- I misunderstood the difference between "counter" and "punish" grabs, thinking they were the same thing.
I speak of counter-hitting at the end of the video, while i'm presenting a punish-grab at the start of it.
Punish-grabs are UNbreakable (grab with sound effect).
Counter-grabs have 10frame break window (14frames in patch 1.04)
Tekken 8 grabs are complicated, my bad. - เกม
As a Jack player I didn't know this. Appreciate it
Glad to hear it.
Be sure to punish-grab to guaranteed both hits.
This has been the case since at least Tekken 7 (not sure about prior installments). The unique thing about this grab is that Jack recovers almost EXACTLY at 14f, making it impossible to buffer the follow ups, so you gotta "just frame" the the input. You can also get f1,1 at the wall which will do some pretty sick damage.
Fun fact: Running 2 for Jack was +12oh in season 1 (and I thnk 2) of Tekken 7, which guaranteed this grab and the follow up one for ridiculous damage especially with floor or balcony breaks. They nerfed it to +10oh only tho.
I played Gigas in T7 so i'm not familiar with Jack-7's tech, but that stuff sounds good.
I heard from friends he did have grab combos in 7.
This combo in my video does feel 'just frame', though i can land it while mashing from a very specific point pretty consistently.
I do hope Jack-8 won't get frame nerfs since i like how he plays right now.
Might start learning jack his moves and combo are really satisfying to me
You should.
Jack has strong combos, and funny gimmicks to use against people.
thank you this is such a good tip
You're welcome.
I hope you have fun with it.
I’m happy that king isn’t the only one who has this type of scenario
King also has an unbreakable crouch-grab?
Nice!
@@DeeDee-pw9pmevery crouch grab is unbreakable, which means drag has multiple too
Oh sh!t that's awesome and scary at the same time.
Nice! Huge buff for Jack near wall d+1+3 and floor break d+2+4
I'm not sure what you mean by that.
@@DeeDee-pw9pm Jack's d+2+4 throw breaks floors in T7, and his d+1+3 breaks walls, does it not do the same in T8?
Awesome!
👍
Sick
Heck Yeah!
Very nice bro
👍
Saw that it left the opponent crouching and it was the first thing I tested, lol. Timing feels pretty finicky, can't get get it when mashing for it half the time. You really have to just get the timing down.
Timing is indeed very finicky and i do mash close to the input window to make sure the game is getting inputs whenever it can process one.
You can see in the video, where my inputs are displayed, when i start mashing.
But it's still finicky as heck!
I like to time it based on when Jack's right foot starts moving after the 1st throw.
This is great 👍🏾
Much appreciated 👍
But is this guaranteed? It's a grab and grabs can be broken out of.
Jack has another option from there, his i14 2 hit string that is 100% guaranteed, but that was known since Tekken 7
True.
The first grab is indeed breakable, but guaranteed on counter-hit, which is what i suggest people do because of the 2nd grab being unbreakable.
@@DeeDee-pw9pm First grab is not guaranteed on counterhit of regular moves, but it does cause a smaller break window so it's harder to escape. It is guaranteed (unescapable) if it counters a parry, reversal or armor move. th-cam.com/video/zDYD-P7nyL8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ttrc1oOXtsVPaxPp
Throws are a lot more complicated than i thought.
I'll make some changes to my title and description to avoid being misleading.
I haven't had a single opponent break a punish grab, so i just assumed they were guaranteed.
Thanks for sharing that video.
Only the first grab can be broken
Punish grabs are unbreakable, they have a distinct sound and effect like when you grab someone out of powercrush.
Counter throws don't have the effect and people don't tend to break them on purpose due to the small throw window and most people don't expect to get counter thrown
As a jack main, this combo is REALLY good, yet hard to pull off!
The beautiful part about it is that its FULL damage (no grey life)
Keep up the good work! We'll have to lab together sometime! :)
I appreciate it.
We can definitely Lab some time and play some matches.
wow. that's not easy
True, the input window is very tight.
But mashing can help.
I like to hold the [DOWN] input after pressing [d/b+2+3] for the 1st grab, and then mash for either 'Gun Bomb' [Crouching opponent d+1+3] or 'Iron Gunman' [Crouching opponent d+2+4] from a certain point in Jack's animation based off his foot or shoulder movement.
@@DeeDee-pw9pm thanks for the tip!
