Thank you so much for sharing. This was truly incredible! For the first 19 years of my life I heard Simon and Garfunkel through my dad's car speakers and through his voice. He passed away when I was 19, but nothing brings him back to me quicker, than the beauty of that music. I heard the hum or sound of this music from the time I was a baby, through being a young toddler and through my crazy ass teenage years where I was just trying to learn the ways of the world. I am now 38. I feel old, and think I should have things better figured out, but when I realize I don't, and when I feel I or wish I had my dad now; I turn on 'his' music. This is one of those songs where you hear the difference between "covered it" and "lived it". These people are "covering it". And it's musically beautiful, but it doesn't have the same "oomph". Draiman has "lived it", he performs the song with his very existence. He's adding musical qualities to avoid just screaming the whole thing at the top of his lungs. It's hard to match that.
@@mathewsearle4795 Simon and Garfunkel are mentioned in the description. I’m not sure what issues would arise but as long as they’re mentioned that takes care of most issues.
Disturbed did completely rebrand the song, but NEVER claimed otherwise. The problem is, S&G made the song so upbeat and took away from the impact of the song. Disturbed stripped it completely down and essentially published it raw. You can HEAR his lips smack in it, the saliva in his mouth, showing the lack of autotune. That rawness is so much more memorable. Its just Like "I will Always Love you" was not originally a Houston song. Valerie was also not originally Whinehouse. The artists who covered wound up making the songs more noteworthy. Thus their version is more recognized.
Holy heck. i am at a loss for words. The orignal did have some seriousness. Disturbed's version had me in tears. As well as this. There is a certain power in the voices you both have that just makes it become more serious and seriously sends out a LOUD message. Holy heck again

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams, I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light, I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
Then the sign said, "The words on the prophets are written on the subway walls
In tenement halls"
And whispered in the sound of silence

Holy powerhouse voices. That was epic!
I feel like the Disturbed cover is so underrated
This is one of those songs where you hear the difference between "covered it" and "lived it". These people are "covering it". And it's musically beautiful, but it doesn't have the same "oomph".
Draiman has "lived it", he performs the song with his very existence. He's adding musical qualities to avoid just screaming the whole thing at the top of his lungs. It's hard to match that.
This is by far the best Sound of Silence on the internet.
This disturbed song is a cover and now you're covering a cover lol
i think they are covering the style they did it in lol
@@TheFish580 personally i like the disturbed song better the the original Simon & Garfunkel one.
@@kylemcfred4506 that is a fact and I'm starting to like this one even more lol
Disturbed took the song to a whole other level.
@@Aashishkebab agreed
She really has a unique, unmistakable and beautiful voice. ❤
"people talking without speaking. people hearing without listening...." = politics in the 2000s
Sad but true ^^
They were right about Y2K. It was the beginning of the end of the world we knew.
Politics in 2020 more like...
= like people for the last few decades
Twitter, really
Wow, stunning performance by all three. Thank you.
444 Dislikes? That's 444 people that don't know what music is.
poor guys, they must be deaf, hahaha
Must've been blinded by the neon lights :(
Wow, wow, wow. The best cover ever. Violet at its best!!!
Anthony with the Sound of Silence in the style of Josh Groban
Just.. No..
@@arronjames1338 lol you just watched it
Disturbed, a footnote in musical history, doesn't get any credit for this song, which was written and performed by Simon and Garfunkel in 1964.
But it did not sound this good. And I was around back then
Nowadays Ai makes music, lets be real this sounds awesome❤ lets be real music was something else back in the days... thanks to dad Who died in 94❤
They credit Disturbed because they used Disturbed's arrangement.
@@MaliceInCandylandexactly. They’re aware it was originally a Simon & Garfunkel song.
Just wow! This needs to be No1 across the globe
It bugs me how many people think Disturbed wrote this song.
This. I was like, hang on, Disturbed didn't write the original. Possible copyright issue having not given credits to original song writers?
Well they're doing a cover of the disturbed version so I feel like it was appropriate to credit them
@@mathewsearle4795 Simon and Garfunkel are mentioned in the description. I’m not sure what issues would arise but as long as they’re mentioned that takes care of most issues.
You mean it disturbs you? (Sorry) 😂🤦♂️
The Disturbed version was already a cover. Why don’t you give credit to the original instead?
Unfortunately that was the first thing I thought of when this came up in my feed.
Um they DID! it’s in the description! 🤣
@@PrestigeLiquidsWW they did it’s in the description lol 🤣
Because this cover is based on Disturbed’s version, which is quite different from the original.
I usually get goosebumps and a shiver down my back when listening to certain harmonies.... the ones at the end of this gave me shivers like I have only ever had when listening to Chris Cornell and Myles Kennedy's harmonies. So there's that
Hi Violet! WOW!! THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG !! All three of you do a SUPURB job!!! I recently found you on Dan Vasc's video and I loved LOVED it! So I started to listen to many of your other videos, and you got another subscribed fan here!! Fantastic!
