I feel like he was venting the door (window) too much. Once the CO2 level gets high, he should have opened the door until the air pressure went down a bit, then close the door and replace the lost air with only oxygen (or nitrogen if it gets low). Since he would have lost air with CO2 in it, and replaced that part of air with gas other than CO2, the total portion of CO2 in the air would go down. That would make the air breathable for much longer before having to open the door again.

I wonder why they went with percentage for O2 and CO2 levels rather than partial pressure.
