How do you get it to change channels with Alexa or Google home on your fios cable box I tried both Alexa and Google home they said fios doesn't support that I have the ir box plugged into the back of my cable box via the provided USB
Do you have a video showing how to make this device not only turn your TV on but have a cable box change channels? For example... Alex.... turn my tv on and go to channel 68.
@@williamsedoma8410 yes it controls volume and pauses/plays streaming videos (on smart tvs). I don't know about changing channels since I only watch streaming services but I'm sure it does.
Hi Adam I bought the ir remote I connected it with Tuya as described but after a while the blue led gets off on the device you think that I do something wrong?
@@TechTimewithAdam It worked for a few minutes and than stopped I can not see in the Alexa devices is that correct? My iPhone can switch the TV on through the menu and voice commands but through Alexa it only switched off the TV and it could not turn on again strange behaviour
@@TechTimewithAdam Perhaps there is an issue with the Iphone and the connection to the wifi of the box. Perhaps is better with an android phone I had similar issues in the past. Now after trying for many hours I can change channels by number and volume I do not get a result turning off and on the TV who knows why. Thank you for your help anyway
Hi. I have couple of questions if you can take home to reply. I'd appreciate it. First question. Does the USB port need to have a constant power supply? I tried connecting to smart tv and my roku ultra but it only responded if asked to turn tv off. Which goes into the second question. I can turn tv off but cannot turn on tv with voice control. Any idea why that might be happening?
Yes I believe it needs to be plugged in to a constant power supply. I have mine plugged into a spare phone charger block. If you have it plugged into a TV then it will only work after the TV is turned on.
It is like Tech Time said It has to have a constant power supply. Will not work if you connect the USB to the tv USB port unless the tv is on. Now things got confusing on downloading the app to my phone. One is label Smart Life and the other is label Tuya. The information content leans toward the Tuya app. But you only need the Smart Life app only. You do not need the Tuya app. The smart life app has to be set up first and will show IR remote on the app after it is set up. You can control the tv like a remote control after you set it up on the app. After the Smart Life app is set up. Then you can set up the tv in the Alexa app. You may have to pair after a couple of times of failure when it does not connect to the tv. Meaning you have to delete and start over from scratch which I had to do three times before it connected. After it pairs. SWEET ... You can voice control the tv with powering it on and off plus you can voice control the volume up or down. And you can voice control to change the tv channel to a set channel. But the voice control for the volume goes in six decimal increments up or down. Which means it can go real loud when you turn up the volume. Now for the best part. You can go Star Trek mode by changing Alexa's wake word to computer. You just go the certain device which you want to control and then change the wake word in the Alexa app. In case you have more than one Alexa device in your home. In all, took some time to connect to the Alexa app after setting it up in the Smart Life app. And this little wonder only cost 12 dollars in Amazon.
Question for you...I purchased the IR device and setup...BUT I have 2 Samsung Smart TV's in the same room which seems to cause a conflict. Sometimes both TV's come on at the same time?? How can I "separate" the 2 TV'S on the app? Any advise would be appreciated.
I don't know if you can. The problem is that both of your Samsung TVs have the same IR codes for the remotes. I think the only thing you can do is put one of the TVs in another room and make sure you don't have two TVs of the same brand in the same room, then you can label each of the TVs differently in the app
As far as I am concerned if it can't control every aspect of you TV functions it is useless. The only device that is almost halfway decent is the Fire Cube, but it will only control what is on the Fire side.
My friend is elderly has poor vision. He has Alexa. Can he use this device to ask his smart TV to " go to TH-cam '. Then once in TH-cam say," play cowboy movies"? He's having trouble using his regular remote.
@@TechTimewithAdam Can you confirm if this does actually change volume and TV channels as I'm trying to help a person who can only use voice assistance after a stroke. Thanks Adam, really great video!
So I purchased this device from Amazon and I plugged it into a power surge outlet but the blue light does not stay on. When I emailed the company this is the replyHi friend, Thanks for your purchase! First,You can unplug the power and reconnect the usb cable, make sure the usb cable is plugged into the remote control port tightly. If it doesn't work, you can find another usb cable for replacement. If there is a issue with the usb cable, we will provide you with a partial refund. If it is a product issue, we will give you a full refund or you can apply for a replacement. I did what they said but still no light. Did you have any issues like this and is yours plugged into a power surger or wall outlet?
I can't believe my eyes and ears, This is the first Alexa video that doesn't set off the viewers. Flash the wake word on the screen, genius!
I have old rf remote control and it uses 27 mhz. Can tuya replace that or the remote is old

Sounds like a good thing to have for a person who’s lost the use of his hands… thank you for this video I was looking for something like this
I never thought of that but you're right! Great comment and thank you!

Hi, I just found your channel. Can I still buy this IR to work with my Roku streaming stick?
Does it change your channels?
Awesome I bought one and it works great! Thank you!
Awesome!
Good video, i was looking for this.🙏👍
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Do you have to have the plug outlet hat’s shown on the video for this to work? Also, do you have to have the remote that you’ve listed, correct?
I'm not sure what you mean by plug outlet?
Yes, I have both remotes that I mention in this video.
@@TechTimewithAdam when he says plug, he is talking about the smart plug. Do you need a smart plug that works with Alexa?
Oh gotcha. No, both remotes work directly with alexa and the TV. No additional hardware is needed
@@TechTimewithAdam Does the device also change channels and lower volume, etc.

The app has a library and codes for nearly every TV just like universal remote do. You just find the TV you're looking for and select it.
