Tamiya TT-01 speed run STOCK 540 to Titan 550 Nimh vs Lipo

turns out a higher turn brushed motor benefits from a Lipo over Nimh.
This was my first test ever!!! The 12 turn Titan on Lipo was only 1 mph faster that Nimh....SOOOOOOO ... not really that much better.. dont throw the old batteries out just yet...

I have a tt02. I used the stock brushed 540 torque tuned motor, 6 cell nimh battery. And upgraded to a 25 tooth pinion. Right out of the box I was able to get 22.8 mph whith the new pinion.

My TT02 with super stock RZ motor 29 tooth pinion, with 7.4V lipo battery record 50km/h. the consequence is the motor heat up to a unbelieveable temperature that i even cant touch it more than a second.with my finger. i have to take a break every 5 min run

Nice. Stock motor on nimh 16mhp. Then on 2s lipo you got 18 mph on the stock motor. Wow and 22mph on 2s with the 12t motor, with foam tires you got 23mph. Next you have to add 3s lipo and 3s lipo brushless comparison.

does the lipo offer longer run times overall also shorter recharge time? I'm not doing speed runs. just backyard club racing.

It all really depends on your mah which is the capacity of charge it holds (run time) lipos do charge faster than nimh with appropriate charger. Only thing is lipos require a lot more maintenance with balance and storage.

I did the same thing with a TT02B and brushed Titan 12T but on 3S. I was able to reach 37mph. 🤙🤙

I'd say 4300 , 4370 kv on 19t pinion & 2s or 3300 kv on 3s geared down too maybe 17t.
Think as you approach 40+ mph you'll have the chassis start sliding on you.
You can get a different motor mount so you can mount up different pinion gears as well as it's an onroad car you could probably jump up 3 - 4 teeth on the titan 12t no problem for shorter speed runs even higher.
