasons 2, 3 and the movie are not 1/10th as good as the first season ........that's all I have to say on that except the next round is on the house!
This was the best show I ever saw, I heard the main reason they cancelled it was complaints by religious, and womens groups for its language and depiction of women.
I just so freaking annoyed of this guy why does he feel he needs to talk all the time does he not notice that he gets himself in trouble everytime he decides to keep talking
While it is assumed this is opinion of a subjective claim, it is actually factual that you are wrong. Many people hate EB, " but the most boring character on the show? And the actor is the dullest one on the show too"" I am guessing you didn't understand a lot of what was said and the humor in the situations he was in as you felt the need to say both the character and the actor are the most boring/dullest on the show like we see the actor just hanging around sometimes out of character. "I imagine the pool that spawned you. I am filling it with rocks. I am holding shut your gills. To prevent you from taking in air."
Yeah, agreed. Some of EB's monologues rival Al's. He's a weasel, but you really root for the guy. The actress that played Jane was good, but they wrote her into a corner of caricature. I'm not really sure she's the worst on the show though. Even if she is, there are no bad Deadwood characters.
E.B is one of the funniest characters in the history of television.
Lol as a black person who has just now seen the show i can confirm that. Lol he had me laughing every single time 🤣
Really talented actor
@@madjames2392 by far the best performance of the entire show. yes considerably better than overrated Al Swerengen
I love to watch this worm man
Imdeed
"I suppose that's why I'm such a danger to myself..."
Kills me everytime.
"eatie him yerself ya leering heathen"...i love that line
-"And yet you didn't seem drunk...."
-"I suppose that's why i'm such a danger to myself..."
Ahahahaha omfg! Farnum owns!!
he is also is own doctor
By the end of this show I loved E.B., such a weasel
A loveable weasel...and I didn't know such a thing was possible
@@TxxT33just watched the the show and the movie this year (new fan).
A grotesque creature EB lol
EB Farunum was one of my favourites. Although he seems meek and scared sometimes he's a sneaky bastard, and I also found him great comic relief :)
You can't trust farnum. But you can trust farnum to be farnum.
E.B is gonna fuck. You. Up.....and he's the kinda cunt you let close
E.B's bunblimg rants and insinuations are Shakespearean, always makes me laugh.
thats probably the only similitude with Al swearengen , sometimes they both start long and "meaningless" monologues
Polonius
Favorite comic relief character of all time. The dialogue is amazing and the actor just riffs it every time- an absolute pleasure!
He has some monologues that are near poetic. Great actor and character. 💯
"You´re incorrigible."
"I do my best"
Easily one of the top 3 characters in a show where every character is brilliant.
1. Al Swearengen
2. E.B. Farnum
3.. Doc Cochran
I'm so excited all three are returning!
RICHARDSON!!!
Al. E.B. Wu. And Richardson
Damn, Doc has some amazing scenes
I'll go:
1. Al
2. Jane
3. Doc Cochran
But it's an impossible task to do a Top 3 or even Top 10 list when the series is full of unforgettable legendary characters.
Ian McShane's Al Swearengen is an absolutely magnificent cinematic villain near the top of a very selective list.
My hat is off to you sir.
my man i wouldnt even call him a villain in this show my lordly son
Cy Tolliver was the true villain. Al S. was an antihero.
Cy at times showed compassion and was at war more with himself. Hurst was the fucking Devil
Anti hero
For a non native english speaker this show taught me alot of english , some words are so historically probably accurate, they dont speak like today which is nice
Totally under rated performance.
absolutely the best television ever.Milch writing, cast performances it was perfect.
How could someone dislike this!? This is so funny
EB is like a tragic character from a Shakespearean comedy
Our thoughts are eerily similar.
"Phantoms grin out at me, oozing gruesome goo."
“Amateur! Comes on a lark to dabble and falls to his death from the wreeeeedge”
My goodness. My heavens. My goodness gracious
Heavens to Betsy 😅, hadn't heard that since the 70s
@@ianmangham4570 Ahh, you beat me to it (by a year).

E.B always cracks me up for some reason.
Well, Scott, maybe that's because he was played by William Sanderson - as in, "Hi, I'm Larry..." fame.
One of the all time best characters ever conceived on tv. Top 10 stat.
lol...."A sad story, thats none of my affair madam...if I guess your sex correct?"
A broadtosser and a CLIP 😂
Just finished watching the show E.B is very interesting but AL is my favorite
E.B.'s possibly the second-most attractive male in the series, after Al.
So many here taliking about the character.
William Sanderson is a fucking amazing actor.
Thank you so much for posting these!!! Eb is the best character in tv history
there is not a actor alive that could of played Al better than ian mcshane.
San Fransisco! Cocksucka!
Absolutely. Al said it best
Certain features carry in the mug.
ik this thread is years in the making but DDL can pull it off
This actor was really good in Blade Runner! :)
Sebastian
@josephclift5246 yup!
Love that last scene
Doesn't get any better 😅 he's a great actor 👍 blade runner first time i seen him i think
William Sanderson played this role with deft hands
EB Farnum is my favorite character in Deadwood - possibly favorite ever. Blog concluded.
“How can you even ask me that?”
“EB….?”
“I offered twelve” 😂
Eb is so easy to find contemptable- the actorndid a fabulous job
If anything this show makes one realize how precarious life really is .
Season 1: omg I HATE E.B.
Season 2: ok E.B. is funny and part of the show
Season 3 and movie : PROTECT E.B
AT ALL COSTS
That was definitely one believable doctor
Don't throw me to the pigs in case there is a resurrection!
he played the bar owner in Last man standing ( with Bruce Willis)
How does he talk like that? is he originally from Texas
He’s an actor
I got E.B's back idk why....i just do.
simple greed
whatever happened to Eddie?? Ty's dealer did he just leave town?
Yeah, there's a scene at the beginning of s2 where cy is talking to Joanie about how she funded the new brothel without his help, and he suspected Eddie had given it to her before he ran off.
Cy left him nailed to a tree somewhere
Lol I'm almost at the end of season 2 and your comment just reminded me he isn't in the fucking show anymore

That's ridiculous. They cancelled it because it (understandably) cost a ton of money to produce, and the ratings did not justify the cost to HBO.
JF Sebastian, EB Farnum...
Them palms run in my family
Viva EB !!!!!
E.B is too funny but Ian McShane slayed his role as Al Swearingen.
Genius

Awesome character
i LOVE EB!!!
I love, absolutely *love,* to *hate* EB.
I hate this character so much that he ended up growing on me 😂. Easily one of my favorites despite himself
The only show I say I could put it before The Sopranos in the history of all US TV shows with violence and profanities
Violence & profanities that Shakespeare would admire.
The Wire...but this is right there.
If you too would put this series up for viewership I would do a backflip in reverse
You bought LAMB! With our money problems!?
As much as he is easy to dislike, the actor did a great job of portraying a turd
Incel say what! 🤣

The writing and dialogue in Deadwood far exceeds Sopranos, they utilize full usage of the english language.
I seriously doubt that.
