EarthBound is a great RPG, designed by Shigesato Itoi in 1994-1995, and is also known by the name Mother 2.
It is best described as "random", in a good way. The game has a great emphasis on a humor, and indeed many things in the game are almost caricatured, from subplots to characters. It also has a versatile soundtrack.
Although this being a speedrun (tool-assisted at that), most of the plot of the game is intact, making this movie very entertaining to watch even as a TAS.

I feel like this is the Domino version of Ness, where his superpower is massive luck. Every enemy happens to miss him or do something stupid, he gets a critical hit every time, and they always drop the item he needs.
Luck manipulation, tedious but satisfying.
It is a tas, after all...

What a great run. Thank you for making it!
This game has tons of personality and humor. That ending is so powerful, I keep having problems holding the tears back. Same with Chrono Trigger, really.
Definitely one of the best games of all time, in my book, along with CT and FF6.

There’s a very technical answer to that on the TASVideos website. it has something to do with moving during precise frame windows, I didn’t understand it all though!
basically, if you move for 2 frames, the scripted event activates, so you can just stutter through and bypass them.
You can also just teleport or deathabuse through some. Check the link in the description for a better answer.

I don't get the love this game gets but this is one ugly looking game. Even as a kid I never liked it. And I grew up playing RPGs. That's my favorite genre yet this game right here I have zero interest since the day I've laid eyes on it.
