    Spyderco Paramilitary 2 CPM-CRUWEAR Brown Canvas Micarta:
    This stunning expression of the iconic Para Military 2 pairs a CPM-CruWear blade with classic brown canvas Micarta handle scales. Its full-flat-ground PlainEdge blade capitalizes on CruWear’s hard-earned reputation for taking and holding a superior edge while remaining tough and resilient. The precision-machined scales are supported by full skeletonized stainless steel liners that also form the backbone of the knife’s patented Compression Lock mechanism. They reveal the Micarta’s handsome layered construction and provide a platform for a four-position pocket clip and lined lanyard hole that supports all possible carry positions and preferences.

    As a collector of over a hundred Spydercos this is a holy grail PM2…. I’m almost 85 and have a lot of experience as collector and knife maker…believe what I’m saying,,,this is one of the best PM2’s….only the maxamet beats it performance wise….get it…you’ll thank me way after they pit me in the clay.:)

      @wattsmichaele ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re very kind. Good job young man. Keep up the good work on your videos. I’ve watched quite a few and they are very good. By the way , the magic eraser tip and dishwater cleaning tip did not work well on my micarta scales. Maybe I can dye them ? What do you think? I’m sick to my stomach over staining them but I wanted to oil the blade and pivot. Big mistake and I was very careful. I guess they have a sort of patina now but it’s like having white shoes and getting them muddy or something. You can’t really get them back to original condition if you know what I mean. But I promise the blade sharpness and centering is perfect and it drops shut so easy. I have a nice little scar on my ancient finger to prove it. :)
      I highly recommend this PM2. I think the larger compression lock tab makes it easier, especially for older or physically challenged people like me to use.
      And the factory edge is better than knives I’ve had professionally sharpened. It’s very impressive. I think it’s an overlooked Spyderco PM2.
      Anyway, thanks for your communication. Please excuse my low tech skills. I’m trying to keep up with you youngsters. It’s a great time to be alive.

    • @knifevideochannel4657

      Spydercos factory edge routinely shaves hair when I check them out of the box! Try using alcohol pads (first aid kit) to clean the Micarta scales, Should remove grit/dirt and evaporate! Thanks for positive comments and for watching sir

  • @lindboknifeandtool
    @lindboknifeandtool 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This model is extremely exciting to me for many reasons but the main two are that I can easily make scales (no nesting to mill out) so no mill required. The other reason is that it’s a regular production so I can regrind, beat it up, and buy another easily. I hope they do the para 3 as well. I think their tooling was possibly tearing out the nesting in some areas so they didn’t want to mess with the extra cost and time. Stuff like this, and the k390 run makes Spyderco objectively the best knife nerd company. If they do a military run I’ll be happy as a clam. I DMed them regarding the military and they cited supply chain issues as to why they’re out of stock often. I assume the thicker stock also contributes.

    • @knifevideochannel4657
      @knifevideochannel4657  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spyderco listens to their customer base, Offering the exotic steels/materials on their Flagstaff models! I agree with you on the Golden company being among the best in the industry.
      I'd love to this configuration (satin and DLC)of the PM2, Para 3, And Military! I'm hoping a Micarta TiCN Cruwear (M4 or Magnacut too) Gayle Bradley folder in the future also. Thanks for watching

    I remember the first Spyderco I got about 8 years ago, the paramilitary with the digital G10 and I didn't like it. But also when I first got back into knife collecting I was recovering from Strokes. Now that I understand the geometry and how important that is, Spyderco are really amazing in that aspect. You get a lot of knife for the money, they are not overpriced like Benchmade sometimes are, anyway I'm glad there are a lot of different knives and a lot of knife companies to make everybody happy!

    I only JUST understood what they meant by the “not full liner”, for a long time I thought they didn’t hollow out the liners. Yeah I think that all makes sense now, normal spyderco para 2 will leave only about 2 mm -3mm thick of material around the scales which is ok for g10 and probably isn’t great for micata... thanks for showing .

    • @knifevideochannel4657
      @knifevideochannel4657  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming Spyderco figured out that mass production of nested (internally milled) Micarta scales wouldn't be stable enough over time. To modify the liners and compression lock just for this release, Shows Spydercos commitment to the customer base. I'm curious if a Para 3 is in the works too! Thanks for watching

    Oh I need a HRC test done on a few of these... If they are 62-63hrc I'll buy two as soon as they are in stock. I love cruwear but not if it's soft... Cruwear does not do well at 59-60... I heard some people complaining about spyderco cruwear being ideal a while back and getting softer as we go on. I don't know if it's true or not I have a couple cruwear spydies and all feel good but these are older units... Not the newer units I've been hearing are soft.

      @knifevideochannel4657  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming they'll end up around the 62ish range, Hopefully!! I don't understand why Spyderco would tweak the HRC to a lower number in the high 50s or low 60s. I have a few Bark River fixed blades that are 59ish, Which works for toughness in that platform. Thanks for watching

    I can't say I'm a fan of the full liners and more open handle spine. I reckon spyderco is trying to stiffen up the handle to compensate for the lower modulus scales. But now the knives won't accept aftermarket scales.

    Another TH-cam reviewer pointed out how the left side scale flexes due to no liner at the liner lock tab, it is very thin and the scales over all are too thin making the knife feel weak in design. Spyderco just needed to make both sides of the grips thicker and rounded off at the edges with the liners and it would be a better knife. And I just ordered one of these now I am thinking of sending it back. And all this hurrah and waiting for this knife by so many when it is showing up to be a good idea but with flaws with the thin micarta scales . That is what is good about knife reviews wait and see what others say before you jump in and buy a knife you may regret.

    • @knifevideochannel4657
      @knifevideochannel4657  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason I started my channel in 2019 (besides having time from medical issues) was watching worthless TH-cam reviews that were 10-20 minutes long! They would make countless assumptions about product they didn't even use yet, Like saying the original Bugout scales wouldn't be "strong" enough, Because of flex.
      I show the knife up close, Availability, And price letting people make up their own minds. If something wrong is up close and apparent, I state but try not to come out and say "bad design" point blank. Give the new Spyderco Micarta Cruwear a chance without repeating flexing the cutout area when not in use. From what I can tell so far, There's no issue and the scales will be fine over time.
      Worst case if you don't like it, The knife is worth purchase price on secondary market. What do you have to lose? Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy your new Spyderco.

    • @knifevideochannel4657
      @knifevideochannel4657  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no "ones better" for the 2 choices you mentioned! S45VN is an incredible steel that's highly stainless with good overall edge retention. The Cruwear is a tool steel that will patina/rust if not taken care of. It's tougher steel, But that shouldn't matter in a platform as small as PM2. As far as the G10 or Micarta scales, Can't go wrong with both. As the guys over at Spyderco Forums say "But both"! Thanks for watching

    Cru-Wear is a stainless? I thought it chromium content was around 7.25%. How is that stainless? Anyways, this looks like a great knife. I'm quite a fan of Cru-Wear and am glad this is becoming a mainstay steel for the PM2. I'm glad mine has DLC and I hope that becomes an option in the future. Thanks for the vid!

    Are the grips as blocky as the G10 model or is it more rounder off.

    • @knifevideochannel4657
      @knifevideochannel4657  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Still blocky (overall wider then standard) but maybe a tad bit more rounding at edge of scales! I usually use light sandpaper (on my user PM2s)to slightly "soften" the edge transition on the scales, This Micarta seems similar. Thanks for watching

      I still use EDCI Solutions ony tool steel blades. I'm also on the west coast (dry/low humidity) and haven't seen any real corrosion/rust problems except 52100 ,K390 , And Maxamet. Food safe mineral oil works too.
      I use Liberty Oil for the pivot, Bit KPL, Nano oil, And others work just as well. Good luck and enjoy that beautiful PM2

      This Micarta scales Cruwear blade Paramilitary 2, Is a direct result of the demand of the(Zwear and Cruwear) Micarta Shaman Sprints!
      Because of the huge demand and low overall production (1200 for Cruwear and 2400 ZWEAR)of the Shaman drops, Sal Glasser and Spyderco decided to make this PM2 a production version. A Military and Para 3 are rumored to follow this in the catalog. I'm assuming that this Micarta Paramilitary 2 will be similar to the Maxamet in overall availability!

    Spyderco did things right? What? You get ripped off by getting cheaper manufacturing for a higher price. The micarta is so poor in quality and finish. Look at the Spyderco Spyopera. THAT‘S how it is done!!! Can‘t believe you are so euphoric about this crappy scale quality and cutting corners in production. Lionsteel in Italy can do it with the Spyopera. Golden can‘t? Great example of „made in USA“ ☹️
