Technically speaking, he is correct. Panthers are essentially Leopards that don't have spots but are black all over. In Asia and Africa they're called Leopards, while in the Americas they're Jaguars. Fun Fact: When you look closely at a black Panther's skin, you can still be able to make out the Leopard or Jaguar spots. It's just that they tend to look completely black all over from far from the dominant black fur caused by Melanism. Think of them as reverse albinos for cats (although there is such a thing as a white panther)
