Awesome video! I’ve had an air brush kit for about a year now and have tried it a few times on a couple of baits. Loved doing it but never really stuck with it. Glad you’re doing a series on it, so I can learn a thing or two and get back into it.
Thanks for taking the time to make this for us
always wanted to try this, seems a bit over my head tho...
I'm saving money to get into lure making and painting.
Do it lojo
It's easy as, even making your own blanks is simple, takes me an hour per lure and I suck at it..
Painting blanks is easy as compared to anything, if you can push the button on the airbrush and aim then you can paint, and you do not need an expensive airbrush, I use a $20 airbrush and they work fine, but iwata makes some beautiful airbrush's but always use gravity feed as suction airbrush's suck Haha.
Best lure customer I've ever seen that makes lures with that much detail
I’m just now getting in two painting fishing lures I’m 13 and just got an airbrush kit for Christmas
MasterMind Nice! Post some vids of your work.
I’ll try soon thanks👍
Stick with it!
lol...When you were giving us suggestions to ask for, i think i was the only one who asked for this after reading the comments on that video. Now, look at all the comments saying how cool and sweet the lure looks, and wanting more info on it. Thank you for sharing this with us.
For the kill spot you should dip a q-tip and dip it in the paint it works
I would usually just skip ahead to 16:50, but I'm glad I watched the whole thing. I learned a lot.
Can you do the video where you compare a real cheap one to that? All money I use is mine and I’m tight on it right now. I would like to see how a cheap one works
Already ordered one 👍🏻
did you ever do the cheaper air brush video???
@milliken fishing did you ever make the comparison video of the cheaper airbrush vs the expensive airbrush???
A good spot to find equipment to repurpose for lure making is thrift stores and yard sales. I made my lure turner from a catering rotisserie , my jig heating over for power coating is a simple toaster over with adjustable temperature settings ( has to go to at least 350 degrees) and got a microwave for heating plastisol all for about $20. Then a week or so later got a presto pot for $5 at a yard sale to keep the plastisol at temp for dipping softbaits in clear plastisol after painting. Great hobby and Ben really covered the painting well. Nice job! Love the channel!
Dude your videos are dope I would love to start painting my baits but I don't have a lot of money do a budget bait painting Vid👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nathan Barber the 70$ kit off Amazon think it's called master airbrush comes with a mini compressor is not bad I have it
Master Airbrush Brand Compressor Model C-16-B Black Mini Airbrush Air Compre... www.amazon.com/dp/B00ATEKB5G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-xKtAbY11FEZE
fist post was wrong it's like 50
Thx
Also, thanks for the thing at the end.. I would have bought a whole bunch of crankbaits then painted them at the start.
Just watched the video, awesome job. It got me started painting. One problem though, the envirotex is giving me a gummy, tacky finish. Do you know how to fix that?
I started making wood lures a few months ago. This is by far one of the best airbrushing tutorials I've seen
That’s so fire 🔥 it inspired me to make my own plz pick me
Sure wish I would have watched this before I started. Excellent job explaining from A to Z. Newbies will appreciate this a lot especially if they watch this first before investing.
Is this gonna be your new company?
That was actually a good video. Most custom lure video are super boring with little info. Can’t wait to see you do more of these
Do giveaways for stuff that u made
Edit
Do some Jerkbaits one of my favorite lures one company makes a clear bait with no paint at all I thinks it’s strike king maybe find it on tackles whare house
I did.
That’s a sick bait. Really wanna try painting my own baits now
Can you do jerkbaits and poppers
You are a beast bro. I've fished my entire life and your opening new doors I never even thought of. I can't wait to try this!
my son wants too make crankbaits then have a fish off and see who's bait works the best. great video. watched this channel come along way over the last 2 years! thanks for another great vid!
Why are you the man?!!? Everything I am trying to learn or research, you’re teaching! Thanks, brother!
I already had a bunch of airbrush stuff never even thought to paint my own baits. Can't wait!
No matter what video i click on by you im always lefted suprised and glad i found you. Watching you over the past couple months made me fall in love with fishing all over again. I quit for 10 years.. Dont even know how bad i want to tell my boss to f off and live the dream your living man.
Hey brother. I'm a taxidermist from Alabama. I was very impressed with your video. Thanks for the information and opportunity to your experience and knowledge.
I bought a airbrush at Christmas and started painting lures right away. You gave good advice at the end. Anyways I’m on the right track and learned a bunch on my own and a few new things from you. Thanks
Dude your videos are so original in terms of every other fishing TH-camr! So fun to watch this one and how easy you made this look
Thanks for sharing this. You do almost exactly the same techniques and equipment that I starting using 4 years ago. Iwata Neo, the HF compressor, even the tool you used to make the sexy shad line and red gill plate near the end to the bbq motor. I use the craft paint at Walmart and thin it with windex or sometimes future floor polish ( that requires cleaning a lot as its a wax and will clog the gun), to consistency of milk. Works great and cheaper, pearl white airbrush paint is awesome misted over a paint job too, little is more!!! I use a hole punch on folded over painters tape for my kill dot so it's even for both sides of the lure. Clear coat i use is duplicolor auto clear from autozone..I spray my bait with 2 coats of krylon crystal clear, heat set, then do a fast dip in the can of clear coat, let it dry, then dip again and hang, give it a try just dip fast or sometimes it can wrinkle the paint if not krylon clear sprayed 1st to help protect it, I also use 2ton 30 min epoxy. Keep up the good work!!
I just started making my own crankbaits, swimbaits and jerkbaits. I've been making them out of wood. I use pine a lot for my wood its cheap and easy to cut and carve. I've practicing painting on paper and cardboard so that really helps. Thanks for the video!
was watching a boat review and this video came up on the selection of next up window ... since I watch alot of your more recent stuff and since I've bought some custom painted jerk & cranks from a local Fresno Ca guy who does lives paints on FB sells / giveways ( Sanger Custom ) this video caught my atten nice breakdown of what it takes to get started ... pretty kewl what you can do with a couple simple colors ... I got into buying pre-made unpainted Football jigs.. powder painting and hand tying the skirts on an adding weed guards bout 8 months ago... ( personal use for now, but have given some away to a local guide i went out with & a few friends to get their opinions ) they catch fish !!! and are impressed with the color pattern and quality....... recently been thinking about the Air Brush'n thingy this video is make'n me lean towards taking the plunge ....also like the part YOU WILL SUCK AT FIRST .and to practice a lot first before jack'n up lures ....
Great video for someone like me who is gathering info on starting the lure painting hobby. Info was quick but very detailed. I'll be watching more from you brother. Appreciate it .
pretty slick I am an avid auto painter and have been wanting to get into this as a hobby and this video helped me out tons!!!
This is the first time I watch one of your videos. And what I was looking for most was putting on the epoxy and how to properly do it.
Ever since I started watching your vids you easily became on of my favorites but this one just put you over the top. Take notes kids, this is how you do it. You’re like every TH-cam fisherman wrapped up in one. Love it!!!! Sky is the limit. Wish nothing but great things for you!
please do more of these videos! I saw the title and it automatically made me want too start painting baits! I already make soft plastic baits, but the hard bait painting seems way more cool!
Badger airbrushes are all I use and all I will ever use. The owner is a friend of mine and they make a fantastic airbrush at a great price point.
They also have the best customer service in the industry period!
The Patriot 105 is an excellent airbrush as is the Renegrade Krome.
With limited experience myself I can honestly say you are pretty good with that airbrush. Likes the video.
Dude for sure do more custom baits vids. I don't care if you don't commentate. It looks dope and of course you can always do custom bait challenge.
Have never airbrushed and very interested in creating blades colors for my salmon/steelhead spinner fishing. But I had to watch just because I notice the Husker background. I am an old Husker myself in ‘94-96. Great info and a lot to comprehend. Tight lines!!
I love how you have been putting time stamps in the videos and in the description👍
Great vidio! Just got my airbrush yesterday.
I've been bass fishing for a few years now, and I know what works.
Thanks again for the vidio, it will help me out alot.
Excellent video. Very informative. A straightforward way to show what you need to start out painting hard lures. Nice job on that crankbait by the way. Man, you are not kidding about taking the time to learn how to use your airbrush and how to properly clean it.
I love custom crankbaits, have painted quite a few myself,it is addictive
Just wanted to start by saying you are F@&$ing awesome!! The knowledge you have is incredible!! I’ve watched all of your videos and used the tips and tricks you’ve so generously shared with all your MFing fans!! I’m catching more and more fish each time out one the water thanks to you. Thanks bro.. If your ever in or around Austin TX I’d be honored to show you some of my best spots... Can’t wait for the next video!!
I have been working with all kinds of lures your video was so nice to watch for some ideas on my next lure to paint
Started spraying about two months ago and I love it , this is a very good information video
Awesome paint job on the crankbait, been thinking about getting into it for me and my kids. The ability to customize is endless!
Absolutely loved this video. I was a fan of your channel before, this takes you to the next level in my eyes. I've been making and painting lures for about 4 years now. I'm so stoked to see another utuber doing baits. Keep up the good work. Now you just have to try building one of your own lures.
Best painting series I have ever seen!! Please do more!
That's a good looking paint job. Would be another good hobby to get into during bad weather
Man, nice job! You just became my favorite TH-cam channel! Loved the great advice at the end, about not being an expert right off, that is so true. I've learned the hard way. But it's a really fun hobby! And a tremendous feeling of satisfaction when you catch a bass with a lure you made or painted.
Dope paint job love the video, got an airbrush, paint and bag of blanks last xmas this inspired me to finally get started
this video opened an all new interest to me. always looking forward to see what you do next! keep fishin my friend
This looks like a lot of fun to make baits the way I want for my areas and style of fishing. Thanks for the video brother.
I love the Video! New to Airbrushing Crankbaits. All of your information is so helpful! I love to Bass Fish, and getting ready for my 2nd tournament in March. This is a GREAT hobby to do when it's to cold out to go fishing! TY
Great video bro... It's the best explainning about airbrush and painting lures. Congractulations about this video.
Ben,
You have the best overall fishing vids. Very diversified. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video...I was thinking last night that I should learn to make my own cranks..and bam you did it thanks man!!
Bro! This is awesome, you just gave me a new hobby! I really hope you do more of these, I really can’t wait to see them. Very nice and thank you!!
I one day hope to paint some of the lures that I have already carved out. Videos like this are great information.
I caught my PB using your video on how to improve a frog Love your videos keep up the good work
Awesome paint job man! I think I found a new hobby. Keep the painting videos coming!
I love this type of stuff. It just looks so cool to paint your own lures.
Btw that bait came out great.
I would never have the time nor do I have the skills to do this, but kudos man! That is sick AF! And you great at it , I enjoyed every second of this video. Looking forward to future paintings.
Looks better than something you could buy at a store, great video
Awesome video. Keep it up for sure. Airbrushing baits is something that I have wanted to get into for the past 6 or so years. Now that I have a baby due next week and will have a lot of downtime from the water I may just have to pick up an airbrush to fart around with when time permits. Keep up the good work Ben, cheers from Ontario, Canada
Man! I already have a addiction to pouring jigs. Now your gonna make me spend more money! Great video keep them coming
wow thanks i been looking for a clown crank bait i never even though of painting my own , i do have a few air brushes all ready. i have in the pass done pine wood cars , and others thing for my kids ,

Glad you are going to do a whole series on custom painting
Winter sucks, can wait to use the very informative video to customize some baits to catch some ditch donkeys this spring. Keep up the great videos! Peace out!!!!👍
What a great video. My birthday is coming up on the 20th of January and I am definitely going to ask for this stuff to get started. Keep up the great videos!!
I didnt know Milliken painted too! Im on a few crankbait painting pages and have been painting for only about 6 months and loving it. So much fun!
Wish we could see some more vids like this! Love watching people paint baits!
Love the vids man, watching all the way from Puerto Rico and thanks to your vids I’m getting my first fishing rod. Keep doing what you doo and I wish you the best.
I have done model kits for years. I want to try this thanks for the tips!!
One of your most informative videos yet, love the channel..... Think I may have just found a new hobby!! tight lines
Glad to see you getting into making painting videos. That looks good. Look forward to seeing more.
every time I see a notification pop up that a new vid had posted by Milliken fishing, i get pumped! keep um coming
Great videos keep up the good work one of the only channels that I still look forward to videos knowing it's good content not just some random non fishing nonsense like so many have turned into
Please do a series on this subject! One of the best so far..
Wow that crankbait turned out really good! Good Job!
I'm really liking the lure painting dude! Me personally, I carve my own baits from wood because I have cold winters here like you and my garage is basically a giant work place. If you want I can make a crankbait for you and I can send it and you could paint it. I've made a deep diver, a medium diver, and I'm finalizing a few things on a 6 in jointed swimbait. Hit me up if you're interested, and keep on with the lure painting!
Great video. Fishing related but a different type of content that what you usually put out. I personally think it keeps the channel interesting.
I just realy enjoy what you are doing. I am really looking forward to the future fishing videos and the air brush videos, keep up the amazing work and can't wait for more.
This is awesome. And the paint on that lure is sick.
Been wanting to do this for the past 3 winters and always talk myself out of it. Really planning to go for it this year. Thanks for the tips
Awesome video. I just started making my own jigs because of your video on it and I needed something to do for a school project, as well as somthing to do when it's too cold to open water fish. Hopfully I can try this one day too. But even with the jigs, a big problem is finding all the stuff cause it's all in different places.
Awesome video my bro I a looking into learning to paint lures and reels, your intro with needed items was enlightening thank you
Just painted my first zara spook for a catfish rig this video was on point! Thanks...
Love you videos man. Thanks for the custom bait paint video. Kinda looking for something I can get busy with.
Really liked this video, especially during the winter months. Make some more!
I have been playing with airbrushes for years. So I thought I would try and paint a blank useing your pattern. I bank fish and its super hard to land bass where i am at. But I was super stoked when I caught a 1/4 Sluanch on my first painted blank.
That was amazing. I love watching stuff to do with painting. I like painting my vehicles an I been looking for a good airbrush instructional video. This helps a lot. Can’t wait for it to warm up here in tx so I can paint my truck. But yeah I definitely want to see more of these type videos
Awesome video , been waiting for it since you first mentioned doing one. Can't wait for the next one .
I have been wanting to try airbrushing lures. Perfect video going to help me a lot thanks.
Impressive. Definitely want to try this as a hobby in the winter time
Would love to see you paint more it's awesome seeing them go from a basic thing to a sweet useable bait
Dude that video was sick you are putting in the hard work is so awesome to me if your going to do something every thing you do make you a better fisherman awesome work dude fisherman for life is what I believe in !!!!!!!
Awesome paint work on those crankbaits man now I’ve definitely got to paint some.
You're my favorite TH-camr and you're good at catching fish
