Psycho 2 is awesome. I'm always trying to decide which one I like more between that and the original. Psycho 2 wins for me more often than not.
Yeah it definitely gives the original tough competition. Might be the best horror sequel ever made
oh goodness, didn't think it would be as hard as it was. Mine would be.5) The Shot for Shot remake Psycho, BUT, It doesn't bother me like it does others. I do enjoy it as an updated cast and in color. 4)Psycho 3. 3) Psycho 4 the beginning. 2) Psycho 2 and 1) The Original Psycho. I do like them all and I can and do watch Psycho marathons of all 5 and it's great fun. (5 years later (1965) he played another psycho serial killer in a film called The Fool Killer which I love, he really seems to make the character almost an escaped Norman Bates..lol)
Thank you, The fool killer will be added to my watchlist
I actually thought the "real mother" reveal at the end was a jawdropping double twist that really worked making part 2 my favorite. Another factor is that unfortuntely, I knew "the twist" before seeing part 1 so I did not experience its brilliance which probably effected my ranking. Regardless, you are correct to say that Psycho 2 is perhaps the greatest (horror) sequel ever with all the twists and even turning Noman into a sympathetic character.
Insightful, thorough analyses of films seemingly produced before you were even born. How deeply motivated are you by your interest in these movies? For example, regarding this particular series/narrative, have you (or would you) read SPLIT IMAGE (Perkins biography) or the Rebello book chronicling the creation of PSYCHO? In this video, you mention the Bloch novel which the original is based on. Would you consider reading it? Have a delightful Halloween. Thanks for the uploads.
Thank you, and I just love movies and the psycho franchise is pretty good as a whole. I would definitely be interested in reading Perkins bio or the original novel.
Great review, u speak very clear. And explain your thoughts so well
thank you!
BEST to WORST:
1. Psycho II
2. Psycho (1960 Original)
3. Psycho IV: The Beginning
4. Psycho III
5. Psycho (1998 Remake)
The original and part 2 are so close for me! Both great films
I've only seen first 2 , love them both. May try 3 soon after watching your video.
Yeah it's definitely worth a watch. Enjoy!
Psycho and Psycho II are excellent classic slashers. 3 and 4 are still watchable and still consistent and the show Bates Motel is phenomenal
I agree on everything!
Next month, I’m planning to do a dirty, Harry ranking I have the thumbnail ready and I’m pretty sure I’m only allowed to watch the original
Dirty harry was a good franchise. I've watched them for the very first time earlier this year
I just finished your dirty hairy ranking good job on it
My Favs are
P1
P4
P2
P3 and Remake tie!
Cool to see someone put part 4 so high 👍

Ya it was the first one I saw honestly on cable when I was a kid and I liked that Norman was played by Elliot from ET!
I watched the psycho remake before the original. I didn't know there was an original and sequels till a friend told me.
5. Psycho 4
4. Psycho 1998
3. Psycho 3
2. Psycho 2
1. The classic original psycho
Yeah like I said, it can be enjoyable especially if you watched it before the original. Thanks for watching
There were actually six films. As there was another stand-alone entry that came between 3 and 4 called Bates Motel.
Yeah I actually just heard of that one recently but could not find it anywhere to watch. If I ever do find it, I'll update my ranking. From what I gather, most people don't even know that it exists
@@themovieranker Yeah, most people don't. there was a period where it was available on a multi-pack with 2, 3 and 4. But I don't know how easy it is to get hold of that now. Though I've never checked to see if anyone uploaded it on TH-cam.
@@themovieranker I don't count for various reasons. 1 it's made for tv not a theatrical film. (And I don't mean cable, just regular network tv) so it shows nothing really scary. The idea (Just some guy who roomed with Norman in the psych ward inherits the motel) is ok as some kind of spin-off, IF they made an actual theatrical horror film and all the stuff that would go with it). So I don't really count it as part of the franchise myself.
Psycho Remake
Psycho 3
Psycho 2
Psycho 4
Psycho
Cool to see you with part 4 up so high. Olivia Hussey does give a great performance
Great ranking, Nic!! You surprised me with #1! I thought psycho 2 would be #1!
Psycho is one of my favorite franchises, and my ranking is in order lol!!
Yeah while the sequel is amazing, I had to give it to the 1960 classic. It's an easy 10/10
