  • I made this mini lathe using my rotary tool and some scrap wood and metal pieces. It is made for manufacturing small items for modelism purposes.
    Tools and materials:
    Rotary tool: amzn.to/2IKdUSS
    Block plane: amzn.to/2C1hCGu
    Drill: amzn.to/2ykA3Cx
    Jigsaw: amzn.to/2pP39WZ
    Chisel set: amzn.to/2pILO1B

Works great for a large dog's nails, seems to hold a charge long enough. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR I plan to use a couple of times a week, lightly, rather than have to subject the dog to longer sessions. I read that it's important to move quickly from nail to nail so it doesn't get hot, but it hasn't seemed to be much of a problem. I practiced on my own nails first (they have a strong gel, I don't know about this for natural nails), to learn how to hold it. It charges quickly enough for me and I like the variable speed. Instructions are clear, no problem putting it together or changing the tip. Might use this for some legit woodwork, even.

I don't think I will be needing a lathe anytime soon so I thought if I do need one it better be for something I really need it for. And if so I better need it for more projects then just one. So with that said, I think I will go to Harbor freight and buy a small lathe I can get more use out of.
Besides even though that video was pretty good. It was bouncing around so much from point to point. My head was spinning like it was in a lathe.

Great idea, I have a mini lathe and turn small finials to fit scrollsawn ornaments. Lets see, I have 4 rotary tools, looks like one of these is in my future. Thanks, great idea.....I also have a roto zip set a friend gave me, might be onto something here... I used it once as a router and its been stored in its storage bag since. Could be a good tool to repurpose.

Nice set up and lighting and good job with the handplane! My dremel tool came with an adaptor, kind of a washer with an extrusion that you could install right around the spindle, to be able to clamp it to their own vise or any other set-up. It would have been useful for you!
After your tests, was unbalanced parts an issue at that rpm? thx!
