Nah they are actually better , liberty is wonderful at being a 70,s and 80,s drummer , it was time for Billy to freshen up and modernise the band his latest band has dynamics with liberty it was just hit hard bash crash all the way through
@@grumpy-g5syour comment makes no sense. Burgi plays the songs exactly the same with just as much power as Lib, but his groove is lacking. #bringbackLib
@@grumpy-g5sbilly didnt upgrade his band, he ruthlessly fired them , he didnt even tell liberty he was fired , after liberty asked the millionaire for an advance because he was getting married, billy just stopped calling him, its in the movie hired gun, billys old guitar player killed himself he was so distraught.
Sorry don't agree. Liberty was great but i disagree that Billy's shows have suffered because liberty is no longer there . People just don't like change
I saw the Lords Of 52nd Street last year and he blew me away. So much energy and his drums filled the entire hall. After the show he came out, signed autographs and took pics with the huge line of people waiting in the lobby. For free. Rare to see that these days. Just an amazing drummer and person.
Billy Joel had the same drummer during the albums of : Turnstiles, The Stranger, 52nd Street and Glass houses. And Liberty Devitto was it. He was the creator of many iconic drum parts on those albums.. He was part of the engine behind Billy's success. He should be more well known than he is.
Just SPECTACULAR to see this! When I first saw Billy Joel live I did not know Liberty wasn’t in the band anymore… one of the biggest musical disappointments of my life
Without Liberty, they became just a bunch of guys playing together with no chemistry. With Liberty, you had a rock and roll band…a gang of brothers….guys who had chemistry together. Look up Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Chemistry. Legacy. They even have Clarence Clemons’ son playing with them….because Bruce knows how important a band is, and how important original members are to the show, to the music. I’ll take a rock and roll band every day of the week.
The core DNA to so many of Joel's biggest hits. Just so sad there was a falling out, Joel's live shows really suffered without Liberty

Lib is very good to his fans. 🎸🥁🇮🇹
73 years old and still smacking the crap out of them drums and cymbals!😎
True , and he is a very nice guy 🥁🇮🇹
Great drummer, I just discovered Billy Joel's music and diving into the catalog. So good!
You’re going to love it !!
They were for me the greatest band since The Beatles. I view them as Americas Beatles !! Enjoy
You are awesome Liberty
I've never heard another drummer convey energy and emotion like Liberty does. What an amazing talent!

Dude he drummed up until river of dreams pretty much
2:36
This quickly became my favorite song after seeing it live, based mainly on the way Liberty attacked the drum kit
What a legend Mr DeVitto is 🥁🔥🥁🥁🥁🔥🥁🥁🥁🔥🥁🥁🥁🔥🥁🥁🥁
And Liberty is such a great person to boot !! 🇮🇹🥁❤️
This is the way it's supposed to be played. Haven't heard it sound right since Liberty & Billy parted ways. Not just this song either.
He played that song like a angry old man. Well done Liberty.
Genius! ❤
What a gift you have sir
Thanks , Liberty !

Same thing happened to me in 06 . I was so disappointed not to see Lib on the drums at that concert.
I felt the same way when I saw Collective Soul in 2002 and Ross wasn't there. Total disappointment.
Oooh I wonder why he chose the Концерт version. This is my favorite version.
The guy is playing to a track! 1:04 while hes playing on the hi hat you hear the roll on snare drum? freaking guy was playing to his own track!
Liberty rocks.
No Click.

Love liberty, but this snare is shite sounding imo.

Billy Joel band SUCKS without Liberty.
Lib is one of the best there is !! 🥁🇮🇹❤️
Kinda sad. Get a new band Lib. Live in the present.
This is drum clinic, not a concert. It’s very common for famous drummers to demonstrate their parts to songs from their career during clinics.
