  • Rhu is a tiny village west of Glasgow and next to the better known town of Helensburgh. I'm staying here for the month of February. This vlog gives a glimpse into my daily life and the volatility of Scottish weather.
If you had trouble understanding what I called the water, it's named the Gare Loch. :)

Gabrielle, WOW what an intense rush of memories for me. I rented Daisybank house back around 1981 to 1984 and loved every minute of living there. Coming from California the weather was quite a shock but I managed to get used to it. Thank you so much for posting this.

Lovely video 😀. I’ve just found your vlog, was looking for videos like that. I’m planing to move to Rhu. Was looking for a nice city to live in Scotland and just discovery this great village. I meaning, it’s the paradise, lovely and calm place to live. And there is all these beautiful landscapes over there, I jus felt in love 🤣. I meaning, how to not love this place? And just loved your video, thank you. I know, live in Uk, it’s can be a little lonely sometimes, specially to outsiders. I’m from Brasil and had been in London all the year of 2017. It was a great experience, of course. I loved all the time and not regret nothing. But it was a very lonely experience too. Even being london (big city and lot of peoples), it was hard sometimes. I feel sorry for you felling like that too, but I feel happy too, because today (2 years later your experience), I’m pretty sure you don’t regret nothing about it. I’m pretty sure you loved it and always remember it with happiness, like I do. And I’m pretty sure, as well, there is a lot of good things you can tell us about Rhu. So, I’m happy for you, although all the loneliness. And very happy because I’ve discovered, watching your video, that the peoples in Rhu are very nicely and kind. I’m looking for something really like that. I’m looking for a fresh start in new place, and all I want, is a calm and quiet place to have a nice life. And, in addition to everything I have already said here, Rhu is placed on a very convenient localization. It’s very quiet and about 10 minutes from Helensburgh (and just a few miles away from Glasgow, something around a hour by car). In london, I’ve expended over three hours in the transit every single day, and I don’t even plan to go to Glasgow over twice a week (in actually, I plan go there only once a week, just for tour). So, I have found the perfect place to live, the place of my dreams 🤣. I meaning, I had seen all the landscapes from google, it’s perfect 😅. I will expend a lot of time contemplating god’s job 🤣. Thanks again 😀. See you, bye bye.

Aw thank you for watching and commenting Ramon! I'm glad this video was helpful for you. If you're looking for a calm, quiet place then you're right Rhu will be perfect! It's a lovely wee village, and you're also right that I only have fond memories of my time there - no regrets. It's very easy to get to Helensburgh on the bus, and from there to Glasgow. Definitely a great location. I'd definitely visit again in the future. All the best with your move! xx

Sorry to hear that loneliness was difficult to endure. I've visited Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh, even Fort William in the Highlands. I've found that in Edinburgh, there are more possibilities for meeting people, making friends, and interacting with others, if that is at all helpful 😄😄😄. Please let us know how the job search went, and what it took to find one. For me, that would be so helpful. I'd like to make the move within a year, so any and all tips are appreciated! 😁👍😁

Hey Norrin, I've driven by Stirling a lot but never gone to visit. I've heard good things about Fort William although I haven't gone there either. I've enjoyed several trips to Edinburgh though! As far as the job hunt, I ended up getting a temp role and after 6 months was made permanent :) Thanks for watching and commenting :)

I know Rhu well, Rhu means " point" in Scots Gaelic language refering to the spit of land/ rocky shingle that reaches out into the gareloch, did you see any submarines heading out on patrol?

@@belight4686 Thanks :) The short answer is google! I searched for the best cities to move to and a couple lists pointed me in this direction.
By West End, you mean the neighbourhood or because Glasgow is in the western part of the country? haha. Well either way I'd say they're both quiet. My neighbourhood has gotten a bit busier in the last two weeks but that's through foot and vehicular traffic. I'm not seeing any more shops open, but then again I don't go more than a couple miles in any direction.
