Apart from the Neve, and Mics, and the space, I love the fact they have a real room reverb/echo chamber, and a real EMT 140 plate reverb, and real spring (guess could be a Grampian 636 or similar?). That Fazioli piano is very nice too. I think they had one back when I was in music conservatory, saw a great contemporary music recital on it once, and it sounded so good that it made a deep impression on me of what a great piano sound could be. In a way that I never quite felt about the Steinways - great as they are. Like your choice of guitar amps too, I've gone for a similar selection but much more limited. Would love an Orange Rockerverb and Hi-Watt Custom.
I’d love to have my album mixed an mastered on this original equipment one day soon. This is the type of equipment that last many lifetimes. Awesome compound here!
I used to work on an 8068 at a studio in San Francisco. Tracking on an 8068 is almost too easy. i’m not sure what Dan Alexander did with that console but wherever it is, somebody is very happy working on it today.
You worked in such a cool era and place in the history of music recording. Dan Alexander is the pedigree to prove that. I'd love to hear where you in the Bay Area and what you worked on. If you have a TH-cam channel please create a video. Thank you.
@@holdenrains my life changed forever when at the age of 19 I stepped foot in a nondescript looking building at 245 Hyde Street in San Francisco. At that time the building was occupied by Wally Heiders Studios. That building holds a very special place in my heart; as it does for many people who passed through there over the years. I met Dan Alexander in 1980 when he took over the building and made it Hyde Street Studios. thanks to Dan I got to work on the amazing Trident B-Range console used by the Rolling Stones at. I think it was Olympic studios in London but I could be wrong about that that was 40 years ago. That console gave drum tracks a 3-D quality that I have never been able to replicate on any other desk. Amazing! I tracked a jazz album in studio C on an iconic Helios console that Dan picked up in England somewhere. Not the wraparound one. This one was gray well I think 32 channels. It was a famous board, but I don’t remember who had tracked on it in England. I think there are photographs of both consoles on Dan Alexander’s website. I know I have seen them there before. Thank you for your inquiry.
Love the studio and gear presented here... but it needs a paint of colour :) I'd be locked into playing Fado facing that colour scheme. LOL. The guys must have an incredible maintainance engineer! I'm out in the Azores and the humidity is an electronics killer - I presume similar in Porto with its big waves and moist sea air? Lovely to see that big desk and all the old school analog gear. Much appreciation.
We went for a neutral color scheme, it helps when you spend 14 hours a day in a room :) The weather in Porto is not a bad for electronics as in the Azores but old gear always needs maintenance!
Nice studio, thank you for the video. Atmos 6:50: "you can actualy hear it on regular headphones". Well... No. Sorry. Maybe in some year but not now. For your info, I'm testing mixing in atmos since 18 months with an atmos compatible DAW with the rendering tools. And this doesn't render very well for its binaural part... Either with the Dolby renderer or the Apple renderer. Nothing behind or above my head.
@@Gang-25j OK, I get the point, I need a crappy pair of headphones, my experiences were with a classic pair of DT770 and 7506...With them nothing "behind" or "above" without a visual refrence point. 🙂
@@holdenrains Ok, I'll wait for headphone with a "specific dsp" for 50%, at least, of the finals listeners. But now I'm embarassed, I don't know if I need crappy headphones as suggested by @ridinglow6732 or supa dupa DSP to test the magic of Atmos with a pair of headphones. Life is tough. I think I'll wait. 😁
This is the peak of a studio complex - everything is top notch quality - and the atmosphere feel like craftmanship. Wow. what a combination.

OMG! It's just amazing!
I want to, really want to hear my music through a Neve 8068 console before i leave this realm. Gorgeous studio!
I love you Guys This is the nicest I ever seen ❤Even the people around...Excellent...
