Been a fan for 8+ yrs and consumed countless hours of your vids and presence, that got me through a lot of my own stresses (Inc screaming at the screen in glee when you brought down the hammer of logic on your movie fight opponents). At least you can know there is a strong support network out here for you. A comment about your 'emotional compromised' remark - its a valid concept and its an apt pathway towards your healing. As you mention on the impt use of tools to work on mental health, its a natural and long term beneficial response to currently close the bay doors, so that you can rehab and remodel on the inside, resulting in repair and opportunities for new growth, that lead you to eventual 'emotional availability', which is a critical outcome for healthy living, and making new connections that are given the best of you. I know you will keep posting, but you owe none of us reasons if things are tough, or you need to alter the plan. And I admire your respectful mention of Mara and the years together. And clearly that you are not with outward venom and want to protect both of your online/career spaces. One final comment, for the new studio setup - pls consider invisible mounted shelves! Hey Dan, came to this news a bit late and I’m very sorry to hear about the split. I went through a divorce in 2018. My partner and I had cohosted a podcast and co-created a graphic novel which came out just before our split, so your news def reminded me of how tough that time was…not just on the personal level that everyone who goes through that kind of split experiences, but for folks who have worked together with a spouse, and have some degree of visibility from strangers who “know you” as a couple. I’m 34 and was with my high school sweetheart ten years, thought I’d be married with a truckload of kids by now because I adored him and I’m the oldest of eight, but we amicably went separate ways and instead I’m a single cat lady with no divorces or kids. It just hasn’t ever been right for me, and I take marriage seriously after seeing multiple divorces by my parents, and the men I have dated took their future equally seriously, so it’s never gotten to that stage. I say that because I already know all the inc*l-pill BS about “well, that’s because women are too picky” and “nobody wants you now, your body count is probably like a horror movie villain.” All of that thinking is what keeps the lonely people lonely, not a lack of other humans to connect with. I’m just an average, normal, “cafeteria Christian,” well educated woman who makes decent money, has had therapy, etc. Normal people are out there and it’s wrong to say “it doesn’t get better” when that’s down to your attitude and expectations. I’d love to get married some day and have kids if possible, but I’m happier and stronger and better wife material now in many ways than I was, even as I’m still looking for more. And I’d be happy if I never got married, although obviously that would be an adventure in life I’d love to have. I’ve definitely grown to know myself, be independent, and develop a lot of my skills in ways I didn’t have to do when I was in a LTR. This was a tender video and this was a supportive comment. I’m sorry for your struggles but you don’t have to put your negative experiences onto everyone. You can find happiness and fulfillment in any circumstances if you focus more on improving yourself and meeting your own needs rather than judging others and expecting the worst.

I went through a personal loss when I was quietly starting a second job and performing as a musician on the side. I wasn't fully grieving or taking a moment for myself until a friend came up to me and said,"You're like a swan. You look relaxed, carefree, and peaceful above the water, but I know you're peddling up a storm beneath it. But you do know swans get out of the water sometimes." When she said that, it broke me. We don't know what's going on in each other personal lives, but you have a community that understands and will still be here for you if you need to take a break.

Hey Dan, came to this news a bit late and I’m very sorry to hear about the split. I went through a divorce in 2018. My partner and I had cohosted a podcast and co-created a graphic novel which came out just before our split, so your news def reminded me of how tough that time was…not just on the personal level that everyone who goes through that kind of split experiences, but for folks who have worked together with a spouse, and have some degree of visibility from strangers who “know you” as a couple. It’s tough stuff and tough to explain to people, but I thought you did a great job. It’s a big adjustment. Be kind to yourself when and wherever you can. As Corporal Hicks would say, “stay frosty.” ❤

@@Starman998 Everything isn’t about men v. women and who’s available to you and being happy only through romantic relationships. I’m 34 and was with my high school sweetheart ten years, thought I’d be married with a truckload of kids by now because I adored him and I’m the oldest of eight, but we amicably went separate ways and instead I’m a single cat lady with no divorces or kids.
It just hasn’t ever been right for me, and I take marriage seriously after seeing multiple divorces by my parents, and the men I have dated took their future equally seriously, so it’s never gotten to that stage.
I say that because I already know all the inc*l-pill BS about “well, that’s because women are too picky” and “nobody wants you now, your body count is probably like a horror movie villain.” All of that thinking is what keeps the lonely people lonely, not a lack of other humans to connect with.
I’m just an average, normal, “cafeteria Christian,” well educated woman who makes decent money, has had therapy, etc. Normal people are out there and it’s wrong to say “it doesn’t get better” when that’s down to your attitude and expectations.
I’d love to get married some day and have kids if possible, but I’m happier and stronger and better wife material now in many ways than I was, even as I’m still looking for more.
And I’d be happy if I never got married, although obviously that would be an adventure in life I’d love to have. I’ve definitely grown to know myself, be independent, and develop a lot of my skills in ways I didn’t have to do when I was in a LTR.
This was a tender video and this was a supportive comment. I’m sorry for your struggles but you don’t have to put your negative experiences onto everyone. You can find happiness and fulfillment in any circumstances if you focus more on improving yourself and meeting your own needs rather than judging others and expecting the worst.

I went through a personal loss when I was quietly starting a second job and performing as a musician on the side. I wasn't fully grieving or taking a moment for myself until a friend came up to me and said,"You're like a swan. You look relaxed, carefree, and peaceful above the water, but I know you're peddling up a storm beneath it. But you do know swans get out of the water sometimes."
When she said that, it broke me. We don't know what's going on in each other personal lives, but you have a community that understands and will still be here for you if you need to take a break.

Hard to take your time online where you need content but do as much as you can. I went to the screen junkies show in 2017 in san diego and made sure I hit the panel in 2019 when I went back, you were a highlight both times. Thanks for the impact you had on me.
