    Can't recognize Tanjong Pagar now. I remember the Amara Hotel was opposite the shopping center where my wife had a shop.

      Yeah lots of new buildings in the area. Oasia Hotel, Guoco Towers, Icon Residence are some of the newer buildings in the district. More to come in the following years. What business did your wife so?

      Yeah its pretty amazing. It's only through walking and filming do I start to know more about my own country and where are the sights to go to =)

      @@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV That's right, it's true! When we become a kind of tourist in our own country / city, we know many things and places.

      @@ANOLIPA Totally agree. I am happy we are both doing this for our own cities and country =D

    Great that you started at the beautiful building by WOHA Architects. It's one of my favourite buildings as the green covering is really amazing!

      Yeah. It can be considered an iconic building. I visited a couple of their floors but unfortunately they don't have great "city skyline" views

      @@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV I'll rather sacrifice skyline views for lower temperatures in our city.

    Wow! Spectacular views from those two towers! More videos like this would be great to see. :) I love the fishing history of the town you included in the description. Very cool. The elevator ride built up the anticipation for the amazing views. Great work, Alan =) Thank you!

      Yeah I didn't know that Tanjong Pagar had a fishing history and that it was next to the coastline. I was amazed how much of our land is reclaimed. Thanks for the comments regarding the elevator. I was always wondering if it turned people off if they had to "wait" for a view. Haha.

      @@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV I bookmarked a doc about the land reclamation in Singapore, but I haven't watched it yet. I get a lot of Singapore recommendations from TH-cam now lol. It sounds like you are learning more about your own country while filming it, which must be really cool for you :)

    • @DiscoveryWalkingToursTV
      @DiscoveryWalkingToursTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha. I hope the land reclamation video is positive. Our neighbouring countries stopped selling sand to us because we were reclaiming too much. If you have time, go google "Pulau Semakau", I am sure it will be an eye opener. =)

      @@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV Very interesting! That is a great solution to a landfill problem. I wonder if more places will follow suit since waste management is a problem all over the world. We could take a lesson from Singapore here. I have noticed how clean the streets are in your videos, too. That's so nice to see. :)
