2 Days Walleye Fishing The Detroit River (Catch and Cook)

- In this episode, we head south to one of the greatest freshwater fisheries in the world. Located in the heart of the Motor City, Detroit River's walleye fishery is world renowned. We found our best luck while vertical jigging the lower river near Lake Erie and in the mid-river section near the heart of Detroit. Honestly they are the most stuck up bait shop on the river always talking down to other bait shops and think they are the only people that know how to catch fish I drive out of the way to support other shops 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@kylelee1783right. I’ve caught walleye on cigarette butts. There no secret to wet socks. I don’t understand the fishery for them tbh. Lived in the river my whole life and I avoid that run like the plague.

Great video! Give potato encrusted walleye a try sometime, it won't disappoint. Make some mashed potatoes, add sour cream & butter, lemon juice & lemon zest, and tarragon. Pipe the mashed mixture (evenly) on seasoned walleye pieces and bake.
I love throwing jigs off the river walk and wading the maumee. Truck problems kept me from making it this year. Awesome video.

Just found your channel. I live in Cedar (Leelanau County). Just bought an older 16' tracker and wanna throw some lines in the water. Have no idea what I'm doing....LOL. I have patients that head over to Lake Erie for some Walleye fishing. They bring me fish and it's so delicious. It's time to start catching my own.
Michigan walleye was my business back in the mid 80’s and early 90’s. I’ll be up your way in September hitting the Platte and Betsie River for a few days. Grab some custom lures I make if we bump into one another.

Awesome!! Come back in the fall for some real hogs who are feeding like crazy. I live 12 minutes from the Ambassador bridge and fish from shore all the time. Catching a limit from shore is so rewarding.
Welcome to Detroit. Wish I had known you were coming down to the home River. coulda got you on some hogs. I've been fishing at 4 or 5 days a week for the last 2 months. I've got several fish 5 to 9 lb with most of them being 7to9 lb.

Next time you need to make a week of it and fish Erie! Troll for some pigs and jig some blades and hair jigs for some smaller fish. Jigging on Erie especially Ohio waters is some of the fastest best fishing you’ll ever have!
No need for minnows this time of year 😂 the bigger ones are in 8-15ft of water

The only problem in the Detroit area to fish is they closed most of the places you can fish from the shoreline even in the down river area. Everywhere it says no fishing from shore. Used to live in Lincoln Park back in the 70s and it was never like that .
Literally only a handful of places to fish and you have to get there early to get spot
Great video, is that knife sharpener you guys use any good, and what kind is it, looking for a decent sharpener, Walleye are fast to dull a knife.

I was there this weekend! Me and my boy limited both days and the first fish I hooked Saturday was a sturg!
