Hey Chris, Sounds like you and Mike were enjoying the ride. Glad to see you out again. I took the radio and cassette off my 1500 and installed a system with blue tooth. Cassettes are hard to find and only with old music. It seemed that the truckers didn't want to talk to you. I never used my cb radio on my goldwing. Enjoy the ride and ride safe. Butch Johnson
Thanks Butch, many bike groups still use CB radios to communicate, if I'm ever riding in a group, I have the best of both worlds with my wireless bluetooth, or my CB radio.
I have had CB radios on my Goldwings since 2004. I ride with a lot of Goldwingers and we all use the CB which we run on channel 1 so we don't have to listen to the foul mouth truckers, lol.
FYI. I also wired my gl1800 5 pin to my Garmin 590lm and can listen to the bike's ent system and gps BT'd to Sena 20s. The only thing is I won't be able to transmit using the CB. But I do have or plan to use a CB. Thanks for all yours and Memphis Mike and others advise.
Hello Chris and Mike, I know all about bell bottom trousers having served in USN for 20 years. Since I left, I understand that the service went to blue camouflage. The HD Ultra as both of you know, comes standard with the cb radio. And I'm able to llisten through a J&M headset. But the Sena 10c, with bluetooth, should enable me to listen to the Garmin bluetooth, mounted on the right handlebar. I'm just not sure about the Sena's earpiece mounted in the same enclosure (for the ear) in the helmet, as the J&M headset earpiece.
I wouldn't recommend mounting a wireless system in the same helmet as a wired system. If you are using the J&M headset, it should be mounted in it's own separate helmet, the same goes for the Sena 10c.

I don't have cb on my damn klr650 but I do carry a handy talkie on the cage and it came in handy 2 weeks ago when a cager tailgated another cager on i65 heading to Indy, I was able to inform everybody in the 2 lane parking lot when the mess got cleared out.
Got a CB question for you Bro Chris. I have an OEM CB on my 2009 and it works fine but the headset (includes mic and ear pieces) that came OEM are a problem. I don't mind the dangling boom mic, but the dang ear speaker is so thick I can't get comfortable with it. I'm wearing a 2X helmet and even with that, after a couple of hours, my head feels like it is in a vice. I had to remove one ear piece so I'm getting by with one in the 2X helmet. So, have you run across any CB mic set with a small, thin or I-pod like earpiece that actually inserts in the ear AND it all fits together with the 2009 OEM cable and plug. (that last AND is the big one!) Thanks for any info.

Chris, do you know if I can get a cheap CB radio for my bike, that is not for a Goldwing? Sounds like a little bit of feedback on it. I know that the Run For The Wall Ride uses CB radio and I am going to hopefully get one before next years ride.
Aftermarket CB radios are easy to find online, the Honda OEM cb radio is made just for the Goldwing which is compact, and ties into the bike infotainment system. Not sure it they make a factory CB radio for your bike, but all CB's work the same, fixed mounted or handhelds.
hey chris it might have been best to have had your c b peak and tuned before installing it also this new generation of truck drivers not. all but most don't run with cbs I wouldn't leave home without it going out on the road...that's just me

Chris the problem is if we have a group of 10-12 bikes the sena will not work so the CB has longer range and unlimited bikes.

Actually, that's pretty cool to have access to that CB radio. So, you can connect or talk to some truck drivers while you're riding? Awesome.
Some bikers still use CB radios, some use bluetooth, but I have the best of both world being able to talk to both simultaneously.

For my setup on the my goldwing i have sena sm10 connected to passengers din but to use a CB radio with sm10 to transmit I use a j&M hand mic
If it works for you, it works for me, It's always more than one way to skin a cat, I know because I'm a cat skinner, lol.

The CB is unit is sealed from Honda, it doesn't look like a traditional CB radio, but I am looking into making adjustments if possible.
Chris, the installation of the CB, did you have to add wires, or was it plug n play
