    We own a 2021 xls 22rbe. It works perfectly for my wife and me…and even our two labs and one golden retriever! No issues with the slide and the awning. In fact, the awning helps to keep leaves and such from gathering on the top of the slide. The bathroom is such a nice size for a trailer of this size, as is the kitchen counter space.
    And yes, to answer a previous comment, there is a power outlet under the top cabinet in the bathroom. Often missed in videos but it’s there. 😊

      @@JoshtheRVNerd I imagine taking the theater seat out of the retracted slide, placing two swivel reclining chairs in the slide with a drop down table between them. Then I just imagine removing the elements of the actual slide. Yes, there would not be much room if the recliners faced across the body of the camper, but, that would not cause too much of an issue since those are the only two seats and this is presumably a couples or solo camper. There would be plenty of room at the drop down table for dining. I agree it would not be as spacious as the current floor plan, but it would also weigh less, cost less, and not require the maintenance of a slide.

      @@mikesarno7973 I agree. It will weigh and hopefully cost less (haha, maybe on the cost, ;-). One pro for the slide being under the awning is leaves and such won’t have to be cleaned off. Because it's a schwintek slide out and notorious for getting out of alignment.. And powered by 2 motors in the top of the sidewall, almost impossible to get at and the seals never go back right... So NO... Plus those little motors cost about 400 each...And Tankless is a brilliant new wave...On Demand.. Saves on Propane.... Now if they would do something with the dumb furnace setup..... That is in EVERY RV.... That thing uses as much Propane as a water heater on full time..lol

    • @StacieS225

      Never have had an issue with the slide in our 2021. We make sure to keep the slide button pushed for a few seconds after it fully retracts or extends (per manufacturer's manual). Our electric/propane water heater doesn't use a ton of propane. We don't turn it on unless we need it, and we turn on both electric and propane at the same time....endless hot water (I take long showers and have not run out of hot water yet when camping).

    My wife and I own this RV and my wife loves it! We had a Wolf Pup 17lgbl, which I preferred for towing, but we love this RV for couple's camping. We're seniors and the bathroom and drawer space sold my wife. For having a dedicated bedroom, it's not too long. As for towing, my equipped F150 somewhat struggled. It was definitely borderline, so I returned to a 3/4 ton truck. We keep collapsible aluminum tables behind the counter eating. Downsides: it's not designed for additional company to visit, the AC is loud, and the bathroom lav is tiny. But overall, it has more pluses than minuses! Thanks for another great video, Josh!

      @@IAssassinII We had the 5.0 V8 motor in the F150. Payload was the problem, not the motor. I miss the comfort of the 1/2 ton, but the 3/4 ton is far superior when towing. I don't even use the weight distribution system any longer, which was a necessity with the F150. With very strong winds I might use it for the anti-sway function.

    Love the layout of this. The kitchen area is sooooo spacious. Getting rid of the dining table and having the foldable table saves so much space for extra storage and kitchen area. The bathroom space is amazing also. That drawer and large under sink cabinet. The room to relax on the toilet. Love the cabinet design. Those large handles really stood out to me- -I love them. The silver on the cabinet above the bed adds a nice touch. Love the large fridge. I was looking for a unicorn, no slides, about 25', tandem axle- as we wanted to fit in National Parks easier, this came real close. We picked it up on a Monday six weeks ago, and did a cross country trip from Seattle to Orlando through 20 states in five weeks, NO issues. If you don't need to hang out under the awning next to the camper and just want your awning for keeping your entry area cool and dry, this is a GREAT camper! I thought it would be a dealbreaker at first but I think it gives you more camp site area like you mentioned.
    I would set up another covering for my outdoor table area and it's nice to have a screened in covering when there is food anyway. I think the setup it gives you is worth setting up a separate tarp/tent for your rainy day outdoor area and dining table.
    The awning will probably keep the seals on that slide out in better shape over the years too and the debris off.

Every little bit helps since propane prices started climbing. We purchased this RV this spring and have used it through about 4 weeks of camping. There are places where the slide does take up space under the awning, although not from the campsite space itself. However, we love the interior space and storage. One additional “beef” is the tiny sink in the bathroom. We would have preferred a tank water heater. The tankless is wonderful if you are in a full-hookup campsite. However, if you don’t have that, such as Michigan State Parks, the tankless water heater makes it very difficult to conserve water and tank space. It doesn’t play well with the water pump. So, it depends on how you plan to use the unit whether or not a tankless water heater works well for you.

    I'm looking to purchase an RV to live in, and I like this floor plan. The flip flop of this design helps me to better understand why there typically aren't slides on the camp side of the RV, but it isn't a deal breaker for my circumstances. I have this model in a 22 model year. I really like the black handles and fixtures ours are silver. We did swap the mattress. I've never had issues with the awning space but we don't honestly use it too much usually just open it enough on rainy days to have a good entry way. I do love that it came with built in winterizing valves that weren't in this video. Ours does have a dometic Air conditioning which is super loud and that's all I wish was fixed. I also added the moyride cre3000 equilizer and wet bolts the original set up squeaked like crazy on a lot of the off roadish stuff we were doing. Other than that it's the best camper for me the wife and our two dogs and it had a good enough ride height to get to some of the forest land spots we like with no issues.
    Edit to add: the comments are correct that this could work without the slide I have definitely never sat on my couch with the slide in but as long as you don't kick out the foot rests from the couch I could see it being a very good no slide camper but the space you get with the slide out makes these feel huge on rainy days!
    Ok last edit for Josh specifically: You need to yell to anyone who will listen in the industry to get rid of blue lights. I was a sailor and there's a reason ships used red lights, it doesn't damage your night vision so red lights can be used everywhere has night lights as awning lights and you can still walk out and see the stars and it won't disturb your neighbors I don't know why this isn't a standard the blue lights are literally the worst thing you could use.

    @oldengineer1519 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is a great floorplan from the inside but we have seen it with slide, awning and stairs out which is where this one IMO fails. The slide and stairs take up most of the prime outdoor seating area. The slide is so close to the awning it stops you from being able to angle the awning to shed rain. That same closeness creates the possibility of ripping the awning on the slide top corners. Of the three XLS models with this GVWR I think most folks would be better served by the 22MLE or 23LDE due to the better outdoor living space under the awning.
    I don't think the slides in the 22aaa and 23aaa should be used with the slide in based on what I've seen. The rollers that support the slide floor are pretty far back as a result the front half has no support and is pretty wobbly. Our old Micro Minnie the jack knife sofa was pretty solid as the sofa platform was part of the slide box structure built over the wheel well. The only way to decide is by taking a deep look at how the slide is built and supported then cross your fingers.
