    Cinematography perfection. The simple but yet complex storytelling just captures the exact moment for us all to experience. I’ve been watching gritty films for years now from the beginning and not once have I ever fast forwarded or felt board through any episode. You guys make a great team! Keep up the great work guys!

    Another awesome episode! Super solid footage Brian! I love that I can watch this in 4k on my TV. It really shows just how awesome the footage really is! It is so awesome that you guys were able to get redemption with Red lighting, and it sounds like maybe you get redemption on chocolate as well. Can't wait to see the next episode! Congratulations Ryan on finally getting Red Lightning! Stud bear to say the least!

    While I was watching this video, my wife commented, “what do you think about shooting a bear at that range?” My response was, “I don’t have a problem with it because of the confidence and methodical approach that Ryan takes his shots.” You guys are professionals at executing those shot sequences that throw so many others into a frenzy and make bad decisions in a rush. Great film and good work once again! Can’t wait for next week.

    • @GrittyGearAndPodcast
      @GrittyGearAndPodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you. We are definitely not long range guys-we take most of our animals at less than 300 yards. We stretched this shot to 383 yards. Rinella keeps all his shots under 400 yards-I think that’s a wise choice.

    • @the_endless_hunter
      @the_endless_hunter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GrittyGearAndPodcast I agree. I appreciate the calm approach to even the longer shots that you guys have taken. Too many guys can’t even make a 250 yard shot because they get in a rush. Glad to see you guys back on the screen 😉

    You guys do my brother's and my dream hunts. We hike around a lot like you guys but this next hunting season we'll be investing in a packing tent with a small stove to get in further and have a warm tent to sleep in.

    • @GrittyGearAndPodcast
      @GrittyGearAndPodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Right on! I love the Seek Outside Cimarron and a BIG Seek Outside stove-after years of using them, we prefer a stove that’s oversized for the actual shelter we’re packing. The extra size only adds a minimal amount of weight but adds a massive amount of extra heat and is easier to use.

    • @ngtlaw
      @ngtlaw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      for what it’s worth from a stranger on the internet, can confirm, dont get a small or medium stove. get the large, way less saw work and you can pack it with more wood which equals more heat in cold temps and also longer burn time so less waking up to stoke the fire.
      edit: added bonus, you burn way less stove fuel, you can melt snow/heat water etc.

    Red lightening is an amazingly beautiful bear. I’m sure that will be an unreal mount. Since you carry both bear spray and pistols, what do you reach for first? I have a 10mm and am going to follow your example of carrying bear spray as well during archery elk season. I find I watch your videos more so, as I want to learn more vs just watching a hunt. And I agree with your wife, please share more about nutrition, as I’m older now and need to stay healthy and fit.Thanks for sharing your hunts and teaching, very much appreciated.

    • @StHealthyHunter
      @StHealthyHunter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depending on the situation but going for the spray first, I like the pistol to scare em off if out a little ways..

    • @soonerfrac4611
      @soonerfrac4611 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m just shocked that y’all had a P365XL! I know 9mm hard cast will do the job I just don’t think I could trust my life to a 9mm as primary bear gun.
      Spray is good but I think people overestimate the effectiveness and situations where spray is useful. I spent 14yrs professionally carrying OC spray and can tell you that often it’s the worst thing you can use. Wind, confined spaces, so many times where other tools are better. If you’ve spooked a bear because you walked up on it and mutually surprised each other, it’s probably because the wind prevented him from smelling you. That means it’s probably blowing back at you, which means you’re going to eat as much or more spray than the bear. Ever tried to fight after being sprayed? Or a bear that comes in your tent? Spray against a bear that’s actively hunting you and in a confined space is bad.
      Definitely carry both and be willing to use both.

    • @StHealthyHunter
      @StHealthyHunter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@soonerfrac4611 the reason I stated “depending on the situation” is of course if wind is in your face. I too have spent many many years guiding around Alaskan griz, Russian griz and hunting around lower 48 griz.. I’d prefer to carry a sawed off shotgun like I carried as a guide but that’s not feasible when backcountry hunting. We carry spray, we carry 9mm with hard cast bullets and we’re hunting with multiple people generally. The multiple people is what’s going to save your life if a g bear really wants to get ya. Everyone has an opinion on which caliber pistol is best, 9mm has killed more g bears than any other caliber if you look at the stats. Not because of its power but because folks will actually carry it as well as shoot it with confidence. You carry what your confident in and will actually pack..I’ll do the same👍

    No other channel tells the story like you guys do. I feel like I got to come along for the adventure. I love the camera angles with the dotted lines and route to your shot and wind direction. So awesome!! All I ask for is more content!!

    There is so much to like about all of your videos. Story telling, dream hunts, beautiful places, etc. But from a hunting perspective, I love and admire that you guys always try to get closer and shoot at ethical ranges. Anymore, with the popularity of long-distance shooting, which is fun, but for hunting, it is more fun to close the gap and test your stalking skills. I appreciate that you guys include the stalk and limit the ranges of your shots.

    Another great episode! The quality of your footage/content never ceases to amaze me, especially considering the work it takes to get it from the weight of the camera gear to the distance you have to carry it. I hope you never decide to stop filming! It would be interesting to hear you talk about your filming setup again sometime on the podcast. I know you've talked about it before but I'm always looking for ideas to improve my setup. Thanks again Brian, and I can't wait for the next episode!

    Pretty bear.....congrats Ryan. I was really surprised at the effectiveness of that shot placement. Impressed with that 6.5 Weatherby for sure and the model weight is sweet. Was really nervous about that grizzly. They are so unpredictable esp in the spring when they are so hungry, maybe the saving grace is that they prefer greens to start the season off and get their gut health where it needs to be. Loved the animation scenes where you displayed the scenario. Great work guys. Still say you Boyz, of all the contributors have the most bark on ya! Be blessed with all that you need.

    The amount of patience it takes to back-out when the wind wasn't right astounds me. I've blown two mule deer this year because my lack of patience even when I knew the wind wasn't right. Live and learn, but still amazing to see someone willing to climb a hill just to turn around and go back down due to wind. Keep up the good work. Was seriously looking forward to this video when I was returning home from my hunt!

      Can't outrun the wind. I wish I had this kind of patience in my younger days--I messed up some pretty epic opportunities back in the day.

    I like how that beastly red wasn’t in too big of a hurry to run off from that grizz. Definitely an older bear. They need to start grizz hunting back up in the lower 48 make em more scared of us anyway what is your thoughts on that?
