I agree. Especially now that we have a trailer. I could see a Metroid game breaking out into bigger success, but it would require a bold ‘rethink the conventions’ sort of game. The trailer was very much ‘just expect more of what you know.’ That’s fine as a game, but yeah, not at all the kind of game that can carry the system’s launch.
Metroid Prime 4 makes more sense because, 1) It’s been in development for a much longer time than any other possible Switch 2 title. 2) Fans have been waiting for it for a much longer time, either since the previous Metroid Prime game released in 2007, or since the 2017 announcement.
Switch had Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Mario odyssey during its first year. I would expect games of similar caliber to be available during the Switch 2 launch year.
@ breath of the Wild was released on the same day for both WiiU and Switch and Mario Kart 8 only sold 8 million units on WiiU, so not everyone played it.
MP4 as a launch title makes so much sense. And the thought it may come out in the next 3-4 months blows my mind. It's almost the amount of time passed from september, which flown by really fast.
This is basically the Wii U's launch lineup -- lot of third party games, and medium-quality first party games like Nintendoland and New Super Mario U. This is a bad idea, so it's gotta be true.
I wonder if the C-button is like the C button has been before. Perhaps it changes the analog stick or buttons functions on the fly i.e. change those buttons to be the like C-stick or C-buttons on the GameCube or N64 controller, respectively.
As this year draws to a close, I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of year ahead is in store for us Nintendo fans! With Prime 4 Beyond, Pokemon Legends ZA, and XCX DE, and hopefully new 3D Mario for the 40th anniversary and hopefully the long awaited Switch 2!
It would actually be a very smart way to launch Metroid into the orbit of everyone's perception as one of Nintendo's top IPs. It seemed to do well for Metroid Dread.

I don't know, I think the Switch 2 needs a strong first party system seller at launch, third party games are nice to have but they are no reason to buy the console as they will probably have been available elsewhere. Also, regarding something similar to the Switch launch, then perhaps the BotW remaster, that would be identical.😂
Look at the top 5 best selling IPs on Switch: Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, 3D Zelda and 3D Mario. We can eliminate Zelda for sure but if Switch 2 doesn't launch with one of the other 4 it'd be disastrous.

3D Mario and Mario Kart 9 not being a release game when it's been going on 8 years since Odyssey came out and going on 11 years since Mario Kart 8 first came out makes no sense. The way I see it is there's a clear pattern: Leakers who get a couple of things right and then start making TONNES of statements left and right about every topic, as if they have access to all the information inside the whole company. I never believe these people. That's what Zippo was like, what Marcus Sellars was like I think, and now Samus Hunter. I think they get exposed to some real info, then they start guessing a tonne and just because they had some stuff right once upon a time, they get taken seriously. Yes, they got stuff right before so they might get stuff right again. But when they constantly talk about so many things, it's clear they're guessing. So it's just not interesting to listen to them at that point. That's why I don't take NashWeedle seriously either. Yes they got some stuff right. But then they made such a huge number of statements afterwards and it's like "really? do you really have access to ALL that stuff?" I don't buy it.
Prime 4 coming out at the end of the systems life is because of it being scrapped and restarted, BOTW was not restarted lol. Prime is is a Switch 1 game only. Another 3 months or so and I can finally stop hearing people saying it will be cross gen. I hope SOME of these people have the balls to admit they weren't speaking logically but only what they WANTED to happen and they learn their lesson.
They can’t really drop the price too much now as they need to focus on making sure the Switch 2 is as appealing as possible to consumers. I’d imagine they’ll just drop the OLED and the regular model, so you can choose between Switch 2 or Switch lite, so there’s strong feature differentiation as well as price differentiation between the two gens.

Saying Mario or Mario Kart 9 would hinder third party sales is nothing...that's ALWAYS been the case. Almost nobody buys a Nintendo system for 3rd party games. Those 3rd party companies know that. Even with Switch 2 being stronger, it's still going to get the weakest versions of 3rd party games going forward. That's just life man. Accept it and move on. To think that it would be a good and exciting thing to launch a system with old 3rd party games that came out years ago like say Elden Ring is not a sign of a healthy system.

(Community is still my thought.) Metroid Prime 4 as launch title in late spring is Nintendo giving up on MP2 and MP3. Can't give MP2 and MP3 in February, and MP4 just a 3-4 months later. Its already troublesome to try three in the calendar year and expect them all to hit marks in the same holiday season, but to do three games in sucha short timespan smells like disaster to everyone outside the hardcore fan group. And an avoidable disaster since MP2 has been presumed done for over a year and could have had a 2023 or 2024 release and its own holiday window to build upon, more evenly spaced between Dread and Prime 4.

I already knew a year ago that there won’t be a Mario game to be for a launch title. I still think MP4 is going to be launch title if the super switch come by June. Why? MP4 have the higher budget after years of making and want to be sure to expand its success like once with Luigi Mansion from the GameCube.
