RIck- Great video! Thanks for featuring this very well maintained State Forest campground, the Three Sisters Springs and resident manatees! Manatees usually live about 50 years, but my hometown, Bradenton, had Snooty, a rescued manatee that lived 69 years! In the 80's, manatees would gently bump my sailboat while docked at night. They are beautifully gentle creatures. Best wishes for continued safe travel.
Thanks for the video. My friend Jim, and I were canoeing, and his paddle touched the back of a manatee sleeping just below the surface. Ker-plop - like a refrigerators dropped right next to the canoe. We were soaked, and this was on a super cold night (for Miami standards), back in the eighties. We froze our butts off the remainder of the trip.
What a timely video. After my month stay in Quartzsite I’m headed to Florida and that will be one of my stops. Have you made it to Quartzsite and if you have did you miss the snowstorm?
I did miss the snowstorm, which really ticked me off. I like snow. Especially in North Carolina where you don’t have to shovel it. And yes, I got to Quartzsite yesterday. And I’m having a lot of trouble finding my camper when I leave it.
The manatees were really cool. A very strange creature (the manatees not you) They would be fun to watch. Did you enjoy the campground and how long did you stay?
We camped at the state Forest two nights. It was nice. We really liked it. The only downfall is that Akela doesn’t get too much fun time on those trips because there’s so much restrictions.
Come on, Rick... I know you pushed the RED button!! The Manatees were very neat... but did you find the Womatees?? These are rare, but necessary for the survival of the species... eh?? Very nice Park... Nice amenities... OK, I'll stop. Thanks for the ride!!
I was sternly told that all the larger ones were the womanatees, probably carrying babies. They breed and birth anytime of the year. Maybe they really are mermaids.

That is amazing! Thanks for sharing the Snooty story.
150 manatees!!! What a great place. Thanks for the tour and detailed information. This place is a definite must see/must camp.
@LoveMtDulcimerMusic I think we hit it at just about the right time.
This place is a hidden gem. The Bass looked like he was ready to jump on a hook! Nice find.
Not sure how hidden this gem is. I think about a 300,000 people visited every winter and spring. But it’s definitely a pretty cool place to go.
Welcome to my home Citrus County Flordia. Enjoy your stay. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thanks Joe. I think it’s a nice area. I just don’t like the strength of the sunshine down there. But I’ll be back next year.

That’s cool. So to speak. But could’ve been worse. Could’ve been an alligator. Thanks for the comment.
Can't believe you snagged a site in FL during the high point of the season. Nice area! Say hi to Mom!
I reserved way back in July. And the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is kind of a low.
Just passed you on our way to the Phoenix valley from our home base in the mountains. Safe travels to you!
Thanks, you too. And thanks for the comment.
Always enjoy seeing wildlife. Was Akela able to see the manatees? Thanks for sharing!
No, he had to wait in the car in the shade. He wasn’t allowed on the refuge. And I didn’t have his little service dog vest.

I'm 71 and still haven't grown up. I was hoping you'd push the "fart" button.
I was afraid it might sound like me!!
