    Sheridan's signature is that he makes intelligent films for adults. "Sicario" is one of the great films of the century. "Hell..." was one of last year's top 5 films. "Wind River" will surely land on my Top 10 or higher for this year. Poland does the BEST interviews.

    @9:48 the shift at the 3rd act was amazing and makes the movie very unique. That's one reason why I love this film maker and to hear that he fought with studios to keep it in makes 2 scenes that are bridged very sweet. I think we will look at this filmmaker's catalog like we look at Scorsese and Tarantino and just revisit all these fantastic stories and the unique, moving ways that they're told.

    Interesting stuff about cutting. I like Villeneuve but Blade Runner especially suffered from a cut that's just a bit too long for the cinema and falters here and there.
    The juxtaposed scene in Wind River technically wasn't needed because we see other clues that tell us what happened, yet it was an interesting break in the tension. And what tension it was! Considering the cartridge scene, weapon stopping power seems to have deliberately played a part in the narrative and impacted the shoot-outs. Also props to Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - their range is always quite narrow but the music alone is strong enough to carry scenes (not that it’s needed).

      @Tommy Meyers, yeah I don't either; I came here mainly because of Denis Villeneuve and my love of Sicario. Really, it's more of a reflection of the filmmakers opinion, using Taylor as a vehicle to express their conjoined feelings. You can tell it was just pre or post interview B-roll footage that they chose to edit into the final piece and place at the beginning to make sure it was seen. Not faulting Taylor, it's just a poor post production decision.

    • @emalinel
      @emalinel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What? No, he was not. He was in a motel with his wife to take a break from the kids. The daughter died bc she invited some friends over and well...somehow she got assaulted and she ran away from home then died in the cold. We don't know the entire story but it's very similar to how the other girl died in the film.

    A really smart guy. interesting to listen to. But two questions:
    - at 9:05 he goes "There's the director in me - I just crossed the line, I gotta keep my eyes over here". Is it like that when filming, that the actors can't look over to "the other side" of the camera?! I thought they were just not supposed to look INTO the camera, but anywhere else is fine. Not "crossing the line" seems like a strange rule. How can you act natural whilst controlling your glances?
    - Do Hollywood producers really care so much about the chronology or a screenplay? The rape scene could never have gone in the start of this movie - THAT would have messed up the structure. Lots of films are anti-chronological, when the story demands it - like "Inside Man". Why the hell would they object to that here?
    Well, anyway - love his work. Bringing back real movies to Hollywood, instead of the never-ending weird-powered superheroes and their exploding CGI spaceships.

Sad, but we the audience might not agree with his politics yet we are the silent viewers who pay the money to support his filmmaking career. First of all I absolutely love Wind River and all of Sheridan’s work. But it just feels like such poetic justice when he talks shit about Trump, someone he doesn’t know or have any personal connection with. (Most likely) and by the same token is so complementary of Harvey Weinstein. What great judge of character right? Someone we should really trust. Watch the company you keep.

      Typical MAGA idiot response. "Huh, one thing i don't agree with. Yep, I don't need to LEARN anything else."

    After reading the synopsis for Wind River, this is the type of story which makes one think about the film's characters going into shops and doing normal things afterwards, which is a bad thing. Wind River's story is the same as many other stories, which is what makes this type of reaction a negative bias against the film; a story shouldn't make you think about the characters in the story using shopping malls and reading books afterwards

      Thomas h cullen “after reading the synopsis..” so you haven’t even seen it?! Stfu then. The characters in this movie are fucking filled with depth and charisma. The writing is fucking ridiculously good. Honestly I’m not even sure what the fuck you’re on about.

      Is making the characters feel like real people not great writing? If you are writing Super Heroes then yes I agree with you but real world characters need to feel real.

      The fact that you didnt know is what's important. It means he can separate his "agenda" from his writing.

    I like this guy's writing and especially Yellowstone. But keep your politics separate from your work ffs. I lost respect instantly with those opening remarks. Trump has done absolutely nothing to be impeached for. He's the best President for America of my lifetime or more. Try listening to less CNN, snowflakes.

      sounds like you're the snowflake. For the record maybe don't go outside if you can't handle opposing political opinions that don't validate your cult like echo chamber safe space.
