My opinion, Ajakaiye is one of the best attackers in this tournament. Her ball sense, passes are second to none.

Yeah, only if the coach knew

The Coach has been with these players and he understands their mood swings. He has the ability to make the right decisions. Did you noticed that Faith was not physically fit before been sub during one of the penalty shoot outs against U.S. then again, her mental state is another thing to consider. I’m sure the Coach made the right call. He seems to already have his plans and the players knows the plan too.we should just stop trying to know better than these coaches sometimes.

@@allanoh7732 Coaches do make mistakes too, abeg!
Faith's performance pushed the match to penalty against Columbia!

    • @memphisndego5031
      @memphisndego5031 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Let’s not act like the GK change was due to injury/mental state. We all know the coach felt he had a Tim Krul in Jiwuaku.
Did you see Faith’s performance against Columbia? Outstanding! She was in the perfect frame of mind cos she had the spirit and momentum going for her for the last few minutes in the game.
Again, I’m not saying outrightly that Nigeria would have won if she was in goal but we could see the kicks from Columbia were mid and someone with better focus might have done better.
Suffice to say, I’m not in anyway underplaying the performance of the team. They’re super young and have potentials. Like I said, they’ve done us REALLY proud. It wasn’t a perfect tournament. There are areas for improvement. Whatever happened was a learning experience for both the players and the coaches.

Congratulations to the Sparkling Flamingoes of Nigeria. They are truly world-class.
I salute their courage, determination, and talent. By their performance so far, they are among the best teams in the world of U17 football. They are the 3rd best in 2022 and definitely have a fight to be the Champion in 2024. While some people are busy apportioning blame on the coaches, the players, and even the qualification journey to the tournament. Others are hailing other teams for their superior technical skills. I don't belong to those schools of thought. We need to celebrate our own. Did you watch the match? That is how a world cup final is supposed to be - explosive, unpredictable, and makes you sit on the edge of your seat. The team that has grit and determination will come up top.
I have some issues with some negative comments made by people about this team. Yes, I believe in constructive criticism that will eventually lead to positive reinforcement of good behavior. However, we should not only be tearing down the team's weaknesses, spreading negative energy, and assuming we know more than the coaches with these girls. Some of us have never played this game at this level before nor coach a team at this highest level of football. I tell you, as a fact; it's more work to coach a youth development team than an adult or a professional team. The coach must wear many hats - fan, friend, parent, psychologist, trainer, and teacher.
Some of the accessions some people are making needs to be corrected. For starters, this youth development tournament is devoid of the complete assessment of a typical adult tournament. You can even see from the officiating that the referees overlooked some pushing, holding etc.. At this youth development level, there are six areas of assessment - Reading the game, Focus, Proactive, Technical, Physical, and taking responsibility for outcomes. Therefore judging the Flamingoes by their technical skill set alone is not a proper and accurate reflection of their abilities.
Secondly, we must be careful labeling what "technical skills" is because skills are nurtured in an environment. The different teams have their unique pattern of play influenced by their particular environment. The Germans are mentally strong (we saw that today), and to them, football is an exact science with precision in execution. North Americans are gifted with a "can do" attitude that is always willing to do whatever it takes or is necessary to win. They are passionate about winning and are open to adventure. South Americans are known for their romance with the ball and smooth-flowing style of play. The British are a more rugged style of play with fast attacks with some long balls.
Someone is thinking, so what about Africa? Well, for us Nigerians, aside from the natural physique that we have, we play what I call creative football, which is a mix of smooth -flowing, fast attacks and inspiring football. We play because we love the game, and it can be very refreshingly entertaining. When asked about the 96 Olympics game between Brazil and Nigeria (3-4), Coach Zagallo said his team played according to all the instructions and executed everything they needed to do to ensure victory. He then said that the "Nigerian team played inspirational soccer," and there is no antidote to that kind of play. During the bronze medal award ceremony of the U17 today, the commentator said the Flamingoes played a "Sparkling Game."
On the issue of the penalty shootout, it amazes me the blame game some started with the outcomes. I observed two universal rules or truths in the game of football.
Rule #1 - You will end up with a Win, Loss, or a Draw
Rule #2 - A penalty shootout is always 50-50 chance! There is no inherent advantage.
Some said the girls don't know how to kick; they are not disciplined; the coach is not good etc. It all just shows the level of football knowledge. These girls are well trained disciplined, and they do listen to instructions. I see some of these girls moving up to bigger clubs and the Super Falcons. Omilana, Ajakaye, Bello, Usani et al can make the cut.
Finally, as a youth coach myself, there are two critical emotions we display when our team misses a scoring chance or penalty. The first one is reactional to what just happened. You can see the passion taking over and the coaches showing their disappointment, anger, and disbelief through their emotions. However, in a split second, they regain themselves and express optimism and encouragement to their players by telling them "let's go, we can do it" You can see this behavior in the German coaches as their players lose the penalty. Congrats once again to the Flamingoes and the Coaching crew. We are very proud of what you did in this tournament. You did a fantastic job, and I also salute your effort. See you in 2024

My brother, you said it all. I love your submission. Where are the people ranting and tearing down this team saying the won the USA team by luck? I remember when the qualified for the Quater finals, a Nigerian came to boast on one of the TH-cam videos I watched that the USA or Brazilian team would teach these Naija girls a lesson, just because he felt they're not technically sound. So who took the bronze medal today & is crowned the 3rd best team in the world of under-17 female football? Where is the Brazil & USA that he bragged about? I believe that the match against Columbia wasn't the Flamingos game, & so it is with this game it wasn't that of the German team also. Congratulations to the Flamingos, you made us proud today.

Well deserved win by the Nigerians, and also considering the usual partiality by the officials towards the African teams over and over again, but you know what? If you got it, you got it, and who Jah blessed no one can curse period. You can see once again, how they allowed a very obvious offside goal, even when the lines woman raised her flag notifying the refereee of the offside by 2 or 3 of the German players. Is a shame to the officials and a very sad one indeed l must have to say y'all!! Guess what? Nigeria still won the game isn't that beautiful? Shame to the b******ds !!!
