Dude just gave the best 90 second monologue for the whole night without breaking a sweat or staring at a teleprompter. His talent and his borderline 1930s transatlantic accent just screams Oscar Host.

He is MY GENERATION's version of maybe what Steve Martin was for my Dad's... this effortlessly funny, confident comedic voice that just lights the scene on fire wherever he goes... becomes synonymous with an effortless and precise comedy that stands in it's own lane even amongst contemporaries. Nobody TRIES to be Mulaney - his schtick isn't a schtick that can be copied - he's just GOT it. Legend. He's catching on more and more and I'm all for it.

I genuinely love when comedians are given a topic to start with and they devolve it into lunacy and something completely unrelated just before swiftly going back on topic. Definitely much better than two comedians doing a horribly rehearsed bit that nobody understands because they're doing the bit before they announce the category they're presenting and so the most it gets is a groan from the audience. Why do they keep doing that over this?
I also like that he didn't demean or make fun of anybody specifically. He just made fun of how the Field of Dreams has a bit of a weird plot, but is one of the best movies made.
He's so great at subverting expectations in his comedy. He did a similar bit in The Comeback Kid with his President Clinton/Richard Kimble bit. Brilliant! Glad to see hm on top of his game.

And then Costner does it, he builds a baseball field. Or i guess he doesn’t build it, he mowns down corn and then there is a field. And then he is like, “I'm gonna watch ghost play baseball”. And the bank is like; “You wanna pay your mortgage?”, and then he is like; “nah, I’m gonna watch ghost play baseball”. And then he finds James Earls Jones, who wrote the Boat Rocker, which i thought was a real book deep into my twenties. And he’s like “People will come Ray”. He’s the only one with a financial plan. But what's weird is Timothy Busfield pushes little Gaby Hoffmann off the bleachers, and she falls down and she is unconscious. Then Burt Lancaster's "Moonlight" Graham and he comes up and he pats her on the back a couple of times. And he’s like; “Hot dog stuck in the throat”. And then he can't come back in the game. Cause i guess there is a rule, in ghost baseball. That if you leave the field at any point to become an elderly ghost and do the Heimlich maneuver, you can't return to the field. I love Field of Dreams, that should win best picture. Though, they'll probably go with one of this year's. Here are the nominees for best achievement in sound.
