    Spooky that you released this just as I'm visiting the bottom of the galaxy. I found a black hole system with a landable moon and it's pitch black on the dark side.

      I won't be back any time soon - I'm heading off to the other side of the galaxy. Just head for Sag A* then plot a course straight down until you can't go any further. Once there, start hunting for black hole systems.

    The bubble is plenty dark when you get back there after spending months in Colonia or around the core. I was back there for a couple weeks and I never got used to how much darker it was before I got dragged back to Colonia with the Enigma expedition. As they say, everything is relative.

    I just wish I could explore in my Vett instead of the Asp being the only option where you get decent jump and fuel

    • @BRUXXUS
      @BRUXXUS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm pretty sure the DBX has the furthest jump range possible. Anaconda makes a great long range ship too, if you don't mind scooping fuel every 10 seconds. :)

    • @PsihoDD
      @PsihoDD 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then I suppose I'm crazy exploring with Imperial Clipper.

    • @vib80
      @vib80 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anaconda easily out jumps a DBX... DBX is second (well, further down than that if you consider various increasingly more robust Anaconda builds which still out jump every other ship, because it is crazy OP), AspX is third. The problem with the DBX is that it can't fit a large fuelscoop so it takes a lot longer to refuel even after one jump than the other two. The only problem with the Anaconda is that it turns like a cow (well, other than cost, but that shouldn't be an issue for anyone with a Vette)... the shortage of fuel is a problem that can be solved because it has so many internal slots. So just buy a fuel tank if you want more... it will take a bit off your range, but not so much (and you don't have to run it completely full when you want that range back). AspX is the great compromise explorer... doesn't excel over the others, but you get a good ship at a good price.

      It really depends on your jump range and how thorough you want to explore systems. If you have a jump range of 50+ light years you could "sprint" at over 1,000 light years per hour. If you've got a jump range around 30 light years and completely survey every fifth system, you could spend 40+ hours to travel only 4-5,000 light years. You could sprint to Beagle Point and back to the Bubble in a week but not get much exploration data. Or, you could spend a month meandering to Colonia and make a fortune on the data.

    been playing this game for years(2015) now.
    not my intention to be ungrateful for all this experience that FD enabled me to have, but would it now be the time for something new? i understand how big of a challenge it would be for them to re haul the game for the "space legs", but it's all the rocks and craters, and more rocks and craters(not to mention the rings(rock-dark, ice-white, and that's it.)), and so on .. small change in color is not so WOW for me after almost 3 years. Why not crack some planets open or even apart in some huge chunks and enable the player to fly through them and/or land on the debris, or put in some new spatial anomaly other than black holes, or enable the landing on those high metal content worlds with maybe some real lava or some other new obstacle other than a rock ... or a crater ... just saying. i've been up and down and left and right and back and forward and if in every one of 400 billion systems am i gonna see the planets i can't land on and the planets that i can but they all look the same-
    (excluding those few with deep canyons, couple of thargoid bases, and some mist here and there)
    -i don't know about others, but for me it's a bother to even try and "explore" anymore.

      The Coalsack Nebula can be searched in the galaxy map.
      Google image search for "Elite Dangerous Galaxy Map" and one of the first pictures to pop up will be a top down representation of the Milky Way with labels naming all of the major features and landmarks used by explorers. The Formidine Rift is to the South West of Sol; it is a sparse patch of few stars between spiral arms.
      The last location is near the core (center) of the galaxy, but straight down until you can't jump to another star. Alternatively, you could go straight up for a similar view.

    I'd love to start exploring so much but the game is keeping me from trying. I bought the game about 1/2 a year ago and mainly did trading/passengers. Just about a week ago i started fighting. But there is one thing about exploring: If i have to hear
    *"Frame Shift Drive charging."*
    *"Four..."*
    *"three..."*
    *"two..."*
    *"one..."*
    *"engage."*
    for hours and hours on a loop i'd rather kill myself. The game needs an option to switch to a different ship, i am not willing to pay for everything again to have a second account just for exploring.

    • @DanTKD87
      @DanTKD87 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the PS4 I have 2 accounts. As long as one account is the primary PS4 it's free psn. Don't have to pay for the game again. Unfortunately anything extra (skins) you bought on your other account doesn't transfer. But it's nice having an account for exploration and one for the Bubble.

    • @Weggorino
      @Weggorino 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I know this isn't the main point you were making but you can turn the ship's voice off for just about anything, including the frameshift activation and countdown. It should be somewhere under audio options. Exploring is so much more relaxing without it.

    ED lacks depth... For example, landing on moon's is a dull experience, nothing you can do besides driving around. Maybe add something to make us explore, like caves, zapping rocks or mining to name the few ideas.

    • @unclejimmy7
      @unclejimmy7 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You already can zap some rocks to get elemental materials for engineering and synthesis. While you're in your SRV, look for signals on your radar that register in the lower third of the radar. These will be mine-able rocks. When you get within about 500 meters of them, they will pop up on your surface map as a target blip.
      As for full scale mining, that can only be done in planetary rings and asteroid belts because even the smallest refineries would not fit in your Scarab. Caves would be cool, though.

    Everyone knows the darkest location in the galaxy is the interior of FDev’s abandoned office cause no one works there anymore.
    Also everyone knows the dankest location in the universe is Braben’s smoked out brain cause he smokes too much weed and is too lazy to manage his goddamn game.
