That has got to be the easiest hunt any big cat has to undertake. Absolutely no effort in approaching the prey, no attempt to hide your presence and no defence whatsoever in making that kill

Because the magellics are basically defenceless against a puma on land. They can barely run and they can’t do anything to defend themselves other than maybe a slightly painful nip. So they just have to stand there completely helpless because the penguins know they can’t run and they can’t defend themselves. Then there’s going to be idiots calling the penguins “dumb” because of that
You know the Pumas always appreciate the time of the year that it's an all-you-can-eat penguin buffet! Easiest hunts of their lives!
I never knew that pumas overlapped ranges with penguins. Ig I learned something new today.
Global warming, wildlife areas getting cut, overhunting of animals by humans. Yup
Me too! Never seen a white/silver puma before!
Me three! Even in my mid 60s, I can still learn. 👍
Same
Guess what else you're learning today??? Go ahead, guess, robot (AI)??? That cmw is a pimp! Congratulations, you've learned 2 new things today!!!
Didn't understood why the penguin stayed there while the puma slowly came for him, then i remembered that a penguin can't run, nor fly, and can barely walk 😂
He tried to peck the puma and got boxed in the face for it just before getting bitten on the neck and killed.
there was another one right next to it tryin to peck the cat, maybe to help or just defending itself
Nesting maybe?
Yep the penguins are literally completely defenceless on land
Makes me realize how defenseless penguins are
If they lived in the North Pole the Polar Bears would have a field day
They have wings and can't even fly, nature just decided they would be the hot dogs of the animal world
I guess it raises the question how did you ever think they had a defence and if so what was that defence - in the nicest most none snarky just having a laugh kinda way
@@kavalogue lol well, I'm sure they're really good swimmers which would help them evade predators. But on land, wow. And against Pumas, no chance.
Guess redundancy is these penguins' defense. There are only limited number of pumas and after all of them full, the penguins are safe.
The "Little Penguins" of Australia had a similar problem but with foxes, almost wiping them out completely 🦊 but then a unique protection system was invented - they now have guard dogs that keep them, safe 🐧 🦮 and we got to follow the story with our camera 🥰
This is not a similar situation at all. Foxes are an invasive species in Australia because they were introduced by English colonists to facilitate their tradition of foxhunting. Since they’re an invasive species, their predation on the little penguins was not sustainable and was harming the ecosystem. Pumas, on the other hand, are native to this region, so pumas hunting penguins is not unsustainable or damaging to the ecosystem- in fact, it’s perfectly healthy, because native predators are necessary to keep prey species’ populations in check. This is not a “problem”, and protecting penguins from their natural predators would gravely harm the ecosystem in the long run- just look at how Yellowstone National Park fell apart after the wolves were eradicated. Just because it makes you sad to see cute penguins being killed doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
@@katherineeeeeeekillerwhalestill a similar situation. Different circumstances, but similar situation.
The difference is massive. A puma will kill and eat 1 penguin. A fox will kill 100 and only eat 1 also
This must be puma heaven. Infinite food that can’t run and can’t fight back!
Food glitch 😂
good times lead to weak pumas
😆 🤣 😂 😹
@@barsnack7999 I live there (or should I say here?) in fact, the pumas in that area are petite (AFAIK), but a few kilometers away live the largest pumas in the world, so you have a point.
@@barsnack7999 two more things, a few kilometers to the north and to the south you will find the same big cats from inland. The other thing is that the penguins stay there from September to April.
Crazy how that cats coat is exactly the color of that sand

Natural camouflage.
It’s not….only looks grayish as a result of the lowlight filming lighting….they are brown just like those in other habitats

1:01 the penguins who stood in front and alarmed the others was the first sacrificed. Respect to his/her courage.
Yeah. There was a time when leaders had to go to war too and don't just sit in their offices.
Watch Gohan, Watch . Honor his sacrifice
Nah, just dumb. Darwinism.
"Respect to his/her courage."
They are birds. They don't have any such thing as "courage". Rather, you are seeing an inability to think
@@alexanderSydneyOz Of course different animals have different characters and different courage. They have no reflexion and more instinct control like human beeings the rest is very similar.
That’s a like a microwave meal for the puma. Easy to set it warm on the table
That's surprising. 2 animals i would never have expected to share territory.
This encounter is in Patagonia. The Southern tip of Argentina that is close to the South Pole. They are not that far apart.

My money is on the Steelers.

Puma vs penguin
It seems so unfair
Nature Does what
It does
we do same. Kill fish, duck chicken goat lamb cow... it is nature....survive on others. We are more cruel becaus we kill more than we need to save for future. Animals dont.
@@ajitchaudhuri131No, we're not the same, we don't tear them apart while they're still alive
When the easy penguins are all gone the pumas will have a problem killing harder to catch prey , as they've been conditioned . Then THEY will be the ones dying off.
We should provide the penguins with military assistance to make it a fair fight.
The widespread diet of the Puma is very interesting. Anything from squirrels, to deer, to sloths, to penguins.
Pumas won't eat any plants. Chickens and humans eat a greater variety.
@@markbrophy5454They're partial to catnip plants.
They do prefer medium-sized and larger prey.
@@markbrophy5454of course they won't eat plants, they're carnivores. And the OP wasn't comparing nor saying pumas have a more varied diet than humans.
I love when pumas set aside their territorial behavior to hunt. It shows their cooperation, their resolve, and also their desperation when it comes to securing a meal. Something absolutely solitary learning to hunt and coexist with others. But I've yet to see an occasion where this temporary truce backfires. Its remarkable, and I wonder. How do they figure this out? Cats are intelligent, so maybe food is the only thing on the mind. They know that if they tolerate eachother, almost all of them will get a meal and leave unscathed.
Maybe you have yet to see this truce backfire for lack of video footage that shows this. It’s possible
@@mrniceguy3006 Exactly.
sheer necessity. Same with my cat and my roommate's cats. His cats are older, more settled in their ways. My cat is much younger, energetic, and playful. The older cats tolerate him, because they have to.
I've seen the same kind of "truce" with polar bears.
So majestic
Doesn't even have to run to catch the penguins just strolls up to like he's going on a Sunday walk..Lols
I had no clue mountain lions lived anywhere near penguins
It's indeed ruthless and callous.
Que suspense!! Não sabia que o puma tinha gosto ...por pinguins!? Soaram os trompetes!! Os pinguins a correr atrapalhados na noite está digno de um filme de terror entre espécies!!
Nature is crazy.
Nature is cruel...
The Puma shouted to the Penguin, - Drop the beak ! 55 times before using lethal force.
That’s is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen.
I love Pumas great hunter❤
Beautiful video ❤❤
neither callous or cruel. just EVOLUTION. plenty of penguins left.
Right point (evolution), but I see it as a big anomaly here, in the sense, how could penguins and pumas have evolved in the same territory like prey and hunter, a puma certainly didn't evolve to hunt helpless and slow prey like penguins , and likewise penguins didn't evolve to escape skilled predators like pumas (there's a lot here I can't explain) logically if this had been produced by evolution, penguins should have been extinct in that place...(I don't understand how no one has asked this question in the comments)
I can only assume that the great disadvantage of penguins today has been caused by global warming (this makes them defenseless without slipping on the snow, and at the same time, most likely is the reason that encouraged the puma to expand its hunting territory until it collides with penguins) I find no other logic because of this...(if not this hypothesis formulated by me)
That's a no brainer for a big kitty. Swat and eat. No sweat ever broken.
Southern Chile, in South America is the only place on Earth these two animals can find each other.
We the few, who sacrificed for so many.🤗
Patagonia, Patagonia, every puma's trying to get me! Just say you never met me! I'm running underground with the moles, digging holes.

The range of mountain lions is amazing. From northern Alaska to Patagonia. Incredible.
This encounter between penguins and pumas is in Patagonia.
It's interesting that they don't even need stealth to catch them.
Poor guys, they already have enough to deal with in the water
It's ok because it doesn't threaten penguin to extinction they have a very huge population
That one penguin popped his head up then darted back under n said “NNNAAA” 😆
"Polished off" is hilarious
That literal means these cats have a sense of time and they need to gather more for the future. Mind boggling.
The way nature keeps everything in balance. Just imagine if there are no predator around
Lol that puma was on easy mode 😅
It was not even the hunting! Just casually walking into the shop to pick up some penguin 😅

How the penguins mate there and how the chicks survived in that hell. This is hell for penguins
Feel sad for the helpless harmless Penguins.
Yes but the puna needs to eat or starve to death
@@Haryad-11 well the cougar killed more than he could eat as you can see in minute 2:11
@@mrpeddlethesealion that’s just instinctual. When a predator is killing it can’t stop until it’s killed almost everything in the vicinity. Since penguins are slow af on land and couldn’t get away fast enough when the puma started killing, the puma just killed over and over and over again until it had killed all the penguins in the immediate area. I’ve seen it with foxes too. Once they get into a hen house they kill all the hens because the hens have nowhere to run to and the foxes instincts to tell it to kill everything it can get it’s jaws around
It's like that one penguin sacrificed itself for the others.
Really brings home how terrifying it must be to be a wild animal
I've got PTSD after watching this.
The fact that this is an apparently age-long phenomenon shows that the penguins and the pumas have a balance between them. The pumas come every year during penguin nesting season, because there is such an abundance of such easy prey, but the penguins have a breeding cycle that means they can take the losses and still thrive, on a population basis. It’s unfortunate for the individuals that get eaten, but the colony overall has the situation in hand (or should that be “in flipper”?).
Never imagined Penguins are prey for big cats.
Cats on the shore, seals out at sea......
He came, he saw, he conquered 😂
That has to be the easiest meal ever.
Puma's favourite advert:

In this instance it's like the pumas are on are level an would easily clear out the penguin population over time
Penguin buffet. Puma must be in heaven
Those penguins that escaped to water where the Killer Whale was waiting.

The pumas must survive

It doesn't seem ruthless or callous, it seems more like a hungry cat...

First 5 seconds looks like a Thundercat video. 😂
The cats wait until midnight to attack. Element of surprise. Birds wouldn’t have their defences up.
They don’t even have their defences up during the day, as far as I can tell they can’t do much of anything in ways of getting away.
