Interesting place... seems to be lots to do and see.. especially if you have to watch out for alligators and bears, Oh My!! You'd think the showers would be moldy... and I hate to shower nozzles!! but the spring looks inviting, albeit later in the year! Thanks for the tour of the side by side camping... and I hope Alela feels better!! Adios, my Friend!!
They have a guy who cleans those bathrooms to within an inch of removing each tile and putting them in a dishwasher. He does a great job. No Mold would dare to enter his bathroom!! I'm goning to start carrying tools to remove those nozzles and replace them with my own...lol!!
It is also expensive in the hookup sites. Not sure if there are bathrooms in the primitive area. Did not do a review of their aree much. But ya, I would choose the primitive too, now knowing how crowded the RV sites are.
Rick- I'm really enjoying your Florida tour. Thanks! I lived on the Florida West Coast Manatee River for about 40 years and never took time to visit any of the places you have so far visited. Be careful. The gators are difficult to spot and they are very fast on land. If you get "sand in your shoes" you'll have to move down there! BTW- Also, I really like your intro/out music. It sounds easy going and happy, the way camping should be! If you will stop by Nashville, Tennessee I'll treat you to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night and Cowboy Church on Sunday morning. Maybe you'll even sign my Aliner for me! I hope you will drive carefully and eat to live a long and healthy life!
I'll be driving through Nashville in March. Heading out to St. Louis (Kind of). Email me your address and I'll send you a GNWF Sticker Nowherefast5@gmail.com
Cool video. We had stayed at Rodman SP in 2022 (see our Geezers on the Go video) and drove past this park on the way to someplace else and thought maybe next time. Nice to see what it looks like. Also, we stayed at a place called Ortona South COE near Moore Haven and you can get close to the locks and watch boats go through (also check our Geezers on the one.) Safe travels. Jill
Thanks Jill, I'll have t check it out. When I was at the lock it was deserted. For such a huge lock it isn't used for anything but recreational boats and manatees...lol I guess they thought it was going to be a second Panama Canal.
Good morning Rick! Those campground facilities look pretty nice. Is it a new campground? Although I kind of liked National Forrest campground. Surprised how empty it was. Akela cracks me up! Enjoy the warm weather and safe travels.
The Section I was in was full by the weekend. I did the video on Tuesday, So Less people, easier to film. Now the Primitive, No Hook-up section only had 7 sites used. But it is a very rough section. I should have done a better review of that because there were some good sites in there.
Unusual campground but the landscape is really interesting because it is so different from other parts of the country. Really pretty in the video. Has Akela forgiven you yet? Thanks for the drone footage too.
Actually a pretty campground, unfortunately it is close quarters for the most part. Not new, usually clean and kept up. That area of the forest has many camping areas. Akela looking beautiful as always. 🙂👍
GSD related question: can you talk about methods you have used to get your dogs into the back of your tow vehicle when hooked up? We have an older GSD and are struggling with this as his hips don’t like him jumping anymore. I hope to hear from you or that you do a video on this. Thank you!
I have a ton of older videos (200+) of my prior dogs getting in and out of the car. One would not jump and the other had a stroke and could not jump. For both I would put their front paws up in the car and then lift their back legs in. And looking through the old videos I never did it while hooked up. Always before.
Do you think that cat print was a Bobcat? This area looks nice. Do you take a shower in the Wolfpup or do you always use the shower house? I prefer my camper.
I want to get a better shower door in the wolf pup before I use the shower. Also, if the bathrooms are decent, then I don't need to dump or worry about over filling the tanks. Its only a 26 gallon waste tank. And of Course Hot water is only 10 gal. In the Shower house I can use 50gal of hot easily!! :-)
It was small for an adult bobcat, but could be a youngster. I didn't see any bigger ones so figured it was probably a house cat. The bear prints looked small too, but the poop piles were huge!
We drove thru that park because we had to use the dump station since the recreation area we stayed at not far from there had one that wasn't working. I did not like how close the sites were at all! It's too close to the main road also and has to much traffic noise. Prices are high also. But some people don't mind those things so to each their own! Not for us though!
I agree with all your observations. Though inside the Trailer you're insulated from most of it, and we only park at the campsite and sleep there. Most of the time we are out exploring!
Rick, I had to Google to find out what a merganser is. Did you know that red-breasted mergansers are among the fastest flying ducks, having clocked speeds of up to 81 mph?

Fantastic upload my friend!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice campground. Looks to be some nice kayaking areas (aside from the alligators!). Thanks for the video.........
Thanks for watching! The Gators don't bother kayaks.... They are too crunchy!!
Nice video wish I was there, instead of freezing my ass off in NY.
Trust me, It was pretty freezing there too at the time. (Well for Florida it was COLD !!)
I believe I'd be campin at the primitive area less people and looks like bigger sites! Nice CG though I'll add it to my list.
It is also expensive in the hookup sites. Not sure if there are bathrooms in the primitive area. Did not do a review of their aree much. But ya, I would choose the primitive too, now knowing how crowded the RV sites are.
I camped at Delaney West a few years ago. I enjoyed it. Very private, quiet and cheap-$5 with the senior pass.
But did it have any facilities? This was a full hookup and resort like campground.

Hey that's a nice campground. I'll keep it in mind.
It's in a really good place. the town has a Dollar Gen and 2 Gas stations. Walmart is 34(?) mile north. But you have a lot of Ocala NF around you
Nice video of the heron in flight/landing! You have a good camera eye.
He was making so much noise, he was an easy target!! Thanks for the comments !
Thanks again for another video GOD BLESS
Our pleasure! Thanks you for the nice comment and Bless You Too!
Ocala National Forest. Also known as the Florida Alps ;) Stayed there a few times many years ago and got lost in the back roads.
There are a lot of roads cris-crossing all over the place. And its a big area!! I can see how getting lost would be easy.

I don't think its new. One of the volunteers says she had been there 4 years and management has changed every year!!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!

He can hold a grudge, that I am sure of. Next video he asserts his power!!

It was nice, and very centrally located for a lot of exploration. I may be back there next year! Thanks for the comment Susan!! Great to "see" you.

I liked the attitude in your “Some people like to be social.” Bit of a loner?
Sometimes, But sometimes I like to visit and chat with neighbors. Most of the time the neighbors are too busy be sociable! So I just like to camp!!
When you left Akela in vehicle was it cool enough? or did you leave the vehicle running? I plan to travel with my dog soon and wondering.
It was actually cold. I usually leave the car running if the sun is out, but it was cloudy and cold most of the week we were in Florida.
Rick, I had to Google to find out what a merganser is. Did you know that red-breasted mergansers are among the fastest flying ducks, having clocked speeds of up to 81 mph?
I did not know that, I'll mention that in my next video if any mergansers are in it! lol
This is not Moose River Plaines but okay…..😂
I may go back and do some underwater video. It was just too cold though!! And windy.
For a new adventure on top of the adventure, you should try a camper shower.
I'm working on that. Maybe in a future video!! Ha haha
