Election 2024: Councils in crisis attract few commitments from political parties

Cash-strapped councils are facing a "perfect storm" of rising costs after a decade of funding cuts.
That's the warning from the think tank the Institute for Fiscal Studies, which says during this election the political parties haven't pledged much help for local government.
Since Birmingham declared effective bankrupcy last year those who rely on council services such as school transport have been left in limbo.
