    • @dejijames4516
      @dejijames4516 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      France was not leveraging on any diversity. They simply didn't have the women that could fill those roles otherwise they wouldn't have picked the African ladies. France is not a good friend of its former colonies in Africa as it steals from them, sponsors coups and keeps the countries perpetually poor and unstable. Please get your facts right next time.

    People saying this coach is better than Waldrum has forgotten that it was Danjuma that coached the Suoer Falcons against Ivory Coast in an Olympic qualifier years ago. That was when Thomas Dennerby left. They were appalling in that match, and Ivory Coast was quite better in all he departments of the game even at our own backyard. Coaching a senior national team is quite different from handling an age grade team. We all saw how great Siasia was with our junior teams but didn't achieve much with the Super Eagles. Even Manu Garba and Amu that did well with Nigeria u17 teams failed woefully with the immediate senior teams which were u20.
    Waldrum isn't a bad coach but out of impatience, we will drive him away. Only few coaches around the world could manage 9 women against 11 for an upward of 50 minutes and still held on until the penalty shoot out against a North African team at tthe latter's backyard. We should all remember that in the match, the players given the order were the best we had but he still managed the game so so well.
    That was a key talking points of that tournament. He needs more time to build that team, and knowing there was a kind of conspiracy from CAF to ensure Nigeria didn't win this time around, it would be difficult for Waldrum to do much.
    As per this u20 team, the early signs are good. But anytime I watch the Nigerian unior teams, I pay less attention to their winning or losing, but the quality of players who could step up to replace the aging players in the senior team. That's the goal of age grade competition. It's the breeding ground for the main team. With what I saw yesterday, I'm glad to say Suoer Falcons' future is very bright. I can mention 5 players in that team who could have done very well in Morocco. I'm so impressed with Idoko, Sebastian and Demehin. In short, the team reminds me of the 2012 set. Their midfield is one of the best I've seen so far in the tournament. They are a joy to watch. They've greatly improved since they made the WC. I wish them all the best.

      I agree with you to an extent, but Danjuma had no time to build the Falcons team then. That ivory coast game must have been his first match in charge of the senior team. Correct me If I'm wrong. I'm sorry to say this, Waldrum has no plan B. Selecting players out of position was his greatest undoing in the WAFCON.

      I hope Waldrum doesn't see these u20 girls as been too young to play for the falcons cos in the next eight years womanhood will takes its toll on 70% of the team.

    A wonderful first result for Nigeria but they shouldn’t think it’s over. They mustn’t brag like the Super Falcons in Morocco. Korea and Canada (?) are very potent opponents to be facing after this and one or the other must be beaten or a draw played with one or both to secure passage into the next round; so this is no time to act giddy or cocky.

      There is a place for experience..u can't rule that out...this is an age grade competition, it's totally different..even if they were taken to the world cup, they will still have to sit and watch how it's done.

    • @adisboy2140
      @adisboy2140 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The timing of the 2 competitions are close together. The WAFCON just ended about 2 weeks ago. It was better for the U20 players, who were already in camp during the WAFCON, focus & concentrate on the World Cup. For instance, the captain Demehin is already part of the senior set up as Waldrum had invited her for earlier games, but was left out WAFCON to focus on the World Cup. I think that was the best call. I suspect quite a few will graduate to the Falcons starting from September's friendlies against the USA.
