I definitely prefer the JPOG hunting system, often carnivores being able to kill herbivores every time doesn't work, like real animals, carnivores often won't be able to catch prey, they often fail and have to try again. I also liked how if they failed a charge they'd be tired and breath, basically hunting was exciting, it was a 40 percent chance that the carnivore would be able to kill it and it was really exciting. So it would feel sad when they leave defeated. In JWE they are always going to take out a hadrosaur, always, It isn't exciting because you know what's going to happen, I think they need to change the hunting system, similar to JPOG
And to mention a lone velociraptor single handedly take down a fuckin parasaurolophus like it was nothing. Unrealistic as fuck. How does a small carnivore take down a large herbivore that can easily crush it to death
I am so salty that triceratops went from a beautiful five star attraction in jpog to one of the lowest tier dinosaurs that you practically get right away in jwe, also one of these days someone's going to need to give good ol' trikey a proper bellow, in jwe she just sounds old and tired.
SuperRegic I know! Triceratops is my favorite dinosaur, but in JWE it’s a complete wimp. I modified it rarely has any chance at winning a single fight. I’ve only had one case of a Trike winning a fair fight in my entire history of playing the game. This animal took on Tyrannosaurus for goodness sakes!
@@thexplodenator3007 They must of patched it because my escaped Spinosaurus tried to eat my Trike & he wasnt gonna take his crap & rammed him to death.
Fact: A twister occurs usually only once and the only time it’s scripted is in early game of any play through to get players used to setbacks and they will eventually know how to properly deal with them as they approach. This is done by declaring emergency and building visitor shelters.
Twisters are RNG there will be time just like you said, there will be time it won't triggered till 4 or 3.5 stars. Sometime it wouldn't even a thing till you reach the goal of 5 stars.
I love how the Jurassic Park franchise has exposed me to dinosaurs that I’ve never even heard of and gain an appreciation for them. That even happened with me and JPOG. Even JWE is now doing that.
I know you said these analysis videos aren't going to be very often on your part, but I'm already looking forward to the next one. This is EXACTLY my taste in game analysis, one where your passion is clearly seen and you make me care about a game I never heard about simply because YOU care so damn much.
sjdsjhsd yeah. I think it's like the Parasaurolophus replacing Charonosaurus in the game. It's meant to be Sinosaurus, which was at first thought to be a Dilo instead of a close relative.
One thing I loved about JPOG was letting herbavores wander among guests. Some guests loved it and some ran in terror so while it wasn't something the game told you to do, it was still very doable.
Probably one of my favorite Jurassic World Evolution/ Operation Genesis, I really do hope they add moding because I’ve seen some AMAZING fan made models for the game.
Chances are no because Universal was interfering with the development of JWE, and they said no to mods cause they were afraid of people modding in copyrighted material, leaving them liable
1) 8:10 This limitation is on purpose, for replayability. 2) 11:30 I thought only console version had that resolution for guests .... 3) 12:45 "Lack" of bathrooms is the result of you having too many pathways next to eachother, thus the AI doesnt recognize that as a path towards the same direction. So you have guests spending time in your park not going from A to B, but around the same place - if that makes any sense. 4) 24:55 Regarding dinosaurs, you forgot to add that having dinosaurs from same time period in same enclosures affect Dino Nerd's score. Same goes for having real trees and not having feeders. Everything else you said on Operation Genesis is spot-on. I used to play that game a lot. nostalgia 😊
10:26 Cheat for money? Lmaoo The Limitations was there because the game was on PS2 and Xbox unfortunately. I had this game on Xbox and it played really well I thought. In fact, the sensitivity was never an issue. I think JPOG was a console game first, and a PC port after. I always felt JWE had such lifeless UI and aesthetics, it lacks heart JPOG had. The soundtrack was really nice in JPOG too
I'm surprised i was able to beat the amazing maze mission when i was like 12. It was still frustrating. You shoot the beacons and the carnivores first and then muster.
Ever since this video was posted frontier added: Return To Jurassic Park with all the JP trilogy skins(Well most) Raptot squad skin pack Dinosaur packs with 3 dinosaurs each DLCs with new campaigns, new missions, new characters and loads of new dinosaurs Terrain tools Singular trees, Redwoods and rocks More hybrids(From the Dr.Wu dlc) 6 new islands/building areas(Nublar 1993, Sorna 1993, Sanctuary, Nublar North, Tocano Research Facility, Muerta East) Challenge mode and sandbox on all islands Some dinosaurs have been given unique animations(Nasutoceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Ourannosaurus, Compsognathus, Homalocephalae, Herrerasaurus Etc.) New buildings(Greenhouse, Jurassic Park buildings, Aviary in both eras, off the grid buildings) Now Rangers and Acu can both tranquilise, Medicate and shoot flares Your jeeps can get destroyed by dinosaurs and you have to buy a new one And more
And oh, you think mountains are pointless? Let me stop you there Mountains can be used as permanent and indestructible fencing and they can look good when you shape it with flattened option
@@ElAndoro indeed. Kinda funny how he 100% accurately predicted the paid Velociraptor skins already :D But then there's also decent paid DLC, especially his stance on the Return to Jurassic Park DLC would interest me!
My understanding of jpog vs jwe, for someone who played a shit load of jpog back in the day and has never played jwe is: Jwe better graphics Jwe better looking dinos and more variety Jwe flying and water creatures? Jpog much more variety of park attractions and services Jpog more control over your park and more interactivity with guests and staff Is this right?
The only thing that I looked forward to in JWE when it was announced was the dinosaurs and dinosaur immersion, the managing gameplay is so fuckin secondary. But it turns out that the quality of dino-immersion in JWE is extremely disappointing to the level that JPOG has the upper hand indefinitely. No amount of DLCs, Skins or park decor can supplant something so fundamentally flawed with the dinosaur interactions, behaviors, hunting, fighting. As mentioned in this video review 1:31:42, the dinosaurs feel "a lack of behavior", "recycled animations that killed the illusion", "so many dinosaurs that don't do all that much". One prime example, you won't see anywhere in JWE that hunting behaviour is a 50/50 percent chance where carnivores can chase after prey that can outrun them, instead every prey item will stand absolutely still while the predator runs behind them and kill them, this is extremely unimmersive and gets repeated every single time and secondly JPOG dino-battles can sometimes result in the loser being able to flee and cower from the victor whereas in JWE it's always a death battle with recycled monotonous animations. There are ways which could supplement what these dinosaurs are capable of and provide challenges that revolves around actual dinosaur behaviors which could be picked up by the park management gameplay and frontier simply doesn't seem to be interested in that. There's so much that I've imagined for what my ideal Jurassic Park game would be, where the dinos would take things into their own hands fulfilling the famous quote from Ian Malcolm "Nature can't be contained, It breaks free, Life finds a Way", I wanted to see the full extend of what JP dinosaurs CAN DO which includes, socializing, herding, pack hunting, changing sex, reproducing, nesting, nurturing, ALL OF THE ABOVE! I don't know about you, but I'm a dinosaur fan first, so I have an over tendency to prioritize what I want to see from the dinosaurs and how they progress in game. JWE was more of Park management first, Dinosaurs second type of scenario, nothing truly substantial goes into the dinosaur development.
Man I may've fallen hard for the JWE hype train and bought 6 copies, digital deluxe for all 3 platforms, 1 disc copy for Xbox, and gifted 2 copies to my friends on steam, I would put ALL that money for backwards compatibility, not even a remaster, JPOG drawfs JWE that much. JPOG, guests are actually guests, and although the AI might lack, it's leaps and bounds better than the "guests" that JWE has that're damn near nothing more than static images unless a dinosaur eats them, hell not even a twister makes them to anything, they just walk through it like they're a herd of smug bastards, and the animations on them? JPOG: Guests are seen entering buildings with animation, seen ordering food or gifts from the toy shop or fleeing to the emergency shelters, JWE? Clipping through doors to enter buildings, clipping through each other, SOME NOT EVEN RESPONDING TO THE EMERGENCY SIRENS AS THE REST CLIP THROUGH EACH OTHER AND THE SHELTER DOOR. Absolutely awful, and cause of Universal's involvement, there's no mods because they're afraid of people modding in copyrighted material, ya know, take a page from bethesda then and only let approved mods in the game through an ingame mod menu? Worst part is Frontier is only adding new dinos and skins, even adding challenge mode as a way to add more skins through a progression lock than fixing any of the issues with guests, let alone security, NON LETHAL ONLY? Look, I'm fine with tranqs, but NEVER have it be your only option, if a dino is mauling fuckers to death, put them down, attacking a fence, use tranqs. I could go on and on, but im only 25 mins into this video and he might cover what I'm saying.
I just don't like some of the skins the dinosaurs have. That's one out of many dude. The dinosaurs are the main stars of the jwe and seeing some of the dull and boring colors and some not even adoring stripes and pebbles. Come on, how did they fuck that up. It's annoying as hell. I will not touch the game until this is fixed like I waited so long for this and that wait wasn't even worth it and they had so much time to work on this. I'm sorry it's staying on the damn self and im gonna let it dust until something happens
Agree on the "open all gates" being the only sabotage that matters. I learned a valuable lesson a couple days back when I had made my gates a little too convenient for my jeeps, making them also super convenient for a pair of heavily upgraded Ceratosaurs to roll right into an enclosure full of med/lg herbivores. They killed all 12 dinosaurs in the enclosure in the blink of an eye. They also seem to have added something so that dinos, especially carnos, actively make a break for any breach in a fence, regardless of whether they are agitated. I've only seen the "open all gates" situation once, but it was a helluva thing. I have to admit, though, it was very fun, and I was running a near 5-star park with about $250M in the bank at the time, so it didn't matter anyway. :) Great vid! I never did get to play Operation Genesis, but have really enjoyed Evolution so far (a week in).
Well I feel like I really have to thank you for the effort you invested in this video, it is the most complete comparison so far, you really went in to the smallest of details. Here is you like and I will also suscribe my man.
Its actually pretty cool how so many of the problems he lists here have been taken care of for JWE. Shows that the devs do listen to their fans somewhat. Id love it if he did a followup.
Very interesting video. You mention the Zoo Tycoon series so much that I would actually love to see you cover it. Hope you make another video like this sometime in the near future!
honestly JPOG is beyond a classic. I love it so much. It really was absolutely amazing to see the classic Jurassic look and make an amazing park. I really enjoyed all of it
Jpog is better for me. I love how it drops you on an island and you have the whole island to work with. in Jwe you get only this part of the island. it bothers me way too much. I just prefer the zoo tycoon style of Jpog. to the skylines feel of Jwe.
IMHO The Return to Jurassic Park DLC is much better than the main JW-era gameplay. The contract system is far better as doing one from a division doesn't damage your reputation on the others, the buildings are far better as they are more compact and doesn't eat up so much valuable space like the JW buildings (especially the bloody hotels), and personally I felt most of the original trilogy skins are far better than the standard JW era skins. My only complaints are that they should add viewing galleries to the JP era, and that for the JP campaign mode the dinosaur choices are ridiculously limited (acceptable for the likes of hybrids and dinosaurs that were discovered later, but ludicrous for others like Allosaurus and Diplodocus) and you can't tweak their sociality.
I always used to watch JPOG videos like crazy when I was younger and I remember hearing about JWE and thinking it will be the best thing ever. Now that I've played JWE I can tell you I preffer even just watching JPOG over playing JWE. Yeah, it's got way better graphics, but besides that, at least for me, it feels like almost a direct downgrade. To put it simply: JPOG felt like a dinosaur park tycoon game while JWE is a park tycoon game, that happens to feature some dinosaurs.
Just wanna say how good this content was, the hard work was appreciated and it kept me more than entertained on my commute, would love to see a simular comparison when JWE2 comes out.
know this is old but I want to comment that transport might be so low for you because its affected by how easily guests can reach areas rather then transport all together. for example, you have the whole system together but it doesn't matter because your guests have to walk on paths to get to the Brachiosaur paddock.
11 year old me was in awe in 2003 at this game and spent many days on it, in 2021 i see how little jurassic world evolution improved on something so simple
Still a great criticism today. However the updates to JWE have really shown Frontier's dedication to the fanbase and to matching JPOG. The new terrain customization, dino AI, and dinosaur roster really have improved the game exponentially. Aside from dryosaurus I think JWE now has every JPOG dinosaur in it. JPOG holds a place in my heart, but I think JWE has finally truly surpassed it overall for me.
Now with all the free updates up to Return to Jurassic Park DLC, JWE is a good game I think, but still JPOG is better with some details. JWE is still lacking in end gae because you can get everything in control so well that fences breaking etc are just annoyances at best. Also JPOG has much better dinosaur AI.
TL:DR. JPOG is best when you turn Jurassic Park" into Jurassic Petting Zoo"! In JPOG, if you want your rating to skyrocket to five stars quickly. Research the camera's asap, and than create a pen which resembles this "[ ]" or larger. Place all required items for "dino" health within the pen: feeder, pond, trees, etc. Run a guest path through the middle and place camera's along your guest paths {only a few are needed}. This will help them feel safe! Place also, herbivore avoidance beacons on the top and bottom, outside the pen where "dinos" might escape. Than have your herbivores roam free amongst the guest paths. Make sure to make this path essential to get anywhere else in the park. If you make this area big enough, you can even have the park entrance in there, so guests are greeted with herbivores as soon as they enter. You essentially turn it from a "Jurassic Park" to a "Jurassic Petting Zoo"! Also, don't attempt this with the carnivore's, especially the Raptors! All types of guest will respond to this positively! Even the "thrill-seekers". Guests have a fear rating which increases with proximity to ANY dino. Which is why the camera's are necessary. Herbivores will not attack guests, so turrets may not be required. The only downside to this is: dino deaths. Close proximity to dead dinos. The ultimate goal overall, to make JPOG the most fun. Is to build with as little fences as possible, between your guest and all dinos! Even carnivores!
Feontier updated the raptor behavior to reflect that. They will now ignore fighting Large carnivores or any Herbivore that fights back but will gladly eat small carnivores or Passive herbivores.
This is the fairest review to these two games I have seen so far. You could have put some more objective upsides in favour of JWE in it and a few more criticisms of JPOG. I thought you would give JWE a worse score just because of the amount of complaints before watching till the end. But other than that I am totally pleased. This is definetely quality content I want to see more of on youtube. Thank you for taking so much time for the review, it's a thing few people do these days. I personally think JWE is the better game objectively, like you said. I only ever used one mod for JPOG, it was great ansd sadly is no longer available, at least as far as I am aware. It was a JPOG canon skin mod that did remove the limitations and short live spans. But the Jurassic World mod for example doesn't look good enough, to be worth installing for me.
Playing JPOG I used to use little fences as possible, I used mountains to block the big carnivores into enclosuers and leave the smaller ones free with the herbivores, site B style. The dinos usually stay close to the ocean so ballons and cars can satisfy the guest if you make the route closer to were they stay. For the Big carnivores enclosuers observatories easly deal with the problem. Whoever there are some dinos that can't work in this style, the big carnivores(obviously) and raptors. The later because they hunt in pack, make a fell they die make a lot they kill everything.
I know jwe is a more established game (as of the end of 2020, where they ended the develpoement) compared to jpog, but there there really are some aspects where jpog did far better, mostly in area regarding dinosaur activities. I was the kind of guy who actually populated 1/3~1/2 of my park with gallimimus, by just watching them flocking around gives me a happy afternoon. This is something jwe never had; if they don't even run around together, then what's the point having a hundred gallimimus? I really hope frontier can bring back all these immersiveness in jwe 2, so we fans can feel that simple childhood happiness once again.
Watching this now, it’s funny to remember the days when the Raptors had 5 ugly skins, and since then 10 different skins have been added. The Challenge mode Steppe skin (which is just like the rest of the bad ones but it was added), the Raptor Squad skins, 1993 Raptor skin, 1997 Male and Female Raptor skins, and the 2001 Male and Female Raptor skins. We’ve come so far.
The transport problem in Isla Sorna, might be cause apparently you need to have at least one monorail very close to the Entrance, so it helps transport!!! Which is a bit annoying cuase it makes the monorail look a little off when you have to forcefully change the perfect path to make it somehow fit near the entrance. So yeah just something i noticed when i used to play a lot, and i had the same problem, awesome video btw loved it!!
4:13 You can easily modify the settings manually on the gamefiles to play with widescreen. Edit: Oh I see... Other people don't seem to have that issue.
I think it would be safe to say that for both JPOG and JWE being multiplattform games was somewhat detrimental as it's been with Frontier's Zoo Tycoon ventures.
I tried that, in fact it was the first thing I did because that used to work on my old system. Doesn't work now and I have no idea why. Then I looked it up and other people were having the same issue, and the fix was to run it in an older compatibility mode. This screwed with OBS though and it made it not recognize it as a game or even a window to capture footage for.
6:11 I personally like to think that Ray cauterized the wound with his lighter, somehow manages to get off the island back to Costa Rica who then deported him back to the USA, and then gets a cybernetically augmented robot arm to replace the one that he lost to the raptors. So TECHNICALLY, he's a cyborg now.
This is some Information you might want to know. You don't need to build a power station for unlimited energy , you can decrease the difficulty for economic, guest, welfare , and dinosaur variaty. Anyways I loved this video I hope you cover more stuff about this game. Subscribed
So for JP:OG on PC if you go into the game files and find the text file open it then in the search put in dig site and it'll take you to the line of code for the dig site it will say 6 of 12 if you change it to 12 of 12 you are able to open all dig sites in game
What really appeals to me as a modder/programmer is that JPOG has pretty much all it's data in easy to edit text files. Everything from the GUI to the specifics of how the dinosaur's AI is programmed can be easily edited to your liking. Want to spawn a Spino from a visitor center? Go ahead. Don't like the game UI? Just fix it yourself. It's an absolute dream compared to other games where most of that stuff is either hardcoded into the executable or stuck in hard to edit binary files. Hopefully, I can make a mod loader for the game soon using Reloaded ( let's you add custom code pretty easily) as I've already ported the no mouse acceleration patch to it ( no need to edit DLLs lol). Honestly this only scratches the surface of the modding potential the game has, it's honestly exciting.
That can be easily moded in so i don't see a problem. Honestly its a little bit embarrassing for JWE to be even compared to such old game from 2003. Frontier COULD have made it SO MUCH better yet they failed. At least the basics aren't bad...
59:00 those poses are for the sync while entering the animation ... its some kind of lining and finding the distance. But its all based on entering the animation. Class S+ review Btw i loved it, for me I absolutely hated JWE for leaving the tycoon genra. JPOG was brilliant for its time and i was expecting far more advancement on JWE but I didn’t find it.
I wish carnivores can attack rangers, and give rangers the ability to Tranq Dinos as well making the rangers more of an intense mini-game rather than a chore. it won't take anything away from choppers as the choppers would still be a superior asset and would unlock transporting, and it would make the rangers much more fun and interesting to use.
I don't understand the problem with evolution. I love jpog i owned it back in its prime and i still do own and play it. But in the end evolution is just flat out better with graphics more mechanics and the fact its constantly being updated to this day. The only thing i prefer from jpog is the hunting/fighting, dinos will attack you while driving vehicles and mods are easy to use.
@@CatBitchNami you poor thing, cant accept diverging opinions? You gonna cry? I played both and loved them both, but any one that says JPOG is better, seriously needs to take those nostalgiz goggles of their face because their not foing you any good, besides blinding you (wich now that i think of it, its also a bed thing lol) from basic dino animations, the wierd and bad and reducced camera angles, to claustrophobic maps, and bad graphics (even for that time in my opinion). JWE 1 and 2 are way better in my opinion
Nice to see a fair amount of JWE complaints like dinos that were missing from JPOG and terrain features like sand and dirt were added in not to mention building was made a LITTLE less tedious depending on the slope/barrier
actually we can edit some files at jpog to increase dinos per island, dig teams and sites and a lot more. one of the best games i ever played, and on that age was awesome, just made my love for those incredible creatures grow up. thats an old game but for his age its one of the bests!
The issue with your transportation on Sorna is that you have all of the tracks connected to every station. You have to separate them for the transportation score to go up. Because it takes longer to transport guests if they have to stop at every other station first.
Jurassic world evolution still has a lot of dinosaur AI that isn’t natural. Herbivores sit there as a carnivore approaches then only run when the situations hopeless. There is no true pack hunting mechanic where hunts are actually a cohesive group endeavor. There’s also build mechanics issues as well. No macro editing that allows for the creation of mountains and large geographic features; due partly because of the even more controversial decision to not allow building on the full island. Dinosaurs cannot destroy Jeep vehicles These are some of the more major drawbacks Jurassic Park operation genesis has a graphics deficit when compared to JWE obviously, but the modularity of the game ensures mods can remedy anything, including the problems JWE has. The oldest comprehensive redo mod for JPOG is called the GEP v2; and it’s features are so solid and streamlined that I still run it today as my base game modifier (DJE and PMEP still don’t come close, unless it’s a discussion of graphic comparisons). GEP v2 remedied JPOG vanillas infamous “migration to the south west” glitch that saw every dinosaur migrate and eventually just stay in that area. It increased the herd and pack mentality values while attaching migration patterns to frequency of danger to the time of season; which is actually really impressive for a 2003 game. The modular nature of the games internal files ensured terraforming mechanics were limitless. I changed a few values and am now able to create everything from the smallest hills to the most massive mountains. Rivers to lakes, open plains to dense jungle. GEP v2 made dinosaur AI reactive to its environment on a micro level as an animal alive would today. Tyrannosaurs and other large carnivores would stalk and indeed with GEP v2 changes remain hidden from a herd of dinosaurs on a nearby open plain as it watched from a dense nearby jungle. The AI was programmed to the point where if the hunger and aggression meter allowed, the Rex would sit there or slowly move along the rim of the forest and monitor the herd until a straggler peeled off. The AI would program the Rex to pursue the closest creature until it either killed it, switched targets or retired to the forest to try again. The GEP v2 backed this into the core of its system and it was fascinating to watch dinosaurs of all types interact this way in an environment that I had create entirely from scratch. Herds scatter in the event of an attack but will eventually reform and even migrate to a different perceivably safer area. Pack hunting is done as a cohesive unit. Raptors will peel off a straggler, make wide turns around the animal to corral it into a kill zone and 1, 2 or even 4 animals can latch on the the prey and take it down quicker. Vehicles can be destroyed and guest stranded in the park environment, adding an extra and realistic layer of danger. Weather mods allow for hurricanes that cause power outages and things of that nature, which is just more cherry on top extras. Unless comprehensive mods are allowed for JWE and said mods make the JPOG changes above that are not present, then JPOG will ALWAYS be better.
I made a park in JWE with no fences mocking site B and I had about 100 dinosaurs and in 5 mins the pop went from 100 to 30 the size of the map is way to small and all the dinos get pissed at each other
JPOG user interface is much friendlier than JWE. JWE one often blended with the background and also lack of opacity options as far as i know. I can't even inspect guest mood anymore despite the developers being the same as RCT and Thrillville (didn't played Planet Coaster yet but soon)
1:10:27 I know your monorail issue seems weird, but I think it's because your park entrance (!) is too far away from your first monorail stations. You can easily get a good monorail rating by placing your first monorail almost directly at your entrance.
I have to say I hated the JW movies they were massive letdowns but I’m glad they gave us a worthy sequel to a classic game that I loved growing up. Still have my copy for PS2 somewhere.
Good video. Jurassic Park 3 Park Builder is a good park builder consdering the hardware. There are 140 Diffent Dinosaurs in the game! You can even trade Danosaurs with a link cable. The game even has cheats for exta fun. I played this alot when I was a teenager, only ever beat It once thought. Graphics reminde me of Roller Coster Tycoon. To beat the game your park has to last 20 game years also there are 5 difficulty levels. The game is petty easy to figuer out, the 20 page manual was also very helpful.
Isla Sorna monorail didn't work because the off-end of the systems were not linked. Gotta make a full circle for it to work, thing can only move forward. Can't go in reverse.
Question, for JPOG, do you need an actual physical copy of the game in order for it to work, or can you just download one off the internet like the examples
JPOG still stands as the better version. It has more gameplay elements and features that JWE doesn't. I love them both, but JWE just has better graphics, it doesn't capture the fun and unique elements of JPOG. I feel like JWE could be more. Like more variety in attractions.
So true dude

I love how the Jurassic Park franchise has exposed me to dinosaurs that I’ve never even heard of and gain an appreciation for them. That even happened with me and JPOG. Even JWE is now doing that.
The series & going to museums as a kid made me a lifelong lover of Paleontology & Cryptozoology Not unlike Dr Grant.
I had no idea what a chasmosaurus was
Had no idea what proceratasaurus was
I had no ideia what a Atrociraptor was.
I know you said these analysis videos aren't going to be very often on your part, but I'm already looking forward to the next one. This is EXACTLY my taste in game analysis, one where your passion is clearly seen and you make me care about a game I never heard about simply because YOU care so damn much.
Albertosaurus was actually my favorite JPOG carnivore....... I don't know why. It was always just fun to have a pair of them in an exhibit.
Till they're panicking....... *Rawwrrr*
Haha I love their earrape roars 😂
I love how they move, they seem so fluid, it works really well for what I imagine a medium size carnivore would act like.
Ceratosaurus is my favorite carnivore but in JPOG they were terrible.
I love JWE's albertosaur I really don't know why xDDD
"Why is Dilophosaurus in Chinnnnnaaaaaa" Hahahaha
They ate him
sjdsjhsd yeah. I think it's like the Parasaurolophus replacing Charonosaurus in the game. It's meant to be Sinosaurus, which was at first thought to be a Dilo instead of a close relative.
1:28:59
I read that they Trump says China
One thing I loved about JPOG was letting herbavores wander among guests. Some guests loved it and some ran in terror so while it wasn't something the game told you to do, it was still very doable.
Thing is to keep cameras and Shelters nearby for Visitors to feel safe
I love how the JWE tornado is happening during a seemingly cloudless and full moon night.
Probably one of my favorite Jurassic World Evolution/ Operation Genesis,
I really do hope they add moding because I’ve seen some AMAZING fan made models for the game.
Chances are no because Universal was interfering with the development of JWE, and they said no to mods cause they were afraid of people modding in copyrighted material, leaving them liable
fuzzycatfur2008 mods were released actually, watch the gaming beaver’s JWE modded battle royale
I am from the future, modding the models is possible
@@fuzzycatfur2008
Lol, say that to the brachiosaurus garfield mod
Now they do have modding, just had a breakthrough that you are able to put a completely new dino in without replacing an old one
Lmaoo
The Limitations was there because the game was on PS2 and Xbox unfortunately. I had this game on Xbox and it played really well I thought. In fact, the sensitivity was never an issue. I think JPOG was a console game first, and a PC port after. I always felt JWE had such lifeless UI and aesthetics, it lacks heart JPOG had. The soundtrack was really nice in JPOG too
Hmm I disagree
I'm surprised i was able to beat the amazing maze mission when i was like 12. It was still frustrating.
You shoot the beacons and the carnivores first and then muster.
Wait... You could shoot the beacons? Hahaha! I may have made that mission much harder on myself.
Shooting the beacons is the easy bit for me. The muster? Dear lord...
On the PS2 version, I remember you can only get 3 dig sites.
Thats even worse wtf
Xbox you get 5 sites
PC you got them all
Ever since this video was posted frontier added:
Return To Jurassic Park with all the JP trilogy skins(Well most)
Raptot squad skin pack
Dinosaur packs with 3 dinosaurs each
DLCs with new campaigns, new missions, new characters and loads of new dinosaurs
Terrain tools
Singular trees, Redwoods and rocks
More hybrids(From the Dr.Wu dlc)
6 new islands/building areas(Nublar 1993, Sorna 1993, Sanctuary, Nublar North, Tocano Research Facility, Muerta East)
Challenge mode and sandbox on all islands
Some dinosaurs have been given unique animations(Nasutoceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Ourannosaurus, Compsognathus, Homalocephalae, Herrerasaurus Etc.)
New buildings(Greenhouse, Jurassic Park buildings, Aviary in both eras, off the grid buildings)
Now Rangers and Acu can both tranquilise, Medicate and shoot flares
Your jeeps can get destroyed by dinosaurs and you have to buy a new one
And more
53:23 Nailed it on the money with this one
And oh, you think mountains are pointless?
Let me stop you there
Mountains can be used as permanent and indestructible fencing and they can look good when you shape it with flattened option
You deserve much more credit. Thought I was watching a top channel🔥
U should do a video about how Jwe changed and how it stacks up to jpog now
Totally, just the parts that are different then in time of making this review
@@ElAndoro indeed. Kinda funny how he 100% accurately predicted the paid Velociraptor skins already :D
But then there's also decent paid DLC, especially his stance on the Return to Jurassic Park DLC would interest me!
Nahh.
My understanding of jpog vs jwe, for someone who played a shit load of jpog back in the day and has never played jwe is:
Jwe better graphics
Jwe better looking dinos and more variety
Jwe flying and water creatures?
Jpog much more variety of park attractions and services
Jpog more control over your park and more interactivity with guests and staff
Is this right?
I really hope you do an updated version of this, since with patches and DLC, there is SO much more content in JWE to talk about.
I hope it got better for you now, I just recently did another play through and I loved it! Wishing you luck
I'm sorry it's staying on the damn self and im gonna let it dust until something happens
wait a minute, copyrighted mods, companies can actually do that now.Like we can't play as crash bandicoot in skyrim anymore
I think Prehistoric Kingdom will be the true spiritual sequel to JPOG that we were hoping for.
Consoomer lol
JPOG>JWE. That could always be nostalgia though.
Trust me, it isn't nostalgia.
fuzzycatfur2008 you = wrong
@@zbor44 how exactly

Well I feel like I really have to thank you for the effort you invested in this video, it is the most complete comparison so far, you really went in to the smallest of details.
Here is you like and I will also suscribe my man.
Its actually pretty cool how so many of the problems he lists here have been taken care of for JWE. Shows that the devs do listen to their fans somewhat. Id love it if he did a followup.
Yeah and now JWE is a micromanage shitshow that makes you focus more on your staff than DINOSAURS, ya know. The point of the park?
Very interesting video. You mention the Zoo Tycoon series so much that I would actually love to see you cover it. Hope you make another video like this sometime in the near future!
For someone with only 527 subscribers, you sure put together a fantastic in depth video explaining both of these. Thank you Good sir
A thorough, thoughtful, and hilarious video. Subscribed and hope you get many more.
The fact I can charge 10 dollars per restroom use is one of the greatest things ever in JPOG. I mean I know its evil, but that's why it's so great.
Every small town needs a monorail.
i loved the island customization in jpog instead of jwe which is just a fixed area
Hey atleast most of the skins were included in Return to Jurrasic Park
I just want to say I have never watched your channel before I wacthed this video but this was so fun and entertaining to wacth!
honestly JPOG is beyond a classic. I love it so much. It really was absolutely amazing to see the classic Jurassic look and make an amazing park. I really enjoyed all of it
Same I put hundreds and hundreds of hours into it in my childhood. I was and still am a huge JP fan, and JPOG made my childhood dreams come true
Hell yeah brother, it has a special place in my heart..im currently enjoying JWE its fun but nothing beats the good classic game...Op Gen is legit
@@killerzombies96 or shit
Tbh its not the best at what it does where games like Zoo tycoon shit on JPOG
@@kiryuthedragonwarrior2746 well ur not wrong, its not perfect yes but its fun for wht its worth and mods made the game better
The Mess-O-Zoica skit at the end made the video worth it.
I spent countless hours just playing on Site B as a kid. Just watching my Dino ecosystem interact was the most satisfying thing to me
I always used to watch JPOG videos like crazy when I was younger and I remember hearing about JWE and thinking it will be the best thing ever.
In JPOG you can unlock all dinosaurs and remove building limits with a minor game script edit. :)
11 year old me was in awe in 2003 at this game and spent many days on it, in 2021 i see how little jurassic world evolution improved on something so simple
update this video, they added alot of new stuff
Still a great criticism today. However the updates to JWE have really shown Frontier's dedication to the fanbase and to matching JPOG. The new terrain customization, dino AI, and dinosaur roster really have improved the game exponentially. Aside from dryosaurus I think JWE now has every JPOG dinosaur in it.
JPOG holds a place in my heart, but I think JWE has finally truly surpassed it overall for me.
Adam Davis only visual ist JWE better , but gameplay wise JPoG surpasses JWE easely without a hitch
No benches, no toilets, no lights, vehicles that can’t be destroyed, no animations for the guests in Jwe. JPOG>JWE
JWE 's dinosaurs are still acting like a fucking robot.
@@Vulnak8n yep. Just better programmed robots
I really prefer Jpog than Jwe as i prefer Jurassic Park than Jurassic World
Love the video id like to point out we no longer believe most raptors hunted larger animals in packs for multiple reasons
JPOG felt like a dinosaur park tycoon game while JWE is a park tycoon game, that happens to feature some dinosaurs.
Childhood, beautiful
Thank goodness the modding of JPOG was so easy, the .ini files are very easy to read and understand for the most part
Bruh I'm 20 minutes in and just saw theres over an hour left... if you think I'm watching this all, then yeah you're probably right
8:30 sorry to tell you but you can if you get the mod, I’ve seen people get all of those without mods
Never knew about acros and charchars being able to share an enclosure in jpog, I'll have to do that in my next park
Fantastic video essay! I hope you will do something similar again.
J-WE is amazing on switch. Control is very good; runs fine in handheld mode
1:45:41 My favorite one of these is
“Alan”: Dream Velociraptor
I died laughing when I saw that
34:43 This man really predicted Adult Swim’s Primal
Honestly this only scratches the surface of the modding potential the game has, it's honestly exciting.
problem with genesis: limitations with items and dinosaurs
problem with world evolution: maps are way to small...
The opposite in comparison XD.
The monorail in JWE needs a circular track design to actually work.
RylantheReee
Dinosaurs attack you while driving now
@@keychainere dude I know I love it. I'm really liking what they got going with the game rn

Great video I love both games jpog was my child hood 😂
i have jwe but where do i get jpog, i had the game before in my old pc and i loved it. but i dont know where to get it now
Fine, i guess you are my JPOG champ
Nice to see a fair amount of JWE complaints like dinos that were missing from JPOG and terrain features like sand and dirt were added in not to mention building was made a LITTLE less tedious depending on the slope/barrier
actually we can edit some files at jpog to increase dinos per island, dig teams and sites and a lot more. one of the best games i ever played, and on that age was awesome, just made my love for those incredible creatures grow up. thats an old game but for his age its one of the bests!
@ 2:24 what a way to introduce gallimimus
Its kind of weird seeing this video two years later since a lot of the design details he complained about have been fixed lmao
Dinosaurs cannot destroy Jeep vehicles
These are some of the more major drawbacks
Jurassic Park operation genesis has a graphics deficit when compared to JWE obviously, but the modularity of the game ensures mods can remedy anything, including the problems JWE has.
I made a park in JWE with no fences mocking site B and I had about 100 dinosaurs and in 5 mins the pop went from 100 to 30 the size of the map is way to small and all the dinos get pissed at each other
Spirit Gaming14
Buy JPOG, mod it with the GEP V2 and then add The Forgotten Mod as well.
@@JPOGers Agree with all you said. Sadly you can't buy JPOG today. Better to get it off myabandonware.

I heard the ! in my head
I have to say I hated the JW movies they were massive letdowns but I’m glad they gave us a worthy sequel to a classic game that I loved growing up. Still have my copy for PS2 somewhere.
Im 3 years late to the party, but great video!
Can you do a similar one for Zoo Tycoon vs Planet Zoo?
I guess I'm evil. I've charged guests for the restrooms! 🤣
you nailed it when you called out the DLC move
That sublime feeling when Fish uploads a two hour video.
Gonna grab me some vidya, my waifu pillow, and some tendies and settle in for this one.
I know compared to the TF2 videos, these don't rake in as many views, but thank you for giving the dinosaur+gaming niche this video.
I had JPOG on Xbox, and I loved it! I bought it from our local Block Buster back in the day with my family
Jesus, the nostalgia overload i get each time i hear this game's soundtrack
Isla Sorna monorail didn't work because the off-end of the systems were not linked. Gotta make a full circle for it to work, thing can only move forward. Can't go in reverse.
Seeing that this was a bit over 2 years ago, it is good to see that several of the things that you brought up have been addresses for JWE.
Question, for JPOG, do you need an actual physical copy of the game in order for it to work, or can you just download one off the internet like the examples
you can download it off the internet but its somewhat difficult to get a good working version
@@plok742 I got the game via bitorrent
JPOG still stands as the better version. It has more gameplay elements and features that JWE doesn't. I love them both, but JWE just has better graphics, it doesn't capture the fun and unique elements of JPOG. I feel like JWE could be more. Like more variety in attractions.
@@ItsAmateurHour101 guests still feel like robots and no island customisation you idiot
@@ItsAmateurHour101you only used graphics and animations, i am very young and i prefer jpog gameplay
@@Vento.capitaodogpaganossacoca its a choice I respect that, at the end both are solid
