Very helpful although I have a manual for the 550d it's really good to see your step by step video. I have my camera at hand and followed you . Looking forward to your next video
Thank you so much for this tutorial . I’m new to photography and was recently given a canon EOS550D. There’s so many buttons, but your video will help a lot. 😊
Thank you so much for this. I had my canon 550D several years now and still i can't take a sharp photo with my cam. Can you please teach me how to set the shutter speed, the aperture and even the iso so i can have a sharp photo using this cam? During day time & night time please...Again thank you so much Tom! more power to you! God bless you more...
Let me just explain in short 😂 Aperture is just a window thingy that lets the outside light in. The higher the aperture is, the darker your image is. Also higher aperture will reduce the depth of field, which can be good for portrait photography. Shutter speed is just the speed that you camera make the click sound. Fast shutter speed will make the image clearer, but you can only do this under some bright place bc fast shutter in dark place will creates many noise. Most of the time the slow apertures are use for special light effect, you ca search it in TH-cam if you're interested. IOS is the your camera system's brightness. Pretty useless bc I always set the exposure by the clicking and changin with the exposure button
Because the lens you are using will only go down that low. If its a zoom lens, then it will have a variable lower aperture depending how much you zoom in. At 18mm the aperture will go to f/3.5 for example. If you zoom out to 55mm, the lowest aperture will change to f/5.6 or something similar. More expensive lenses have fixed apertures, meaning they can stay at their maximum aperture throughout the zoom range.
When you said that the nightfunction selects a longer shutterspeed in order to collect bagground light, didn't you mean a higher iso? A bit confused. Best regard, from a newbie
It may also increase the ISO but it will mainly pick a slower shutter speed to let more light in. It probably has a built in limit in which it will hit a certain shutter speed and not go slower than that, then start increasing the ISO.
Got one of these today, trying my hand at photography for the first time and this guide is invaluable. Thank you
Glad it helped! Good luck on your new endeavour!

is the thing above the screen let you see the photos before you shoot them?
It's the viewfinder yeah. It's an optical image directly from the lens, not a digital one so any changes to settings have no impact on it.
@@TomPhotoix tysm for replying so quickly

You can’t, it’s a fixed 50mm lens. All you can do is crop the photo in a photo editing software.

Press the live view button beside the viewfinder with the red dot next to it.
