You literally have to prove your child's being neglected in order to win custody and even then your Mother has to take custody and not you. That's how biased the law is! Kid is thin, malnourished, and then social service has to check out that the father's home is able to handle that child. THEY NEVER CHECKED OUT THE MOTHER'S HOME! But that's the way it is. And I ain't talking about a dirty home or any of that, can you provide for that kid's daily up keep? If no, then give that child to the father that wants it.

I had custody of my daughter from the time she was 5 till 18. I never received a dime from my ex wife. If that was me I would of been in prison! I didn't care I just wanted custody. I was able to provide a excellent childhood for my daughter on my money not child support.. The first five years of her life I paid child support and insurance, also had her most of the time.. I just do not get the double standard I've figured up that if she would of paid what I did over 13 years would of been close to $750,000.. Something needs to change!!
If you had fought for her to pay, would the court have jailed her and/or forced her pay.

Kayla O. Appreciate the reply but my point to him is that a father has to want to actively be in a child's life, it's not the court nor the mothers job to ignite that in that man. I view it as a broader issue that obviously starts well before the child is born, but can't be solved after.
Also his initial premise was "child support should be about time spent not money" of course it sounds good, but no child can live solely off of "time spent"..nor should they have to choose between that and being financially supported.
And why the disconnect between the man and the child. I'll post this question: if a woman spent time on the child(which most do) but only produced the "bare minimum" for the child to live off of, when she is financially capable to exceed that, how would you perceive her and why?(for examples sake the child lives with the father and makes less than the mother)

Child support SHOULD be paid in the form of an EBT card or to a supervised account. Many states are all ready doing this. The woman should not just be given a blank check. Yo. If I'm gonna pay child support, I'd think the better idea is something like... I'll put the money in an account neither parent can touch. let's say a percentage of the total amount owed. If child support is $1,000/month, drop $750 of that into an interest-bearing savings and give $250 in cash to the mother. Maybe even do an $800/$200 split. that way, my child would have something to sit on when they reach 18.

New dependents , income reduction, job loss, inflation, cost of living , rent increases, ect.
It's about control and separation, the child is just a scapegoat, the courts uses the term "Best Interest" of the child, without any explanation of what that would be, when it's really in the best interest of the states who get funding for collection, of child support payments.. Social Security title IV-D Act 458. While at the same time, Social Services is an child trafficking agency and everything is always hush hush. They then drive the kids to other states for "weekend trips", it's all a big game, with men being railroaded, women coddled by deception the child becomes fatherless and the government wins again.

A woman making minimum wage will get custody of a child, while the father making six figures is forced to pay 10s of thousands to her. Why not simply give him custody? I mean, we all know why it's not done; we think men can't raise kids, but they can and do, all the time. So, let mom go to college and get her life in order, and give the kid to someone who can afford their care.

I've been paying child support for along time. I have two kids from two different women. I have full custody of my daughter. Full physical and legal custody, and can not get a dime from her mom. There is no equality. I have 50% custody of my son and still have to pay child support. The system needs to be fixed.

Personally, I feel child support should be capped so that the kid(s) can experience a middle class lifestyle. If you want your child to have the lifestyle of a high end parent, give them custody. After those 9+ months of incubation during pregnancy, there is nothing special about what the mother can do other than breastfeeding and if you look at the stats fewer women breastfeed now than ever before because it's too painful, the kid aren't feeding enough to grow and develop healthily and women today enjoy their vices just as much as men do, ie. drinking, weed, smoking, etc. etc. You can't breastfeed if you're doing all of that and today's women are all about less restrictions and more freedoms so why not grant primary custody to fathers who can afford better housing conditions and pay for the required necessities of their children and let women have visitation of the children as necessary, this would allow mothers to pursue better employment, education and a chance to improve their lives and become self sufficient. It's 2020 not 1960, the time of mothers being more important to children than fathers has passed.
