Corey Ward from The Voice was in my church youth group as a praise band guy, and though he’s the legitimately nicest guy you could ever imagine meeting, this was 100% his crew’s vibe growing up.
Have you heard of the Passion Movement? Its a college age kid worship thing. I worked a "conference" they had at a 14,000 seat arena that was packed for three 12 hour long days. Every hour or so, between sermons and the ultra brain-washy multimedia stuff, the band would play this song for like 10+ minutes while everyone sang along crying. Every couple minutes the band would get kinda quiet, and a preacher would start asking them to send money for "reasons" and the cash app, and apple pay links would start scrolling across the enormous displays. Theyd tell them how important it was for thier work, and how rhe sacrifice they make would help so much, and then the band would start back into an emptional chorus, "...whoa oh oh oh etc..." It was exquisitely designed propaganda and so so so creepy. They were however completely inclusive, with young people of every walk of life imaginable, the more money coming in the merrier i suppose.
