My Grand Daddy had 4 or 5 Tandem K Model IH Dumps back in the 50's... A whole Fleet of them daggone Trucks... They made him Money when there wasn't any to be made... Then in about 1960 or 1961 he started buying Mack Tractors and Fruehauf Trailers to Haul Steel and Freight... The first Mack was a Brand Spankin' New B-61... It was Red with the Chrome Shell on The Nose... He had that, 3 or 4 H Models, An F Model that was Brand New, a little old E Model Gas Job, and a few others... The last Truck he bought was a Brand New R-686 Mack with a Maxidyne Engine and a Duplex... It was a Tandem Tractor but the Rear Axle was a Dummy Axle that you could lift up when ya didn't need it... All those trucks were sold at Auction a while after The Teamsters Struck in the 1980's.... I wish I still had one of his Trucks... He kept them in Immaculate, Parade Like Condition....

That transmission IS a power divider. The name stuck when the inter axle differential came along on the flow through forward axles. Inter axle differentials are not power dividers in the traditional sense.

It looks like it has been rebuilt by the paint on the frame and it's been sitting outside and the cab is faded

I have that same truck and same drive train. Mine is a 1948 KB8-F. But at least 3' shorter. But I have the flat stubby grill which i like 100 times better than that big long nose'd beak of a grill. The power divider with the dual driveshafts is fully under my cab.

Hi were is this Truck? I knew of a fellow in 1949 he owned 2 new kb 8 tandems. They were ramp trucks 4 hauling dozers. In 49 he went off road loaded and was killed avoiding collision with a school bus. Id like to buy a kb8 tandem if there is one known

I'm pretty sure thats an early 40s maybe a 45 KF-8. The front grill design let's you know it's a K series and not a KB.

Internationals were K models from 1941 to 1946 and KB models from 1947 to 1949, easiest way to tell is grill had SS bars from 47 to 49..

@@jackandsusangerstner1369 thanks for the info Jack!! I will squirrel the info away, the KBR8 that I had I was told was a 48 & it did have stainless grill bars, If I remember correctly it had a 362? Red diamond gas engine, vacuum brakes, I was told the vacuum brakes had something to do with the "R" designation....Be Safe & God Bless!!!
