    Mari-Lisa and the other fella seemed like awesome storytellers. Glad you had fun on this adventure and explored a new avenue: hitchhiking.

    Nice. You are very brave person. I never do Hichhikinng and I am male. I know that almost 50% are mad on hitchhikers, and always there are some maniacs and predators. Its under 1% but there are somewhere around. Maybe best way is to rent something, maybe bike, electro-bike or even car. But I know, never enough budget. Nive travel... Good luck in future, and at home if you are going to go in Italy after Island.

    Alway draw a card to display it helps and make sure you pick a place to stand where a car can stop for you , I’ve went all over Ireland doing this

    When I lived in the English countryside people would often offer me a ride on a summer day & were always friendly & insistent on taking you to your destination even if it was out of the way for them. They would expect & not accept anything in return other then a thanks ! Good people.

    Wow, how brave and wonderful experience you got. I was gonna say, you got picked up by locals! I drove and camp around Iceland on my own a couple of years ago. Honestly, I was scared to pick up a hitchhiker since I am often “lost” most of the time with no clear destination, just exploring whatever side road I find interesting out of curiosity 😅 But thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure. I am already planning of going back again, hopefully next year.

    I really enjoyed this video. You are much braver than I would ever be. It just shows that if you are prepared to push yourself into situations you wouldn't ordinarily engage in, you can open yourself up to some wonderful experiences.
    The star of the show (apart from Mary Jane obviously!) is the Icelandic scenery. Absolutely stunning and otherworldly. Can't wait to visit one day. Also a shout out to the lovely people you encountered. I eagerly look forward to your future videos. All the best.

    Wonderful video!! The landscapes you filmed from inside the car look magical and very cinematic, and the people you met were very interesting. I was wondering what your destination was. Was there some couchsurfing address? Or did you hitchhike back to the city later in the day?

    • @WhatashameMaryJane
      @WhatashameMaryJane  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After 9 hours of hitchhiking I couch surfed in a warmly welcoming house full of wonderful people 😊 You'll see some of them in my next video.

    Great video! I'm going to Iceland for my second trip and no car rental this time! Too much expensive! I think for women it's easier! But i watched on youtube a Japanese guy that traveled for 3 months in Iceland hitchhiking. So, we will make do.

    Could take a photo of a number plate and send to a friend if possible before getting into a car. I think the most dangerous part is getting into a car of an unskilled driver.

    So glad you had a nice time and a safe trip. As you know, in some places, hitch hiking is dangerous. Not sure I would do it in the USA ... you might be fine ... but it's a bit of a risk depending on where you are.

    • @WhatashameMaryJane
      @WhatashameMaryJane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would never do it in the United States. Too many mentally unwell people who are left with no support. I feel very unsafe in the US.

      @@WhatashameMaryJane I'm in sweden I think people are a little to reserved here but I bet you the further north they would pick you up more. I wonder if Iceland has similar mentality they're like hmm. She must be tourist or in need, since it's so rare to move around city to city. Iceland has been getting really popular though. Great video I'd love to vist beyond the airport sometime

    The side lane you were standing is sometimes called a "shoulder lane" or simply a "shoulder."
    It is also called a "break-down lane," because that is where you are supposed to put your car if it's having mechanical or electrical problems. 🙂
