A common problem with older BSA airguns is the material used for the buffer washer which disintegrates over time turning into a cheese-like material. The other problem is the nylon piston head which can absorb oil and swell, eventually becoming jammed in the cylinder. The remedy is replacing it with an alloy version which is available from Chambers Gunmakers, England. These pistols were introduced in the early 70's and the first ones in .22 cal were recalled as they exceeded the UK power limit of 6 ft lbs for pistols. These are designated as RA. Even after BSA had ironed out the power problem these pistols should achieve 5.5 ft lbs. Approximately 400 in .22 and 550 in .177 depending on pellet weight. Chambers also sells the correct mainspring for the Scorpion. Many thanks for a great video.
So glad our mutual friend at Ralins told me about your you tube channel ! And thanks for the information on where to get the seals for the Crossman pump gun from the 1950s the 83 year old gentleman I got them for was thrilled to be able to put his gun back into shooting shape !
Really improved the cocking effort. Like the DIY made tools to work with. If you get between 400 to 450 fps with another spring that would be good. I'm still waiting every time you pull the trigger for a laser beam to come out. Lol.
Dieseling will not hurt the gun specially a pistol it's only traveling a few inches it's good to seat it in good in fact most springer the piston moves over 200 mph but not on a short stroke gun like pistols or most. Any old gamo or gamo daisy's if it has a short chamber they don't have time to build up speed and power like a long chamber gun or magnum that's only a 25 mm seal well the piston head is 25 mm but outside seal is 25 .5 mm if it was 30 plus mm it might get 550 fps but best I remember working on them it's a 25.5 mm seal
That spring is old twisted n bent , I can tell by the distance you pushed it in with your thumb….not good , I’ve just fitted an aluminium machined piston and new main spring ….struggled on my own but managed and used a ratchet strap in a controlled manner ….still bedding in , not yet chronographed …..going get it tested when I visit my local gun club regards Alan

Sorry, totally useless video,
You tell us nothing about how you got into the Cylinder?
