Great interview. We just have to be very honest. UPND gonvt must really awake. Using crisis as a shield is nothing but mockery. This is so, will keep having crisis, so gonvt must be ready and not feeding us with excuses. As Costa rightly puts, these are things this gonvt campaigned against. We are really suffering !

I don’t think HH cares Bro. He’s in support of the current USA agenda of making a fake food shortage, believe it’s a world thing not just a Zambian thing. All those countries who have relations with the USA are on the same agenda fake food shortage.
Nicely done coaster. The UPNd government reminds me of my boss, who used to make promise and great in talking, but barely knew how to do reports. The UPND government acts like this is worsst drought in history. They can't even close to deal with Tanzania, and yet they love taxing and ganishing peoples business . We brought this on ourselves. Being educated can be to hopless aometimes when it matters the most.
Costa please bring back the minister to this interview again. Allow more callers to ask alot of questions .We still are experiencing load shedding to the max . ABA abantu surely they don't care
Costa, you seem passionate... But let the Guy explain and make him look like a fool. Listening is powerful. This Government for sure has failed the people.
Costa stop wasting your time interviewing some of these useless Ministers. They had all solutions in opposition but they can't implement them today. They're just good in talking.
So from what the minister said long term we are safe if those are not lies.but from the look of things short term we are doomed indeed lack of leadership.
The starting point should be the fact that they made a mistake exporting power beyond the capacity of Zesco to generate. It is not a natural disaster as this minister minion claims. Had they not exported power w would not have been in this situation. There is nothing wrong with hydro-power stations and we are lucky to have the current installations. Typical to UPND, the solution was to jump into a plane to China without consulting Zambians. Zambian people have the ability to solve the current crisis with the help of foreigners, but you have party that wants to work alone. Even the idea to increase capacity at Maamba was highlighted more than two years ago. Solar energy is not sustainable as a complete solution
Costa, great interview. Thanks for speaking for the people. I wish you gave him some time to get some of his points across, his not as articulate as you. Minister, you were not prepared. Disappointed that you didn’t even know how much power Kariba produces
Kudos to both Costa and the Minister .. A government should be accountable to people ... I am Happy the Minister took up this interview...too much political undertones though ...
We need more people like Costa Mwansa to keep these people in check. We need the head of Zesco next I still think this minister doesn’t have all the information on Zesco.
How much load can the same Gensets sustain? How much was the cost of each Genset? Because 20 sounds like a small number. Lusaka alone has more than 20 markets
Hon Minister is aptly explaining the energy issues. Except, Zambians believe in magic solutions which are never sustainable. At the level of graduate, I expected the journalist not to be simplistic. Zambians?
Why are you ignoring the fact that the upnd promised no loadshedding? They should have employed those solutions from the get-go. Zambians are not looking for magic solutions. we just want what was promised period.
1. The government has no plans beyond Maamba and Nampower to alleviate the power crisis in the short term. 2. The government has no plans to build power plants of any kind, hydro-solar-thermal in Northern part of the country despite enormous potential.
The problem is they don't want to accept that they lied. They said dollar will come down by 14hrs , mealie meal, Fuel ⛽, electricity. But they are still refusing they never said any of the above.
Zambia runs a free market economy so the vendor drives the commodity price. So even if there are tax waivers the vendor can still hike prices. Unless Costa wanted the minister to give him cheap or free solar there’s very little that can be done. The only solution for businesses is to import the solar products from source. Sometimes it’s okay to accept that things are beyond our control.
Boss upnd mocked the past government for load shading. They told us they had proper solutions to fix this problem but it's 3 years down the line we are having the worst experience with the same problems they promised they had solutions for. It's apparent they lied. As long as we keep accepting to be lied to and excuse lies we'll (Zambia) always be in these situations.
@@andychandalwenga2515 Does that mean that you are not aware that we’ve had the worst drought since independence? I would have applauded your criticisms if this govt was idle but they are not. They are working so be patient.
