    Why can't your phone do the same (with the right software)?

    • @VisionaryPathway
      @VisionaryPathway 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

      Apple & Samsung are pretty slow when it comes to releasing or working on anything revolutionary (in terms of OS or features).
      Additionally, I think it is extremely hard for Apple or Samsung's hardware to give permission to a privately-released app to gain access/control to EVERYTHING about a phone.. especially without interfering or making it so you cannot use the phone while the AI-agent is performing phone-use-encompassing tasks.
      That should answer your question

    • @VisionaryPathway
      @VisionaryPathway 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      So, in essence, a private company, who's primary objective (#1 focus) is creating a solution like this "r1" system, they're going to achieve it much faster than a company that's like a dinosaur so to speak. It's similar to how governments are extremely old and slow to adapt to new technologies.. whereas a new company with young and adaptable minds and company structures/systems achieve everything faster when it comes to pioneering and revolutionizing any industry. Or just a highly adaptive company (which is rare, and is NOT Apple or Samsung).

      @@VisionaryPathway Good point and I agree that Apple and others will be slow to implement. Just don't like the idea of carrying around two devices (phone + R1), but I do see its utility. Can't wait to see how it works out in the wild . . .

      @@shaunralston Yeah, that's a fair point. Although, maybe the utility it provides will be so immense, that we view its presence in our pocket at the same level of importance (or higher) as a wallet or smartphone

    Wow, Teenage Engineering is really blowing up these days. The OP-1 is a unique and quirky device, but it's a decidedly niche instrument that has done surprisingly well and has demonstrated staying power. They're currently making waves with the EP-133 music sampler that looks like an old school calculator had a baby with a Speak and Spell. And now they've created the hardware for this innovative product that represents a massive leap in personal devices. I think they've graduated to Adult Engineering.

      I think this will eventually take the place of cell phones. I mean if the R1 does everything and can talk to all apps (an actual action model rather than just language), then why need a smartphone? Unless I'm missing something. Still, I probably will wait to see how it does first before giving up my smartphone. Lol!

    • @dougrobinson2024
      @dougrobinson2024 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Lo-vr9ys If nothing else, I can see this approach and technology could and should be integrated into a phone. You could have your "old fashioned" app slde, where you choose which app to use, and you'd tap on the icon to start it and it's all manual - OR - you could switch to the Rabbit AI mode, and just tell the phone what to do, and it would do all that manual work for you, using your own apps (and a lot more).
      That, combined with a really great phone like the higher end Apple or Samsung phones, and you'd have a killer, killer app indeed!

      Ordered mine yesterday, so seems I made the 3rd batch (march release), saw a report today that they sold out of batch 3, next batch is for July release. this just goes to show, that people want a natural talking interface, and I am sure Samsung, Apple, MS, Google etc will now rush to get their own on the market. and yes it will be nice to have these features in my regular smart phone, and maybe, the big guys, will have an option for smart phones, that can operate in a minimalistic agent style mode like the rabbit.
      the reason I pre-ordered, is I want to be part of where this technology goes, consumers/users will determine, how AI will interact with people also it's important that there is no monthly fee involved, except optional data chip subscription. this is the ground floor, the infancy, 30 years from now, people will be talking about this stuff the same way us old timers talk about our Commodore 64, Sinclair, TRS-80, etc. like all new technology, it will become obsolete quickly, but thats ok, we will learn and define where it goes while having fun with it.

      i see this device even more accessible to people that are visually impaired compared to a regular smart phone, simply because the interface is audio based, natural talk input, and information is given mostly by audio.

      Because your smart(?)phone uses apps as stand-alone experiences. They are siloed experiences. Whereas the Rabbit will unify the majority if not all of your apps into 'one' app. For current smartphones to undertake something like this I would imagine they would have to integrate something like this very early on in the phones development. They would also have to create a totally new GUI/UI and UX. Which means a new phone style/design too potentially.
