It's not a March release. They never said that. Why are people still thinking it's a March release? Just because they released the first Switch in March 2017, doesn't mean that every single system from now on will release on that month every 8 or so years.
I think January would be the time to do it because I am excited for Switch 2 to finally see it's games like 3D Mario, Mario Kart X, the sequel to Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the fake leaked new 2D Kirby Game Kirby and the Celestial Stars, Luigi's Mansion 4, Splatoon 4, Super Mario Maker 3, a new Donkey Kong, a new Star Fox, a new Punch-Out, and etc. But I think they should reveal it in on the second week of January because February is the Nintendo Direct so I think it would be best to do it on January. But again since Kirby Planet Robobot is coming to Switch next year in 2025 I'm not gonna buy it unless they add Kirby Triple Deluxe with Kirby Planet Robobot and make it a two-pack Collection so then we would have all the Modern Kirby Games in one console like that would make me happy if they did that in February's Nintendo Direct.
I don't see anything particularly wrong with an early January reveal. But I have my doubts it will be because of leaks. I do think they will reveal at least one game with the announcement of the Switch 2 - it's the games that will sell this console, not the way the console looks, and the increased capability of the hardware will undoubtedly be a selling point, so they need something to show how much better the Switch 2 will be.
I’ve always just thought January reveal, never really had a time frame in mind. And as always, I’ve at least considered they do care about holiday sales. And given where we’re at and everything we know, we have to consider the possibility, since it’s a lot more likely than “oh, they don’t care” since why’d they hold off otherwise? Besides, I’ll always cite Kit and Krysta as a source for the “yes, they care” argument, since they worked at Nintendo and know their operations better than we do as outsiders saying what we think is best. But for the leaks, leaks are a dime a dozen at this point. And I recall Switch having a lot of leaks pre-reveal, too, back in the NX days. So maybe they don’t care, since they know so much fact and fiction will mix. Or maybe they care, but the holiday sales are of stronger importance and they’ll just focus on controlling the messaging in January. Again, I dunno, like how most of us won’t really ever know what Nintendo’s MO is at any given moment. When the industry says their best move is to zig, they zag as far as they can zag. We just gotta wait and see what they actually do. And one last thing, the release timing- I’m sticking with June just because expect the worst, because then you’re not disappointed if that ends up being the case. Worked for me and a 2025 reveal, after all.
I don't feel particularly bad for Nintendo here. They should NOT have dragged this on for as long as they have. Most people who want a Switch already have one by now. A Switch 2 reveal isn't going to hurt their holiday sales.
It is funny when content creators who know nothing about how business's work, think they know when the best time for Nintendo to announce the Switch and the release date. Nintendo has a plan and will announce when they are ready. But this is getting comical.
