    The starting point should be the fact that they made a mistake exporting power beyond the capacity of Zesco to generate. It is not a natural disaster as this minister minion claims. Had they not exported power w would not have been in this situation. There is nothing wrong with hydro-power stations and we are lucky to have the current installations. Typical to UPND, the solution was to jump into a plane to China without consulting Zambians. Zambian people have the ability to solve the current crisis with the help of foreigners, but you have party that wants to work alone. Even the idea to increase capacity at Maamba was highlighted more than two years ago. Solar energy is not sustainable as a complete solution

    Zambia runs a free market economy so the vendor drives the commodity price. So even if there are tax waivers the vendor can still hike prices. Unless Costa wanted the minister to give him cheap or free solar there’s very little that can be done. The only solution for businesses is to import the solar products from source. Sometimes it’s okay to accept that things are beyond our control.

They told us they had proper solutions to fix this problem but it's 3 years down the line we are having the worst experience with the same problems they promised they had solutions for. @@stellamuyunda4581 don't mention the drought. Just don't. We didn't just wake up one morning and found water had dried up. This drought has been there for many years. This was a known problem even before upnd came into power. The government could have prepare to avert the worst while working on long term solutions. Remember these are the very reasons we voted then in. But it's looking like they were caught unaware. Not acceptable. We have known the effects of climate change done the 90s and loadshedding start during MMD era. So for me drought is no excuse. In hindsight Zambezi River Authority provides projections of data on the questions he is failing to answer.

  • @andychandalwenga2515
    @andychandalwenga2515 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thank you Costa for asking the hard and relevant questions. But boo-hoo to the minister for skating around every question and not provide definite answers. His responses were very depressing to say the least. The population that can afford to transition to solar energy are a very small number compared to us who can't afford such alternatives in our homes. To me the so called incentives are very weak. I never imagined government to fail miserably like this in terms of crisis management. I believed the president during campaigns when he insisted that drought should not be used as an excuse. No political leader in this country should use drought as an excuse when it comes to power solutions it's embarrassing. I want to see a government that capable responding to emergency situations in the shortest time possible. 3 years it's taken this government to look for solutions while the situation deteriorats but even after those three years we are getting weak assurance. in terms of crisis management this government has failed miserably. I doubt it's the government that I can trust to save this nation from calamities. There re so many problems that have arisen from this power situation that are not being looked at by government. People are drinking and using filthy water in compounds, there's no water in many areas where power has been going for days and yet I've not heard or seen government rise and respond to these problems. At the very least, find a way to supply water to the affected areas. Bring water-bowsers to the communities while we wait for the power situation to be resolved. That would show that you care for the people. A note to those aspiring for positions in government and to all political parties. We've known for decades about climate change and we know that droughts, floods, intense fires, super-charged hurricanes in may parts of the world are not strange occurrences. Be leaders that take these matters seriously and have mitigation in place, before hand.

    With all due respect minister please resign because you're not fit for energy minister as a proud Zambian am tired for such men in high power in this country people without solutions just feeding us there agendas, Mr president please give us innovative people this is 2024 we are turning 60 we have vibrant young technocrats who can do a very good job, my brother costa you're awesome big bro, this man doesn't know what he is talking about and I say this with much respect boss because if this continues in this country we will stop voting it's upsetting really. You decide to export because of revenue when we have minerals such as gold, copper etc that generate large amounts of worth for other countries and we are giving foreigners freely and we are selling our last electricity for revenue and deplomatic friendship please let's be serious we Zambians are not fool infact we should remove big salaries and other financial benefits for these people who want power maybe they will be serious to save their countries 😡😡😡😡😡

    The government by diverting us to buy solar, it's like a father being told by his children that we don't have food at then he tells them to go and eat at the neighbour's house, meaning he's telling them that I have failed to find food for you therefore the minister has admitted
