"new york's hottest club is 'bongo's clown room'.
this place has everything: stray dogs, yakuza bosses, helen mirren as a stripper..
the dj is dave grohl and he's ready to party"
I miss Steffon
Amazing how Sudekis carries the whole weight of this sketch and doesn´t cease to be funny. One of the funniest sketches I´ve seen. Oh, I forgot, Helen Mirren...MMM!!!!
No single mis step. Did not flub a line. This is the only sketch that you can just leave on repeat while you try to grab a sleep.
That one stripper looked like Helen Mirren! How bout that?! -sips frozen blue drink
Jason Sudeikis is zaddy. That is all. Mmmmm
Worrrddddd
He can get it, especially in his SNL days.
Lol I really was laughing out loud with this sketch... It's so hilarious 😅😅😅
Sometimes don’t you get the feeling that a skit was written more for the ensemble and less for the people watching? I get that feeling with this skit. Comedy gold and way over the audiences head.
Happy New Years
Same to you!!!
Give it up for 2021!
The Jack Ruby reference is on point
Perfect skit
whoa david grohl
Something about when Sudeikis would be in a sketch that was just barely working - he just loved holding those pauses to see if anyone around him would break.
:) He has the swagger of a high caliber pro athelete. Unshakable, alert in the moment, plays well with others, workhorse, total commitment.
Tbf... This is one of my sis fav sketches bc she lives in florida (strip clubs like these on every corner) her last name is bongo and i mean dave grohl.
I don't know which is more disturbing. The fact that this sketch is so on point or the fact that I realize how on point it is.
The 2nd thing.
😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹Is it really like this??🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Says Theodore Olson... straight outta leave it to beaver
Lol, it's sad cause I know first hand!! I worked back in the 80's in some seedy little joints. What fun it was though!!!
From the group of Asians staring emotionless at the stripper, The plugging of the 90% water slush drink specials, The old guy that's a regular that's always there, the Hawaiian pizza and shitty food that sits there all day, calling the back room "The Champagne room" not to mention how Sudakis had the mannerisms down perfect.
Helen Mirren on a stripper pole! What a great actress she is. Wonderful that such a distinguished guest will do what it takes. Humble and talented.
I take it you've seen _Caligula_ ?
She is beyond awesome.
The joke is, I'm pretty sure she's mire sexual than anyone else there
This woman has appeared nude in more movies than you have fingers.
She's been here since the place opened in 1970. 😂
I feel like the fact that the audience is barely laughing makes this funnier somehow.
Either they're not familiar with strip clubs, or they're too familiar with strip clubs and feel like it hits them too close to home, lol.
"They call her lace because she's thin, white, and full of holes. One's from a bullet!" 😅😅😅
lol
Sudekis totally owns this sketch. His timing is perfect
His delivery is legendary!
One of the GOATs
Shotgun Geniez in Hamburg, Iowa was the best strip club I've ever been to. The girls were very "interested" in performing "special activities" if you know what I mean. I met my wife there and we had the best 6 months of marriage...until she cheated on me with the pool boy and his 5 friends.
@@TicklerDude lollllll
Oh he was playing that part on time!!! When Dave Grohl came out and said that shuttle bus won't drive itself.... I literally cried I laughed so hard!!
Jason Sudekis can literally become any character. Amazing actor. Strip club dj is spot on. Lol
My favorite character he plays is the guy with a red jogging suit on the What's Up With That sketches. The hilarious dance moves and jumping into the screen from off screen is brilliant.
I have a feeling that he will get an Oscar nomination within the next five years. He is that good.
Sudeikis and Hader are awesome, SNL lost a lot when they left...
"It's the end of my shift which means it's 3pm." For some reason, the best line.
Because it puts the entire scene in context.
Yes, totally. Almost the punchline.
Negative, best line "that campus bus ain't gonna drive itself"
@@jasoncowan6137 That's a good one, too!
What gets me is the difference between the amptmospher for women strippers and men strippers. When women are on stage it's a 9 to 5, punch the clock, 24/7, everyday thing.A steady stream of dudes coming in like they're going to work. Women watching guys stripping is an event. Lots of hoopla, and, a lot more sex. Which is ironic.
Nasim ahead of our time sanitizing poles
The strippers actually do that before starting their routine after the other dancer leaves the stage. Long before Covid. Usually just windex.
@@Logan_Baron I know, but it’s sooo not sexy! They should close the curtains while sanitizing and reopen when they are ready to perform. Just my opinion lol
She can sanitize my pole
Dam nasim is a smoke show!
Not really. Actual strippers have been wiping down poles for better grip & sanitization for ever since dancing on poles has been a thing.
“Who knew Kansas City had it’s own chapter of the Yakuza”
They know what I'm saying yeah
Why doesn't this clip have way more views ? I like that Jason never breaks character for a second. Helen Mirren .. LOL
Ladies and Gentlemen: Dame Helen Mirren!
Sudeikis: Rock solid, professional, team player, American cornfed Second City touring company alum, Comedy Sportz, Improv Olympic, Annoyance Theatre, Boom Chicago, classic o.g.-style pedigree for Saturday Night Live. The real deal.
helen was the best out of all the girls lmao
from the future. He hosted last week. We did not appreciate how raunchy he was, until he wasn't.
Love Sudekis. Probably the most pro of the stack. He nails it soooo much.
"SHE WROTE THE MOVIE COCOON!"........my favorite line by far!
How did I just now discover this skit?
Covid-19. Same here.
Same
Same...
" She's been her since the place opened in 1970 , and she's got the BUSH to prove it "
This sketch hits different now knowing Jason wrote it as his goodbye sketch.
This is the character he talked about but not the goodbye sketch. He stayed til season 38, this is from 36.
Kristen left before Jason
You’ve angered me Lola.
I too would like a copy of the music ON CASSETTE
i could watch a 1,5 hour version of this
me too lol. it's so relaxing.
Preach! Man, that’d be brilliant!
Sign me the fuck up
As a former strip club DJ, Can confirm
Nice job.
As a former strip club "entertainer" in the 90s, I concur. Our DJ was named Cochise lmao
It's so much cooler knowing it's real parody. Was really impressed with Jason already, this was a bit different and he also held like a rock.
If Dave Grohl wasn’t such a super famous millionaire rock star, you’d think he was just a regular Joe cast member. Love him.
My friend and I always joke that these strip club DJ's actually go to some type of DJ college somewhere as they always sound the same.
"actually"
There's some hayseed radio DJ's out there that do the same. Mostly on "classic rock" stations!
I think it comes from saying the same thing every day
"She taught me how to drive automatic" got me good
dame helen mirren!?
"She has the bush to prove it" lol.
I would have been DYING if I'd been in the audience!! This deserves a MUCH LOUDER response!!
The audience was just DEAD!
It was actually the last sketch for the night. I remember watching it. I was dying.
Sudekis shines in every sketch, there is something about him
Bongos -- the only 24 hr room with birthing stray dogs in the parking lot, Yakuza katana fights, harmful dust from state-required room renovation, a steam bar featuring brown butter skate(stingray) and Dave Grohl on the 3pm-3am DJ shift.
The fact that so many men describe this as "accurate" makes me sad. I'm especially concerned for the woman with the bullet wound and a brother in the Taliban.
@@carolyntalbot947 I don't know if an anecdotal, extremely small sampling of "men"[confirmed?] choosing to reply on a SNL clip constitutes anything statistically meaningful -- but that aside, SNL writing usually tends toward absurdist comedy with equally absurd fine details -- as well as simply letting Sudekis just be Sudekis.
The stripper they call "Lace" for reasons we were told (lol) presumably has one crazy dysfunctional story to tell about that bullet hole :9
Also, seeing one of the classiest women alive -- Dame Helen Lydia Mirren -- stagger out to the stage to sleaze out a short routine is nothing short of hysterical irony.
Clown Room
STEFAN!!
This is so pointless, but everything Sudekis says makes me laugh.
that taliban joke made me spit my drink out
"They call her lace because she's thin, white, and full of holes. One's from a bullet!!!" "Had a drub bust in here that turned into a SWORD FIGHT! Who knew Kansas City had it's own branch of the Yakuza!" Classic lines.
Georgia disinfecting that stripper pole really hits different with Covid around now.
You’ll be surprise some girls don’t!
Even more hilarious she's using window cleaner which probably doesn't disinfect anything lmao
Considering she's a stripper, idk that much
Ha, I totally looked at the air date when she came out with the Windex.
Was that Helen Mirren? REALLY?
as required by the HEALTH DEPARRTMENNNT!
i watch this sketch again and again jus for the music...and for jason's pauses
Do you know the music?
Oh Jason! I could watch him for hours. He should have his TV show
Your wish came true...Ted Lasso👌
@@robertmuckle2985 Thanks!
Ted Lasso...a gift!
This is so Wichita Falls Texas. Lmao. I’m just saying. And “ snort some Boniva” line, I howled!
Grohl and Sudekis could totally make a TV show out of this lol
Yeah, I would watch. Don’t think there’s ever been a show set in a strip club. The Sopranos came close.
I like to think that Tommy is the long-lost, wayward brother of Ted Lasso.
stefon would definitely recommend Bongo's to seth😂
I believe I read somewhere that this was JS's last skit as a SNL cast member.
This aired in April 2011 and Sudekis left the show in July 2013 after the season wrapped.
Kristen is killin me
So, Dave Grohl says "the best, the best" about the other DJ...get it? I could hear that song when he said that...
I may or may not have worked as a strip club DJ in the 90’s. I also may or may not be able to confirm that this is more like a documentary than a comedy skit. Ah yes, the good ol’ days of vests, hair gel, peach body lotion, damp one dollar bills, and Warrant’s “Cherry Pie” played at least 5 times a night, 9 times on weekends.
I was a "dancer" in Texas in the 90s. I'm dying watching this. I still hate Cherry Pie by Warrant and ACDC's Squealer. Lol
@@lala4461 A kindred soul! Those were the good ol’ days for sure! We could probably swap some good stories lol
It's a one year program 😂😂😂😂
time for me to get to my second job......That campus shuttle ain't gonna drive itself!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dave Grohl busts out laughing!!! The first time I saw this I literally fell on the floor laughing so hard I pissed myself!! 🤣🤣❤️
the delivery of "AND SHE'S GOT THE BUSH TO PROVE IT" had me howling
“Now fighting for the Taliban “
😂😂😂😂
And she was wearing an american flag dress! Irony completed.
Kristen wiig’s arc was so dark ahah
"Different strokes..."
Sudeikis feels so Stan Lee in this one. Guess makers of Deadpool watch SNL
Love you Jason!
This sketch should have Will Forte for him to play off of like the ESPN sketches they did together.
Omg, those sketches are hilarious.
Wow
I never knew Krusty-the-Clown's Brother was a stripclub DJ!!
Bongo's must be based on the beloved Jumbo's Clown Room in Los Angeles. I'd love to hear the genesis of this sketch. Anyone know who wrote it?
It could be based on any lame type of strip club, when you really think about it. 🤔🤣
A guy I worked with in NYC in the late '90s used to go to a place called Billy's for lunch at least once a week. He kept asking me to go with him, finally I relented on a Friday when I wasn't on deadline.
It was similar to the club in this sketch, i.e., _weak_ sauce. 😆 The girls were amateur-ish, the music bad, the drinks watered-down, and the food at the buffet was edible but greasy and lukewarm at best.
For all the crap thrown at places like Scores and Goldfingers, at least they were professionally run, and you got your money's worth. 🤑😄
I thought of Jumbos too Rob.. I mean, it's a pretty odd name for a strip club, let alone a parody, so it's gotta' be a nod. And since Grohl was in it.. I think him and the boys were spotted a few times at Cheetahs and Jumbos back in the day
How have I never seen this one?! Amazing! The Helen Mirren cameo is fabulous
nasim was the hottest
+Ninten Onett as always lol
Nasim is Always the hottest!!!
I know, and she was covered the most
I can't believe that no one has mentioned Dame Helen Mirren DBE as "Tanya" 4:40. Red feather boa. OMG!! 😮#HelenMirren
Right!! Thank you. I was looking and looking. It was the "aw f# it" hand wave at the end. Hilarious
coming back to this sketch now, knowing that this was his goodbye sketch :'(
“She taught me how to drive an automatic “
“Thats Tonya…probably goin’ backstage right now to snort up some Boniva” 🤣😂😭
Isk what that is, my thought was us slang for coke, or is it a product?
@@kurtsudheim825 It's bone medicine.
@@kurtsudheim825 it’s a medication for osteoporosis or loss of bone density…pretty common in women in the U.S.
Thanks
Very underrated sketch. Sudekis is awesome 😎
As a frequent visitor to strip clubs, this skit is too accurate.
Realest skit I have ever seen.
Club name from the actual “Jumbo’s Clown Room” in LA - recall in the 1990’s director David Lynch could be seen hanging out writing in the back.
This was criminally underrated, sudekis does no wrong
Strip club DJs apparently all dress like Han Solo.
Is that Dave Grohl at the end?
Yes
The best, the best
Jason's LAST SKETCH, and cut for time!
what an awful tragedy, all around...
Yyyup, sanitize that pole, sanitize the f..k out of it
Fun fact : Tommy later left Ohio and went to England to coach a soccer team
Fun fact: the strip club that inspired this skit is Bazooka's in Kansas City. The DJ he is playing is named Troy Winters. I used to work there and "dated" several of girls at one point or another. This is the club that attracted the comedians and celebrities that would come thru KC. Troy is a Kansas City Treasure and would introduce me to people like he had known them for years and years. Jason nailed it tho.
It's inspired by Jumbo's Clown Room in California.
"there is a dog giving birth-
If you could give it a good home-"
😂😂😂
This is one of those times when a huge artist shows how huge with no bullshit, you´ve got to love Mirren.
The cynical laugh, the vulgar tone of his voice, and the outfit! What an actor!
Nasim 😍
i love kristen wiig she is so funny
i genuinely can’t believe this got two sketches. and i fully love that.
Dave Grohl, ROCK ON !!!
Who's here after watching his SNL stories
jason looks hot here haha or is it just me lol!
he does
He's always hot. My favorite.
Hands down my favourite sketch of all time!
Lmao 😂 this is exactly how strip clubs no joke everything was on the money
I 'll never forgive you for using Helen Like that ... she is so bae I love her.
Have you seen movies and pictures of her when she was young? You won't be surprised by this if you did
@@aesinam Yep, and she was even hot in _Excalibur_ as King Arthur's sister.
She was nude in one and she did have the bush to prove it 👅
@@sdime9858 Was that _Caligula_ ??
I've never seen it because it was a low budget film with horrid reviews, but I know Helen was in it, and I've heard there's a couple orgy scenes...🤔😄
@@Sharky165 The scary thing is _Caligula_ had a budget of 18 million.
He definitely did his character research
I wish he had revisited Bongo's this past weekend. This is awesome!
Fun fact this was Sudekis's last sketch on SNL as a cast member
ha ha he sounds like wolfman jack remember him lol!
I remember seeing Wolfman Jack when I was driving down the Sunset strip back in 1979. He was driving in a Black Cadillac.
never get tired of this one....a classic...
HELEN MIRREN
This gets better every time I watch it
Dame Helen Mirren on the pole! 🤣🤣
I was wondering if that was her 😄
Dave grohl has too be one the the coolest, chillest homies to chill with in the entirety of mankind.
Dave Grohl saying “the best “ , reminds me of a Foo Fighters song!!
