Love your review videos, straight to the point, no nonsense, and I like how you're not biased towards certain brands. You give every tool it's fair shot of getting a good review. Keep up the great work!!!

Had a pair of these Stanley brand for probably 20 years. Will go see if quality is better on my old ones. Absolutly fantastic tool often used to stop dropping nuts or use to hold a fastener in on other side of unreachable area. Have not found anything else with parallel jaws spanner and vise locking ability.
Can be used as a clamp.

I have a Craftsman version and broaching is excellent. The jaws are loose when unlocked but when locked, they are solid. My set has some small serations in the jaws for added bite but do mar bolts and nuts.

Workmanship is sad; the Stanley name once was a decent line of hand tools, but, over time it's been downgraded to just above total junk imho.

Don't use it often but a big help at certain times.

i love mine. Yes, it's already breaking (hard to spin the wheel now), but it's in the "cheap enough to buy 3" strategy of tool design. If you know of a better built one, please say where, but I think that patent is stanley's. Hopefully a 12" and 6" comes out.

Hi Catus-- Off the wall question, but do you know if there are any really good tool museums? I've seen many collections of vintage tools and implements, but I'm thinking of something comprehensive, a place that had some old timey tools, but with lots of their modern descendants, and that would buy new tools as they're released each year. There could be special exhibitions, like _By Sun and Stars: Navigational Tools from the Age of Sailing Ships,_ or _You Can't Sterilize Wood: Medical Instruments from 1740--1900._ I'd sure like to visit such a place...

There are a bunch of historical tool museums (I'm thinking of the museum of early trades and crafts in New Jersey)
But I, too, would like to see a comprehensive collection particularly of American made tools. I wish the Smithsonian would rake on such an endeavor. For now I'll be thankful for the internet and websites like alloy artifacts and paw paws wrench and even Wikipedia to get my history fix.

Honestly this thing is amazing, i would love more soze options or knipex to add this design to one of their bolt pliers. When your under a truck and its been tinkered with so many times and the brass air connectors are 10 doff sozes this is amazing

I have a Utica 10 inch with a similar locking mechanism. I got it as a Christmas present around
70 years ago (I am 80 years old now.) It is a much better design and is really much sturdier .

I could have swore I saw a pair of Irwin ones on Amazon earlier this week but now I can’t find them anywhere. Might try the Crescent pair

Ive had a pair for years, best $12 i ever spent, ive used them in place of locking pliers before and you wouldn’t believe what ive moved and lifted with these

I sent a similar tool to the landfill. It had all the faults of the tool above plus the lock mechanism did not lock the jaws to the nut.

I just looked and both Irwin and Crescent also make this type of tool. Based on price alone, Crescent makes the better tool.

I don' tknow why, but this tool makes me envision a very weird hybrid andimal that evolution was not kind to - the duck-alligator.

That patent is from 1982 and expired 20 years ago. They either never bothered to update their die design, or somehow they've been making due with the same old forging dies from when the patent was valid. Or you've had those puppies kicking around a while 😉

Hey there Maximus. I posted a picture of an old hardware store screwdriver display that I found in a salvage 20 years ago. It's for true test supreme Chrome vanadium screwdrivers with blister proof design. I don't have Twitter is there any way to get you a picture of this thing I'd love to know more about it ✌️

I have an older Stanley that is a much higher quality than the one you reviewed. I also have a similar Craftsman that is of poor quality much like the one you reviewed.
